Man killed in Seremban allegedly had affair with suspect's wife, say cops
PETALING JAYA : The man who died after being stabbed in front of a house in Senawang, Seremban, on Monday evening allegedly had an affair with the suspect's wife, say police.
Berita Harian reported Negeri Sembilan police chief Ahmad Dzaffir Yussof as saying the suspect had become enraged after learning of the affair.
'Investigations found that the 28-year-old victim had become acquainted with the suspect's wife a month ago via social media,' he said.
Dzaffir said the suspect had no previous convictions for criminal offences and tested negative for drug use.
The victim died after being stabbed in the chest by the 31-year-old suspect.
Seremban police chief Hatta Che Din said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer.
He said police later confiscated a knife.
They arrested the suspect with the help of members of the public, remanding him until Aug 18 for investigations.

Malaysian tourists with burn injuries face long recovery, mounting expenses
BANGKOK: The families of two Malaysian tourists set ablaze here on August 7 fear their medical expenses could exceed insurance coverage. Gan Kin In, 80, said he and his wife, Kek Ley Lan, expressed gratitude to the Malaysian and Thai governments, along with other relevant agencies, for their assistance following the incident involving their daughter and her boyfriend. "We have been in Bangkok for the past week. "The Malaysian government, through the embassy, has given us constant support, while the Thai side, through the Tourist Police and the Tourism and Sports Ministry, has provided transportation and accommodation," he told Bernama on Friday. The two Malaysians, Gan Xiao Zhen, 27, and her boyfriend Ong Yik Leong, 26, were attacked by an unemployed man who allegedly doused them with thinner before setting them alight near a shopping mall on Ratchadamri Road at about 10 pm on Aug 7. However, Kin In said they were worried about the medical expenses, which had already reached around 150,000 baht after just over a week of treatment at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. He said the Thai government had agreed to provide total compensation of up to 550,000 baht per person. "We are worried that the total amount of compensation may not be enough to cover the total medical costs here, as the charges are quite high," he said. Kin In, a retiree, said that doctors were not optimistic about allowing the victims to be transferred back to Malaysia anytime soon. "Yesterday (on Thursday), Xiao Zhen had a fever and high blood pressure, but she has recovered today. "Her condition is now more stable, and if her health permits, doctors will carry out minor skin operations in phases," he said. (File pic) SINGAPORE : Malaysian billionaire Ong Beng Seng's status as a Singapore permanent resident will be reviewed by the authorities following his conviction and sentencing for abetting obstruction of justice in a case linked to a former minister, according to local media reports. An immigration spokesperson told the Straits Times on Friday that the department would review the status of Singapore permanent residents who have been convicted of an offence, Bernama reported. Ong, 79, was fined the maximum amount of S$30,000 on Friday after he pleaded guilty to the charge on Aug 4. A second charge, of instigating former transport minister S Iswaran to obtain flights and a hotel stay from him, was taken into consideration for sentencing. Principal district judge Lee Lit Cheng agreed with both the prosecution and defence that judicial mercy should be exercised in this case due to Ong's ill health. He suffers from an incurable form of cancer that has damaged his skeletal system and severely compromised his immune system. He also suffers from other complications that further increase his risk of infection and place him at risk of gangrene. Ong is the founder of Singapore-based Hotel Properties Limited which is a shareholder of various businesses, including Hard Rock resorts and Four Seasons resorts across Europe and Asia.
