Coolie and War 2 spark backlash over steep ticket hikes in Telugu states
The gap has triggered sharp reactions across X (formerly Twitter), with many calling the hikes 'exploitative.' @Just_Spidye questioned the policy: 'Why Tamil [films] imposed in Andhra & Telangana? Why giving hikes for Tamil films? This is shame of TFI.' Others, like @ranjithNBK, pointed to audience behaviour, 'For a Tier 1 hero, people will go even with hikes… but for Coolie, it's a risk. If talk is bad, huge drops from day two.'
The disparity has also drawn political jabs. @LoveIndia163 asked, '#Coolie in TN – Rs 150- Rs 200, #War2 in North – Rs 180-Rs 250, Telugu States – Rs 300-Rs 550? WTH?' Similar sentiments were echoed by many users and the topic has been trending on X.

Nagarjuna reacts to Coolie's box office success, opens up on sharing screen with Rajinikanth: 'Records had to break'
Rajinikanth may be at the front and centre of Coolie's box office success, but the film's pan-India appeal has been enhanced by the presence of superstars Nagarjuna and Upendra. Nagarjuna, in particular, surprised fans with his menacing antagonist turn as Simon, the film's ruthless villain. Nagarjuna is the main antagonist of Coolie. Nagarjuna addresses Coolie's success In a statement, the Telugu superstar has addressed the record-breaking opening of Coolie. "The love that Coolie has received across the world has been nothing short of historic," Nagarjuna says after the film raked in over ₹250 crore in two days, registering the best-ever opening by a Tamil film. The film's Telugu version, buoyed by Nagarjuna-Rajni combine, outperformed Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan's War 2 in many territories, including North America. Coolie's Telugu version earned $1.3 million in North America on the opening day, as opposed to $610K for War 2. Nagarjuna on Rajinikanth Talking about this record-breaking performance of the film and his partnership with Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna adds, 'Partnering with Rajinikanth on a film of this scale was an unforgettable experience; there's a magnetic magic when two journeys like ours meet on screen. We knew we were part of something special, and the energy around the film is an indicator of the same. The unanimous response to my role has been overwhelming. It's a reminder that great cinema is built on collaboration, chemistry, and the thrill of giving audiences something they will remember long after the credits roll. From the sets to the theatres, Coolie has been a celebration of legacy and reinvention; records had to break, and they did.' Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna's presence has led to Coolie outperforming War 2 in Telugu markets. This marks back-to-back bilingual successes for Nagarjuna. Right before Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie, he starred in a grey role in Kuberaa, the Tamil-Telugu film that also featured Dhanush and Rashmika Mandanna. Up next, the actor will be seen on the big screen again as his iconic Telugu film Siva gears up for a grand re-release in cinemas in 4K and Dolby Atmos. About Coolie Coolie has so far grossed ₹250 crore worldwide. Apart from Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna, the film also stars Upendra, Shruti Haasan, and Soubin Shahir. The film also includes a cameo by Aamir Khan.

Coolie Box Office Collections: Rajnikanth starrer rises to 243 crore worldwide in two days
Coolie grossed USD 3.25 million approx on Friday internationally, taking its total gross to USD 11.85 million (Rs. 104 crore) approx. Combined with Rs. 139 crore in India, the worldwide gross for the Rajnikanth starrer stands at Rs. 243 crore approx. Coolie held generally well, but the market which did the best on the opening day, the United States, saw a kind of a crash, with collections dropping to just USD 600K on Friday. This is an unnatural drop from a huge USD 2.70 million it did on Wednesday, or even the USD 700K on Thursday. Yes, the reception is on the mixed side, but that stands true for other places, where the drops are more in line with what you would expect. The opening day was the biggest ever for a Tamil film internationally, the reason for which was the United States, where the film beat Leo by a considerable margin of USD 1.30 million. On its second day, the overall biz was a bit short of Leo, with the gap reducing to just USD 100K in the US. The four-day weekend is projected to reach USD 17.50 million, which will be the second-highest ever, just behind Leo (USD 18 million). Leo ended up being very frontloaded, closing at USD 23.40 million, so Coolie may still overtake it if it manages to get better legs beyond the weekend. The Territorial Breakdown for Coolie overseas is as follows:
