Time of India9 hours ago

Actress Fatima Sana Shaikh recently opened up about the powerful role of sisterhood in her personal and professional life, sharing heartfelt insights into her close bond with Aamir Khan's daughter, Ira Khan and the women who've inspired her journey in cinema.
Speaking to
News18 Showsha
, Fatima revealed that she shares a strong connection with Aamir Khan's daughter, Ira Khan — a bond that was evident in the candid moments they shared at Ira's wedding, which went viral on social media earlier this year. Fatima also credited Ira for supporting her during a deeply personal phase.
'I did ask Ira for recommendations when I wanted to seek therapy,' Fatima said. 'I reached out to others too, because I have a lot of friends who seek therapy.'
Describing Ira as 'smart, talented, kind,' Fatima added, 'She's someone I truly love and respect.'
Fatima also shared how important friendship and sisterhood are to her. She feels lucky to have strong bonds with co-stars like Sanya Malhotra, Ratna Pathak Shah, and
Dia Mirza
Rekhi, who have all added something special to her life.
Fatima dismissed the idea that two actresses can't get along, calling it 'nonsense.' She said it has nothing to do with gender and more to do with a person's confidence.

According to her, if someone is insecure, they won't enjoy working with any co-actor because they'll always feel the need to compete for space.
The 'Dangal' actress who will next be seen in 'Metro In Dino', shared what makes her feel connected to her female co-stars. She mentioned that although she didn't have scenes with
Neena Gupta
or Konkona Sensharma in the film and just one with
Sara Ali Khan
, she built strong bonds while working on 'Dhak Dhak' with Dia Mirza and Ratna Pathak Shah. While
Sanjana Sanghi
was also part of the project, Fatima said she felt a deeper connection with Dia and Ratna.
'They're such strong women. They're opinionated people with a very evolved understanding of life and relationships. When you work with secure women, secure not necessarily in terms of their career but also in their personal lives, they've a lot to give. So, I really enjoyed working with them, she stated."
She said that when she was younger, she mostly had male friends because she was a tomboy. But as she got older, she started connecting more with women. One woman she feels very close to is director Shonali Bose, who worked with her on Modern Love Mumbai. Fatima said Shonali has faced many challenges in life but still has an amazing energy and love for life. She added that Shonali lights up any room she walks into, and she really loves her.

Vikrant Massey reveals he opted for no religion on son Vardaan's birth certificate: 'I will be so heartbroken if...'

Vikrant Massey and his wife chose not to specify a religion on their son Vardaan's birth certificate, emphasizing individual choice and inclusivity. Massey, who embraces multiple faiths, believes religion is a personal way of life, not a fixed identity. He aims to raise his son free of religious bias, fostering empathy and equality. Vikrant Massey has never shied away from sharing his personal beliefs, especially when it comes to faith and identity. In a recent conversation with Rhea Chakraborty on her podcast, the actor opened up about a deeply personal decision he and his wife made for their son, Vardaan—choosing to leave the religion column blank on his birth certificate. Reflecting his belief in inclusivity and individual choice, Vikrant spoke candidly about faith, family, and the values he hopes to instill in the next generation. The actor reflected on how religion, while complex for him, ultimately comes down to personal faith and choice. In his view, religion is a way of life rather than a fixed identity. His household embraces multiple faiths, and his own spiritual practice is inclusive—ranging from temple rituals to visits to gurdwaras and dargahs. He finds peace in each and believes religion is a man-made concept, stressing the importance of allowing individuals the freedom to choose their own spiritual path. He further shared that he holds a deep sense of faith, believing that someone is always looking out for him. He expressed gratitude to God for the work he's received and for being kept safe each day. However, he also admitted that when he spoke about his beliefs in the past, he faced intense questioning on social media—something that did affect him. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Fastest Selling Plots of Mysore from 40L | 40+ Amenities PurpleBrick Learn More Undo Vikrant also went on to explain that he's consciously raising his son to be free of religious or caste-based bias. He shared that they intentionally left the religion column blank on their son's birth certificate, adding that the government doesn't mandate filling it in—it's a personal choice. For Vikrant, this decision reflects a deeper value system. He said he would be heartbroken if his son ever judged someone based on their religious practices, and emphasized that he's determined to raise him with empathy and equality at the core. Earlier, Vikrant had spoken about the rich cultural diversity within his own family. His father is Christian, his mother is Sikh, and his brother embraced Islam at the age of 17. Vikrant, who is married to Sheetal from a Rajput Thakur background, shared that while he doesn't follow any single religion, his faith in God remains strong. Reflecting their inclusive beliefs, the couple also held a namkaran (naming) ceremony for their son, blending tradition with personal values.

Poonam Dhillon recalls refusing to wear 'itsy-bitsy' bikini in Trishul; Yash Chopra's wife Pamela Chopra called her 'defiant': 'I was comfortable with swimming costume but...'

Poonam Dhillon, at just 16, made her debut in Trishul, facing initial resistance from her conservative family. Yash Chopra discovered her through a beauty pageant and was determined to cast her. During filming, she stood her ground by refusing to wear a bikini for a pool scene, requesting a more modest costume, impressing Pam Chopra with her self-assuredness. Long before she became one of the most familiar faces in Hindi cinema, Poonam Dhillon made waves not just for her on-screen presence but for standing up for her principles—at the mere age of 16. In a recent interview, the veteran actor opened up about her debut in Trishul , the resistance she faced at home, and the moment she boldly refused to wear a bikini on set—leaving a lasting impression on filmmaker Yash Chopra and his wife, Pamela Chopra. In a recent interaction with ANI, Poonam reflected on an early moment in her career when she stood her ground during the filming of Trishul. At just 16, she refused to wear a bikini for a swimming pool scene at the Oberoi hotel and instead requested a more modest costume. Her firm stance left an impression on Yash Chopra's wife, Pam Chopra, who later described her as a "defiant" young girl who knew exactly what she was comfortable with. Despite Trishul being a dream debut—boasting a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan , Sanjeev Kumar , and Shashi Kapoor—the actress didn't let the pressure sway her. A trained swimmer and gymnast, she was confident wearing a proper swimsuit or shorts, but felt uncomfortable with the revealing bikini chosen for a poolside scene. After some back-and-forth with the team, the filmmakers eventually agreed to provide her with a one-piece costume. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New cars, best deals! During the same conversation, she recounted how Yash Chopra discovered her through a beauty pageant in Chandigarh and was determined to cast her in Trishul. After spotting her photograph, he reached out to her family through mutual acquaintances. However, his offer was initially met with strong resistance. Coming from a conservative background, her parents were firmly against the idea of their daughter joining films. The decision sparked considerable tension at home, with her mother feeling that the family's reputation was at stake. Poonam shared that over time, her parents gradually came around and allowed her to join films—only after they developed confidence in her ability to handle the industry and stay grounded. Their initial hesitation eventually gave way to support once they saw her determination and clarity.
