Benidorm star sets the record straight after sparking concern with claim she's 'living from couch to couch and her car is her wardrobe'
Benidrom star Crissy Rock has set the record straight after sparking concern with her claim that she's 'living from couch to couch and her car is her wardrobe'. Earlier this month the actress - who played Janey Yorke in the ITV hit - confessed she now lives like a 'nomad' and could find herself in a 'cardboard box' seven years after the ITV show ended in 2018. This left some a little worried and the star decided to speak out and let her fans know what she actually meant when she said it. Speaking with The Metro, Crissy said: 'I did say the boot of my car is like a wardrobe, because when you're on tour, you have to take suitcases with you. 'I am like a nomad because I'm on tour. 'I'm up and down the country, all over the place. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. It comes after earlier this month the actress - who played Janey Yorke in the ITV hit - confessed she now lives like a 'nomad' and could find herself in a 'cardboard box' seven years after the ITV show ended in 2018 'That's what you do when you're on tour, you live in the suitcase. We don't live in a cardboard box.' She added: 'You have to go where the work is, so it's not like you just sit there and go, 'Oh, I can't be bothered going there'.' Last month Crissy explained that her career and upcoming UK tour has resulted in sleeping 'couch to couch' while keeping her possessions in the boot of her car. As well as starring in Benidorm, Crissy won numerous awards for her role in 1994 movie Ladybird, Ladybird before going on to appear on I'm A Celeb and Celebrity Come Dine With Me and Celebrity Masterchef. She told The Express: 'Me, I'm like a nomad. I live from place to place to place. 'My wardrobe is just the boot of my car. If it wasn't for my friend, I would be living in a hostel or a cardboard box'. 'When I'm in Liverpool, I go and see her and I have family and that so I just sort of move around from couch to couch.' Benidorm star Crissy Rock, 66, has confessed she now lives like a 'nomad' and could find herself in a 'cardboard box' seven years after the ITV show ended Crissy appeared as Solana Hotel boss Janey for the show's first four seasons, before retuning sporadically until her final exit during season seven. The comedy continued for another three years before being axed in May 2018. Asked if she would be keen to see the comedy make a return, Crissy said: 'I've heard that the show could come back and I think that it would be brilliant if they did bring it back. But I can't say much, but I would love it to happen'. Just two months after its cancellation was confirmed, the show won Best cCmedy at TV Choice Awards - with its creator Derren Litten calling out the decision in his acceptance speech at the time. Now its been reported it could be making a comeback, with The Sun claiming earlier this year that TV bosses are in talks to reboot the show. A TV insider told the publication: 'Benidorm was adored by millions when it was suddenly cancelled. 'Fans will be thrilled to hear ITV wants to bring it back. 'An 11th series hasn't been commissioned yet, but there's major excitement building as early talks begin. 'Producers have started to reach out to the show's stars and are hopeful a decision can be made later this year.' Fans were ecstatic as the news circulated online, writing: 'Sincerely hope this is true!! Dearly missed show!'; She said: 'Me, I'm like a nomad. I live from place to place to place. My wardrobe is just the boot of my car. If it wasn't for my friend, I would be living in a hostel or a cardboard box' Explaining the reasons behind her new lifestyle, she told the publication it was all due to her work that can take her around the country at a moments notice As well as starring in Benidorm, Crissy won numerous awards for her role in 1994 movie Ladybird, Ladybird before going on to appear on I'm A Celeb in 2011 (pictured) 'Feel like I'm dreaming. Really hope they make this happen,'; 'Omg yay I hope they all come back!!'; 'Ur 5 days late for april fools... or its actually real?!?! Finally ITV bringing back a INCREDIBLE Show,'; 'Omg! I'm absolutely buzzing with excitement! This is the best news ever! I really hope the Garvey's come back!' 'I hope so cause that would be the best birthday present every.' The ITV Brits abroad sitcom - which followed a group of holidaymakers in the Spanish resort and their hilarious escapades - came to an end in May 2018 after 11 years, and fans have been begging for more ever since. In 2023, show creator Derren teased a return of the beloved series as he announced that he was returning back to writing for 'both television and theatre'. He said: 'I have had clear, recent indications that certain TV channels are interested in my decision and I hope you will be watching the fruits of my labour in time to come.' Then, in March 2025 he sparked hope of its comeback once again when a fan asked on X: '@DerrenLitten @ITV Another series of Benidorm on the cards?' and he cryptically replied: 'Who knows...' Announcing the news on social media that it had been axed in 2018, Derren said: 'Crazy to think Wednesday will be the last episode of Benidorm! 'I created the series over 11 years ago, wrote it, guest starred in it and ended up directing it. It's difficult to think what else there is to do! Thank you for watch.'

