Action star Dolph Lundgren is launching his own vodka

Yahoo19-03-2025
Dolph Lundgren is well-known for his many action movie roles, including Ivan Drago in 'Rocky IV' and He-Man in 'Masters of the Universe.' He's taking on a new role, and this one isn't on the big screen, though. It's as founder of a premium vodka brand aptly called Hard Cut Vodka.
This 90-proof, premium vodka was made with a base of Idaho-grown potatoes and spring water from the Rocky Mountains. It's touted as an 'ultra-smooth' and 'the ultimate all-American vodka.' It's already been awarded a Double Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Unsurprisingly, the name comes from the film term 'hard cut,' which describes a shot that abruptly ends and quickly cuts to the next shot without any dissolve, fade, or other transition. This new vodka was crafted to be smooth enough to be imbibed neat, on the rocks, or in a Martini, Vodka Soda, or any other popular vodka-based cocktail.
According to the brand, Hard Cut Vodka is velvety and creamy smooth and has notes of green apple, fennel, roasted potato, and butterscotch.
'From earning my master's in chemical engineering, to taking on Rocky on the big screen, I've always believed in pushing the limits, striving for the best in all I do,' Dolph Lundgren, Founder and Chairman of Hard Cut Vodka said.
He adds, 'My wife, Emma, and I enjoy vodka on the rocks, and after trying dozens of brands, we decided we needed to create the perfect liquid for a vodka world gone soft. Enter Hard Cut Vodka.'
Hard Cut Vodka will be available nationally on Flaviar.com for the suggested retail price of $25.99 for a 700ml bottle. It will be available at BevMo in California beginning this month and will be rolled out to other key markets in the US throughout 2025.

Kristen Wiig Weirdly Joins MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE as Roboto — GeekTyrant

Roboto has found a surprising new voice, and it belongs to Kristen Wiig. The Masters of the Universe character, a mechanical warrior with a transparent body and interchangeable weapon arms, will be voiced by Wiig in Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel's upcoming live-action feature. Traditionally, Roboto has been portrayed by male actors, making this casting choice unexpected. The film is now in post-production, and it adapts the iconic 1980s toyline and animated series, following Prince Adam of Eternia. With the power of his sword, Adam transforms into He-Man and defends his world against Skeletor and his dark forces. Leading the cast are Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam and Jared Leto as Skeletor. The film also stars Camila Mendes as Teela, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, James Purefoy as King Randor, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm/Fisto, and Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms. Supporting roles include Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Sasheer Zamata as Suzie, John Xue Zhang as Ram-Man, and Christian Vunipola as Hussein. Travis Knight ( Bumblebee ) directs the film, which is set for a worldwide theatrical release on June 5, 2026. The screenplay is written by Chris Butler, with production handled by Escape Artists and Mattel Studios. Wiig brings plenty of experience to voice acting as she has previously lent her talents to Despicable Me , How to Train Your Dragon , and TV projects like Bless the Harts and Prime's Sausage Party: Foodtopia . Her last live-action performance was leading Apple TV+'s Palm Royale . With Wiig stepping into the role of Roboto, Masters of the Universe is adding yet another unexpected twist to an already wild cast lineup.

Why Masters Of The Universe Is ‘The Complete Antithesis' Of Barbie, According To A Mattel Exec

Next year, after years of failed attempts, we will finally get the first live-action Masters of the Universe since 1987. Considering it's a movie based on a line of action figures, one might not be expecting much. Of course, that was the case with Barbie, and that movie became a massive hit. While the two IPs have a similar basis, Mattel Studios president and chief creative officer Robbie Brenner tells The Wrap that the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie is very much the opposite of Barbie. At least when it comes to its primary demographic. Brenner says… And there's 'Masters of the Universe,' which is the complete antithesis of what 'Barbie' is. 'Barbie' was all about femininity and embracing feminism and the issues around all of that, and 'Masters' is fun and it's a huge spectacle and it's something totally different. It deals with masculinity in a very fun, funny way. While I would argue that, through Ryan Gosling's Ken, Barbie had plenty to say about masculinity, femininity was certainly what the movie was focused on. It sounds like Masters of the Universe won't simply be a movie designed to appeal more to a male demographic, but one that will deal directly with issues of masculinity. While this makes it the antithesis of Barbie, might also make it the perfect companion film. Interestingly, Brenner calls the new Masters of the Universe movie both 'fun' and 'funny' which seems to echo the recent comments of Alison Brie, who will play Evil-Lyn in the new film. She responded to reports that the movie was taking a more serious approach to the material by suggesting those rumors were off the mark, and Mattel's CCO would seem to confirm that. Brenner praises director Travis Knight as the 'visionary' behind the Masters of the Universe movie. After successfully launching the stop-motion animation house Laika, Knight would go on to direct Bumblebee, the best reviewed entry in the live-action Transformers franchise, which brought a previously unseen heart to the series. Mattel's CCO seems to feel he has done the same with He-Man, saying… [Director] Travis [Knight] is just a visionary. He's an incredible filmmaker. I think that people are going to be so delighted with this new rendition. I think people are kind of over swords and capes, and we need to find something different. This movie is heartfelt, it's fun, the action is amazing. It's inspirational, it's aspirational. It's a coming-of-age story with an amazing, colorful, insane backdrop. Beyond a few teasing images that don't show much, we haven't seen anything about the Masters of the Universe movie, which will star Nicholas Galitzine as the iconic He-Man. Despite its apparent differences, Mattel is certainly hoping that Masters of the Universe will be like Barbie in at least one major way, its box office success. Solve the daily Crossword

Alison Brie Debunks Rumor About Live-Action Masters Of The Universe Movie

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. One of the more highly anticipated releases on the upcoming movie calendar has to be the 2026 version of Masters of the Universe. The popular franchise has been trying to get a live-action movie off the ground for years, and now the movie is finally happening. Although there's a lot about it we still don't know. One of the questions that has been up in the air for some time has been the film's tone. Based on an '80s cartoon that was silly as it was action-packed, recent rumors have implied the new film might be approaching the material from a more serious angle. While speaking to Collider, Alison Brie, who will play Evil-Lyn in the new film, implies that won't be the case. She said… Who said it's leaning a little more serious? I don't think they know as much as they think they know. That's all I'm gonna say. While not giving a definitive answer to the tone question, Brie certainly implies that the new Masters of the Universe movie is not 'leaning a little more serious,' which would mean that there will be at least some humor to be found in the film. Whether or not one would classify the movie as a comedy remains to be seen. Alongside Alison Brie's Evil-Lyn, the Masters of the Universe movie has a solid cast that includes Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Nicholas Galitzine as the lead hero, He-Man. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, the cartoon that was created to sell the action figures of the same name, was mostly an adventure series, but it had comedic characters, like Orko the unreliable magician, and Cringer, the cowardly pet tiger of Prince Adam who transformed into Battle Cat when Adam became He-Man. Even the ostensibly heroic ones were capable of being silly now and then. It wouldn't have been that shocking if the plan had been to do some sort of serious take on Masters of the Universe. It often seems studios are afraid that an adaptation that isn't played perfectly straight won't be taken seriously by the audience. And the material certainly could work as a traditional sword and sorcery fantasy epic, something that closely resembled Netflix's Witcher series or even Game of Thrones in tone. It certainly sounds like things won't be quite that serious. If Masters of the Universe isn't looking to be more serious, we could get something that's a similar balance of action and humor as the original animated series. It would still have plenty of serious action, but with some lighter moments as well. For those hoping Masters of the Universe is a 'faithful' adaptation of the original material, it sounds like that could certainly happen. Solve the daily Crossword
