Why Was Miley Cyrus Not Allowed to Sing Her Hannah Montana Songs After Series Ended? Flowers Crooner Reveals Reason

Miley Cyrus revealed that she was not allowed to croon any of the Hannah Montana songs after the Disney show ended.
The musician made an appearance on the Every Single Album podcast, where she claimed like its not that she wanted to either, but she just felt sad that the tracks had her voice and her face, but yet she was not allowed to sing them.
However, that has changed now. Since Cyrus has been inducted as the Disney legend, the singer was given the permission to perform her songs from the iconic 2000s show. Miley received the honor last year.
Miley Cyrus speaks about her Hannah Montana songs
In conversation with the podcast host, Miley Cyrus elaborated on the above mentioned statements. She said, 'After I left Disney, I wasn't allowed to perform any of the Hannah Montana music."
The singer further added, "It's not like I wanted to. I mean, performing 'The Best of Both Worlds' between 'We Can't Stop' and 'Wrecking Ball' wouldn't have really made sense.'
She went on to claim that after the Disney studios gave her the permission to croon her songs, she felt it was 'pretty cool.'
The Heart of Glass singer went on to star in Hannah Montana in 2006. The actress-musician gained popularity in 2006, and went on to become a household name. The series also starred her real life father, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jason Earles, Emily Osment, and Mitchel Musso.
Meanwhile, some of the popular tracks that featured in the shoe included Nobody's Perfect, Rockstar, We Got the Party, and If We Were a Movie, among others.

Miley Cyrus forced to perform after ‘rude' fans heckle her at film premiere: ‘We paid $800, sing miley, sing!'

Miley Cyrus' new film, Something Beautiful, a 55-minute visual trip through 13 tracks and music video cuts, premiered at the Tribeca Festival in New York on June 6. The film serves as a companion piece to her new album of the same name. The premiere took place at the Beacon Theatre, where Miley showed up for a Q&A alongside the film's producers and directors. But mid-conversation, things got messy. A few fans, clearly annoyed, interrupted the session, shouting and yelling at Miley to sing. 'We paid $800. Sing!' one fan screamed. Another yelled, 'We thought this was a concert.' Turns out, the chaos emerged from misleading ads on third-party ticket sites like StubHub and VividSeats. Also read | Priyanka Chopra's husband Nick Jonas' ex Miley Cyrus recalls their break up: 'He dumped me, I asked why are you leaving Miley Cyrus, unaware of the confusion, responded patiently, and even sang on the spot to stop the crowd from screaming. She belted out an a cappella version of her 2009 hit 'The Climb' from Hannah Montana: The Movie. The pop star had earlier revealed that Disney once banned her from performing any Hannah Montana tracks, until recently, when she was officially recognised as a 'Disney Legend' and the network finally lifted those bans. Absolutely disgusting that people would do this. There was nothing about this event advertised as a performance and these people had the nerve to yell this to her. So disgusted. — Miley Analytics (@MileyAnalytics) June 7, 2025 Moments after the video went viral, Miley Cyrus' fans rushed to defend the Grammy winner, slamming the in-house crowd as 'rude,' 'entitled,' and 'shameless,' while praising the singer for how well she handled the mess. 'Maybe check what kind of event you're at before shouting demands at an artist,' a person commented. Miley's team and the Tribeca Festival have yet to respond. Meanwhile, the 'Flowers' crooner's ninth studio album, Something Beautiful came out on May 30. The album features songs she worked on with other artistes, like Brittany Howard and Naomi Campbell, with a special credit to her boyfriend, Maxx Morand, for helping out. The thing is after my experience with the rude fans at chateau, I would have literally stood up and told her to shut the fuck up 😭 like I can't take it anymore. Ads on those platforms apparently made it look like Miley was on a concert tour. Some fans ended up dropping hundreds, even over a grand, thinking they were buying tickets to a live show. One woman, Kate Fiore, said she and her sister spent $1,700 on tickets after seeing an ad that made no mention of the Tribeca Film Festival. The reality hit once they got there; it was a movie screening, not a concert. They weren't alone. Many around them had the same experience. Some stayed. Others left early. Another attendee, Tim, said he shelled out $1,200 for two tickets after seeing an ad that straight-up made it sound like a concert. The moment he spotted the 'Tribeca Film Festival' marquee outside the Beacon, it clicked. 'I was sitting there cringing in the audience with my sister as the fans were yelling at the stage. It was very awkward, but it was obvious there was a clear misalignment in expectations between the event and the fans, which is just… uncomfortable in a visceral way,' said Tim. For the day, Miley Cyrus hit the red carpet wearing a sheer, beaded dress with layers of strands. She posed with the team behind her new visual album Something Beautiful, including her mom Tish, and yelled out to the cameras, 'Everybody say, 'Dysfunctional!'' The album Something Beautiful is inspired by Pink Floyd's The Wall, and the pop star shared that it holds a special connection with one of her brothers. The visuals are inspired by old-school concept albums. The whole thing was shot in two weeks.

Miley Cyrus recalls hiding drug expenses by calling them 'vintage clothes': "My accountant would get these checks of thousands of dollars' worth..."

Miley Cyrus , the 'Hannah Montana' star, used to disguise her clothes as high-end vintage to hide the cost of drugs from her accountant while she was making her 2015 album, 'Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz'. Miley Cyrus gets candid about drugs In an interview with The Ringer's Every Single Album podcast, Miley revealed that drugs were a 'super important' part of the creative process, but came at the biggest cost. 'The drugs were the biggest cost. To hide those from my accountant, we called them 'vintage clothes.' And so she would get these checks of thousands of dollars' worth of vintage clothes,' she said. However, the 'Flowers' singer's accountant would then ask her to see the merchandise of the purchase. Recalling the conversation, the 32-year-old said, 'Every time she saw me, she'd be like, 'Where's that $15,000 original John Lennon T-shirt that you bought?' 'It's like, 'Oh, it's upstairs. Would you like some?' So I bought a lot of vintage clothes that year,' she added, according to Entertainment Weekly. Furthermore, Cyrus stated that her approach towards songwriting is different when she is not indulging in any substance. 'I feel like the things that I was able to find — I can write songs as well [while sober], but I can't find things like 'Tangerine,' she added. Miley Cyrus's sobriety is like her god... During an interview with Zane Lowe, Miley had stated that sobriety is 'like my god,' to which she responded in the aforementioned podcast as a little too dramatic moment. 'That was a little dramatic because someone used that as a quote, and I was like, 'Okay, I wouldn't say it's my god. I'm not gonna go into — I don't do meetings or anything,' Miley Cyrus said. Cyrus said that she struggled to find commercial success for her 2015 and 2017 albums, like her previous 2013 album. Under pressure, she felt compelled to perform more with drugs and alcohol for her 2019 album. Check out our list of the latest Hindi , English , Tamil , Telugu , Malayalam , and Kannada movies .
