Benidorm star sets the record straight after sparking concern with claim she's 'living from couch to couch and her car is her wardrobe'

Daily Mail12-06-2025
Benidrom star Crissy Rock has set the record straight after sparking concern with her claim that she's 'living from couch to couch and her car is her wardrobe'.
Earlier this month the actress - who played Janey Yorke in the ITV hit - confessed she now lives like a 'nomad' and could find herself in a 'cardboard box' seven years after the ITV show ended in 2018.
This left some a little worried and the star decided to speak out and let her fans know what she actually meant when she said it.
Speaking with The Metro, Crissy said: 'I did say the boot of my car is like a wardrobe, because when you're on tour, you have to take suitcases with you.
'I am like a nomad because I'm on tour.
'I'm up and down the country, all over the place.

It comes after earlier this month the actress - who played Janey Yorke in the ITV hit - confessed she now lives like a 'nomad' and could find herself in a 'cardboard box' seven years after the ITV show ended in 2018
'That's what you do when you're on tour, you live in the suitcase. We don't live in a cardboard box.'
She added: 'You have to go where the work is, so it's not like you just sit there and go, 'Oh, I can't be bothered going there'.'
Last month Crissy explained that her career and upcoming UK tour has resulted in sleeping 'couch to couch' while keeping her possessions in the boot of her car.
As well as starring in Benidorm, Crissy won numerous awards for her role in 1994 movie Ladybird, Ladybird before going on to appear on I'm A Celeb and Celebrity Come Dine With Me and Celebrity Masterchef.
She told The Express: 'Me, I'm like a nomad. I live from place to place to place.
'My wardrobe is just the boot of my car. If it wasn't for my friend, I would be living in a hostel or a cardboard box'.
'When I'm in Liverpool, I go and see her and I have family and that so I just sort of move around from couch to couch.'
Benidorm star Crissy Rock, 66, has confessed she now lives like a 'nomad' and could find herself in a 'cardboard box' seven years after the ITV show ended
Crissy appeared as Solana Hotel boss Janey for the show's first four seasons, before retuning sporadically until her final exit during season seven. The comedy continued for another three years before being axed in May 2018.
Asked if she would be keen to see the comedy make a return, Crissy said: 'I've heard that the show could come back and I think that it would be brilliant if they did bring it back. But I can't say much, but I would love it to happen'.
Just two months after its cancellation was confirmed, the show won Best cCmedy at TV Choice Awards - with its creator Derren Litten calling out the decision in his acceptance speech at the time.
Now its been reported it could be making a comeback, with The Sun claiming earlier this year that TV bosses are in talks to reboot the show.
A TV insider told the publication: 'Benidorm was adored by millions when it was suddenly cancelled.
'Fans will be thrilled to hear ITV wants to bring it back.
'An 11th series hasn't been commissioned yet, but there's major excitement building as early talks begin.
'Producers have started to reach out to the show's stars and are hopeful a decision can be made later this year.'
Fans were ecstatic as the news circulated online, writing: 'Sincerely hope this is true!! Dearly missed show!';
She said: 'Me, I'm like a nomad. I live from place to place to place. My wardrobe is just the boot of my car. If it wasn't for my friend, I would be living in a hostel or a cardboard box'
Explaining the reasons behind her new lifestyle, she told the publication it was all due to her work that can take her around the country at a moments notice
As well as starring in Benidorm, Crissy won numerous awards for her role in 1994 movie Ladybird, Ladybird before going on to appear on I'm A Celeb in 2011 (pictured)
'Feel like I'm dreaming. Really hope they make this happen,'; 'Omg yay I hope they all come back!!';
'Ur 5 days late for april fools... or its actually real?!?! Finally ITV bringing back a INCREDIBLE Show,';
'Omg! I'm absolutely buzzing with excitement! This is the best news ever! I really hope the Garvey's come back!'
'I hope so cause that would be the best birthday present every.'
The ITV Brits abroad sitcom - which followed a group of holidaymakers in the Spanish resort and their hilarious escapades - came to an end in May 2018 after 11 years, and fans have been begging for more ever since.
In 2023, show creator Derren teased a return of the beloved series as he announced that he was returning back to writing for 'both television and theatre'.
He said: 'I have had clear, recent indications that certain TV channels are interested in my decision and I hope you will be watching the fruits of my labour in time to come.'
Then, in March 2025 he sparked hope of its comeback once again when a fan asked on X: '@DerrenLitten @ITV Another series of Benidorm on the cards?' and he cryptically replied: 'Who knows...'
Announcing the news on social media that it had been axed in 2018, Derren said: 'Crazy to think Wednesday will be the last episode of Benidorm!
'I created the series over 11 years ago, wrote it, guest starred in it and ended up directing it. It's difficult to think what else there is to do! Thank you for watch.'

