Andhra Pradesh MPs have turned puppets in the hands of Prime Minister Modi, alleges APCC chief Sharmila
Addressing the media here, Ms. Sharmila alleged that the 25 MPs in Lok Sabha and 11 in Rajya Sabha were vying with each other to support the Bills passed by the NDA government at the Centre, and doing nothing for the welfare of the State.
Referring to the promised Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh, she said the issue was given a quiet burial with none of the MPs raising it on the Floor of the House. Even after 11 years, the fate of Polavaram project continued to hang fire. The Reorganisation Act had clearly stated that the Central Government must construct the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, but it shirked the responsibility by giving loans of ₹15,000 crore to the State, she said.
She further said that the ₹25,000 crore special package promised to the backward regions was not implemented. The MPs remained silent even as the Centre went ahead with its plan to privatise the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, she alleged.
Farmers faced shortage of urea, she said, adding that despite knowing that the State faced a debt of ₹11 lakh crore, the NDA government in the State promised unemployment allowance and creation of 20 lakh jobs.

"Waterlogging happened since Patna experienced heavy rain for a continuous 10 hours, but our officials are working hard to free from this problem," the minister said, adding he had personally visited several affected areas. But the public isn't buying it. "How is the idea of turning Patna into Paris, Modi ji?" asked former state Congress president Madan Mohan Jha, reacting to the scenes of flooded streets and frustrated citizens. "We heard big claims about making Patna Paris, London, Shanghai and Scotland, but the situation on the ground remains entirely different," said city resident Rajiv Kumar Singh. "Let aside Patna turning into an international city, we would be more than happy if it simply remains Patna, free from dirt, waterlogging and pollution." Works on Handri-Neeva completed to transfer 3,850 cusecs through main canal, says Nimmala Ramanaidu
Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu has announced the successful completion of works enabling the flow of 3,850 cusecs of water through the main canal of the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project. At a review meeting on the progress of the Handri-Neeva and Veligonda projects via videoconference on Tuesday, Mr. Ramanaidu said, 'The NDA government has achieved in one year what the previous YSRCP dispensation could not in five years.' Even in Phase-2 of the Handri-Neeva project, works such as canal widening and lining had been completed, making it possible to channel 3,850 cusecs effectively. 'The people of Rayalaseema have offered the traditional 'harathi' to the Krishna waters flowing fully through the Handri-Neeva canal,' the Minister said. Referring to the delays in the branch canal works, Mr. Ramanaidu issued memos to two Executive Engineers, who allegedly failed to respond promptly in the Punganur and Kuppam Branch Canal sections. Referring to the Veligonda project, the Minister directed the officials and agency representatives to ensure that the tunnel lining and benching works were completed by June 2026. He also instructed the departments concerned to call for tenders for feeder canal works, lining, and retaining walls. Irrigation Special Secretary G. Sai Prasad, Irrigation Adviser M. Venkateswara Rao, Engineer-in-Chief Narasimha Murthy, Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers of the projects concerned, and representatives of the contracting agencies participated.

Nadda apologises to Kharge for ‘mental balance' remark during Operation Sindoor debate, withdraws it
Amid heated exchanges in the Rajya Sabha during the Operation Sindoor debate, Leader of the House JP Nadda objected to Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kharge said Nadda was one of the ministers in the NDA government whom he respected and added it was a matter of shame that such remarks were made.(Sansad TV via PTI) After Kharge concluded his speech, Nadda accused the Congress chief of 'losing his mental balance', in connection with the remarks made against PM Modi. Nadda further demanded that Kharge's statements be expunged because they were made in a 'flow of emotions'. Responding to the 'mental balance' remark, Kharge said that Nadda was one of the ministers in the NDA government whom he respected and added it was a matter of shame that such remarks were made. Following this, Nadda got up to say that he had already 'taken back' his words, while adding that if they hurt Kharge's feelings, he would apologise for the same. 'I have already taken back my words, but if they have hurt his (Kharge's) feelings, I apologise for the same,' Nadda said. However, he added that Kharge had 'crossed limits' and made remarks against PM Modi 'in passion and out of emotion", asking for these to be expunged. 'He has long experience. The choice of words used during his speech did not reflect his stature,' Nadda said.