ITV Benidorm icon credits friend for saving her from homelessness
Benidorm legend Crissy Rock, who played Janey York in ITV's hit comedy, has opened up about her lifestyle, which she describes as 'living like a nomad' ITV comedy legend Crissy Rock has candidly revealed her unconventional way of life that she likens to "living like a nomad". The actress, well-known for her portrayal of the Solana hotel's Janey Yorke on Benidorm, is preparing to embark on a nationwide tour and admits to a lifestyle that sees her moving from "couch to couch". Speaking with the 66-year-old Liverpudlian shared: "Me, I'm like a nomad. I live from place to place to place. My wardrobe is just the boot of my car. If it wasn't for my friend, I would be living in a hostel or a cardboard box. When I'm in Liverpool, I go and see her and I have family and that so I just sort of move around from couch to couch." Crissy opened up about why she's adopted a nomadic existence, explaining: "It's just my job, it takes me everywhere." She stressed: "You can't become complacent, because every job is different." While chatting about her eagerly awaited tour, Crissy gave fans a teaser of what to expect as she transforms from Christine Murray into the fabulous Crissy Rock. Amazed by the public response, she confessed: "It's gone berserk. I can't believe it. I'm really excited about it", reports the Daily Star. She alluded to sharing the highs and lows of her journey, intending to cover the ups and downs while ensuring laughter remains at the heart of her story. Crissy remarked: "I think that's how I've coped with my life. Through humour." Crissy has admitted that she's completely on board for a Benidorm revival, despite being busy with her one-woman show. She revealed: "I've heard that the show could come back and I think that it would be brilliant if they did bring it back. But I can't say much, but I would love it to happen. It's up to the writer, and I think that you couldn't say half of the things now. You'd have to be politically correct, so would it be the same? "The full cast, all of them, were brilliant. We had a lovely time. I think it was so popular because people could relate to the characters. They all knew someone who was like that. They could relate to the people who were on the programme." She also suggested a potential storyline for the show's return: "I think it would be fab if Janey Yorke and Joyce Temple-Savage got back and locked horns over who was managing the Solana. That would be good, wouldn't it? Because they hated each other." Currently, Crissy is touring the UK with her show An Evening With Crissy Rock: From Bedlam To Benidorm, promising to deliver the fun in June 2025 and extending the fun into Spring 2026.

Benidorm's Crissy Rock sets record straight on claim she's 'living like a nomad'
Benidorm star Crissy Rock has set the record straight on reports that she is 'living like a nomad' and couch-surfing with friends. The Liverpudlian, 66, is best known as Janey Yorke from the ITV sitcom, but is now touring the country talking about her transition from acting to stand-up in the show An Evening with Crissy Rock: From Bedlam to Benidorm. Crissy made headlines over the weekend that she is 'living from couch to couch' and that her wardrobe is the boot of her car – which she has told the Metro she said in jest during an interview. Crissy has now clarified that she does have a permanent home in Norfolk, which she shares with her husband Julian Buck, who she married the same year Benidorm ended in 2018. Crissy went on to explain that the nomadic lifestyle she referred to in an interview with The Express was only temporary while she's on tour, driving herself from city to city to perform her one-woman show, which she said is 'part and parcel' of being a jobbing comedian. The performer explained that while at first she found the reaction funny, she then realised that it 'could have an impact on her tour' if people make the wrong assumption about her living situation. 'I did say that my boot of my car is like a wardrobe, because when you're on tour, you have to take suitcases with you. I am like a nomad because I'm on tour. I'm up and down the country, all over the place. 'That's what you do when you're on tour, you live in the suitcase. We don't live in a cardboard box.' She continued: 'You have to go where the work is, so it's not like you just sit there and go, 'Oh, I can't be bothered going there'.' Crissy has her next show on Thursday, in which she talks about her life since Benidorm ended. The sitcom ran for 10 seasons and 74 episodes before its finale in 2018. Benidorm focused on the Solana Resort, following various holidaymakers as they decamped to the Spanish city, and has since found a second life on Netflix. Benidorm boss Derren Litten confirmed earlier this year that he is in talks with ITV over a possible show reboot, which Crissy said would be 'fabulous' if it went ahead. 'That would be wonderful for the people who watch it as well,' she said. 'It'd be wonderful if they asked me to come back into it. Maybe me and Sherrie (Hewson, who played Joyce Temple-Savage on the sitcom) could lock horns and become rival manageresses of different parts of the venue.' More Trending Crissy went on to acknowledge that certain elements of the show would have to change, after it featured outdated stereotypes and crude jokes. 'You couldn't say certain things that they said years ago,' said Crissy. 'I'm not the writer, so I wouldn't know how they would go about it. 'People spoke like that years ago, but you wouldn't do it now.' View More » Benidorm is available to stream on Netflix and ITVX. Got a story?