Alien: Earth has landed – here's where to watch the Alien spin-off in the UK

After months of anticipation, Alien: Earth has landed on our screens – more specifically, on Disney+, if you're watching in the UK. Indeed, the official trailer teased some creepy, slimy lifeforms, naturally, and some of the plot points, including the fact that there could be more than just the xenomorph we know from the Alien franchise to contend with. On the creative and production team is Noah Hawley (the screen writer behind major series including Fargo and Legion), Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Joseph Iberti, Dana Gonzales and Clayton Krueger, while cast members include Alex Lawther from The End of the F***ing World and Black Mirror, Kit Young from The Beautiful Game, Timothy Olyphant from Fargo and The Mandalorian), The Babadook's Essie Davis, and Adarsh Gourav from White Tigers. That said, you might not want to. Disney+ is home to some of the most talked-about shows at the moment, such as The Bear and Star Wars series, Andor. Where is Heartbeat's Nick Berry and the rest of the cast now? From tragic deaths to co-star romance

Heartbeat was a staple of British television for nearly two decades. So what happened to the likes of Nick Berry, Tricia Penrose, and Mark Jordan after the North Yorkshire-based show ended? The beloved ITV series spanned 18 seasons, and despite ending in 2010, the long-standing police period drama Heartbeat is still a cornerstone of British television to this day. ‌ Airing for nearly two decades, the show spawned numerous spin-offs and one-off television specials, which is a true reflection of its popularity with viewers. ‌ Fans followed the lives of those who lived in the fictional North Yorkshire village of Aidensfield during the 1960s and the well-respected local policemen and villagers as they grappled with crime, community tensions, and personal dramas. ‌ In the very beginning, we were met with the charming PC Nick Rowan, played by Nick Berry, who was attempting to adapt to his new rural lifestyle after moving from London and joining the Yorkshire force. With the show off air for more than 15 years now, we couldn't help but wonder what the actors of the much-loved programme are doing today. He went on to further his acting career, taking on a vital role in the 1999 drama series Harbour Lights and starring in the 2001 crime drama In Deep. After In Deep finished in 2003, Nick announced he'd be taking a break from acting to focus on his family and other ventures, including his own production company. ‌ Prior to landing his role as Nick Berry on the popular ITV series, he'd actually played the part of Simon Wicks on BBC One's hit soap EastEnders. Despite taking a break from acting, he did go on to make a special appearance as his former character, Simon, in 2012, which was his last and final TV stint since being on screens from 1976. Not only was Gina a popular fixture on the programme for 60s fashion and her incredible acting skills, but she also gave fans some amazing vocal performances during her long-standing career ‌ In 2002, Tricia followed the path of her co-star Nick Berry and tried her hand in the singing world. She placed second on the show A Song For Europe, the UK's competition to select their Eurovision entry. Despite her song DJ Romeo being a huge hit with fans and judges, she was pipped to first place by Jessica Garlick, who represented Great Britain that year in the Eurovision Song Contest. A one-off documentary commemorating his departure, Heartbeat – Farewell Phil, was broadcast on Christmas Day in 2007. After his departure, Mark took up roles in medical drama Casualty in 2009 and joined Hollyoaks in 2012. ‌ He also became a series regular in Emmerdale in 2017, taking the role of Staff Sergeant Daz Spencer. In his spare time, Mark is devoted to his charity work for Usher syndrome and often uses his social media pages to raise awareness, in the hope of finding a cure Alf Ventress ‌ William Simons landed the accolade for the longest-standing member of the Heartbeat tribe, delighting viewers with his portrayal of the retired policeman for a complete 18-season journey. He joined the programme from its very inception and remained a valued part of the cast until 2000, when his character returned for the Royal spin-off series in 2002.
