Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Every year, the NFL sees fresh young faces come in and take the league by storm. However, few have been able to do so the way Jayden Daniels did last season for the Washington Commanders. The buzz around the young quarterback continues to soar, as he continues to be stamped as one of the league's top up-and-coming talents. With his mix of speed and throwing ability, Daniels provided an instant boost to the Commanders' offense. He also proved he is capable of coming up big in the clutch, providing multiple memorable moments. Despite only being a rookie, he nearly led Washington to the Super Bowl. Even though his sample size is very small, many feel they've seen enough from Daniels. Many people in and around the NFL believe he is well on his way to being the next big thing in the league. More Photo by/Getty Images Ahead of the 2025 season, the people at The Athletic decided to compile a "Top 25 under 25" list. Fresh off an impressive rookie season, Daniels nearly secured the top spot in these rankings. He ended up being slotted in at No. 3, trailing only Jalen Carter and Ja'Marr Chase. "The 2024 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year led a long-awaited revival in Washington last season by repeatedly delivering late-game heroics and confounding defenses with his arm and legs as Washington reached the NFC Championship Game for the first time since the 1991-92 season," wrote The Athletic's Mike Jones. Daniels was the top quarterback on this list, beating out the likes of CJ Stroud and Trevor Lawrence. Though they have more NFL experience under their belts, they haven't reached a similar level of success as the Commanders' rising star. Based on his brief preseason appearance, he seems prepared to build off his strong play last year. Daniels only ended up playing a handful of snaps against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, but still managed to turn heads. The Commanders' QB pulled off a 14-yard run in the red zone that resulted in a touchdown. While the Commanders still have business to attend to regarding multiple members of the offense, their franchise cornerstone looks ready to lead them on what they hope is another deep run. Watch Jayden Daniels call his own number for TD vs. Bengals

The post Watch Jayden Daniels call his own number for TD vs. Bengals appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Washington Commanders are taking on the Cincinnati Bengals in a Monday Night Football preseason matchup. NFL fans are eager to see if Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels can build on his sensational rookie season in 2025. However, Washington has exercised caution with their franchise passer. Daniels was held out of the Commanders' preseason debut last week. And the second-year passer played sparingly on Monday. But Daniels made the most of his brief appearance against the Bengals. After Cincinnati opened the contest with a 58-yard touchdown drive, Daniels answered in the following series. Wideout Deebo Samuel and RB Chris Rodriguez picked up chunk gains on the ground, setting up a 2nd & 9 from the Bengals' 14-yard line. That's when Daniels took matters into his own hands, displaying the duel threat ability that launched him to stardom as a rookie. Working out of the shotgun in the red zone, Daniels scanned the field for an open receiver before tucking the ball and taking off. Daniels weaved through the pass rush, outran a linebacker and broke a tackle at the goal line to score a 14-yard touchdown. Jayden Daniels set for standout sophomore season with Commanders While Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow remained in the game for the first three Cincinnati drives, Daniels' day was done after the Commanders' first series. He did not attempt a pass and finished the contest with just the one carry for 14 yards and a score. The second overall pick in the 2024 draft, Daniels took home Offensive Rookie of the Year honors last season. He helped the team rebound from a 4-13 finish in 2023, leading Washington to a 12-5 record. With Daniels under center, the Commanders reached the playoffs and got their first postseason win since 2005. Much is expected of the young passer in his sophomore campaign. Daniels places among the NFL's elite quarterbacks according to preseason rankings. The biggest concern fans and analysts have involves Daniels' top pass catcher. Star wideout Terry McLaurin is holding out this offseason amid a contract dispute. The sixth-year receiver missed his second straight preseason game on Monday as the conflict threatens to spill into the regular season. Former LSU stars Joe Burrow-Jayden Daniels moment grabs attention after NFL clash

The post Former LSU stars Joe Burrow-Jayden Daniels moment grabs attention after NFL clash appeared first on ClutchPoints. The NFL preseason brought together two familiar faces from Baton Rouge, as former LSU Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels went head-to-head on Monday night. While the Cincinnati Bengals walked away with a 31-17 win over the Washington Commanders, the real headline came after the game—a heartfelt embrace between Burrow and Daniels that reminded fans of LSU's remarkable quarterback lineage. Joe Burrow, the 2019 national champion and 2020 Heisman winner, showed why Cincinnati is counting on him to set the tone early this season. Playing three possessions, Burrow completed 9 of 14 passes for 62 yards and one touchdown. His sharpest moment came on a four-yard strike to wide receiver Charlie Jones, capping off his final series of the night. Burrow also guided the Bengals on a 58-yard opening drive, finished by running back Chase Brown's one-yard plunge on fourth-and-goal. For a team that has often stumbled out of the gates in recent seasons, Cincinnati's preseason approach has been deliberate: keep the starters in long enough to build rhythm. Through two games with Burrow under center, the Bengals have scored touchdowns on four of five drives. 'Those reps are incredibly valuable,' Burrow said postgame. 'Usually you iron out those kinks in September, but we're getting that done now.' On the other sideline, Jayden Daniels, LSU's 2023 Heisman winner and reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, wasted no time reminding fans of his electrifying athleticism. In his lone possession, Daniels orchestrated a quick 74-yard drive that ended with a dazzling 14-yard touchdown run. Evading defenders and refusing to slide, Daniels powered straight through traffic to even the score at 7-7. The Commanders opted to keep his workload light, especially with several offensive starters sidelined. Daniels did not attempt a pass, but his legs proved more than enough. 'I'm just playing football,' Daniels said. 'I know it's preseason, but once I'm out there, it's a game to me.' When the final whistle blew, cameras caught the moment fans had been waiting for: Burrow and Daniels meeting at midfield, exchanging smiles, words of encouragement, and a long embrace. The hug was more than just a postgame ritual; it was a symbolic passing of the torch between LSU's back-to-back Heisman quarterbacks, each carving his own legacy in the NFL. For LSU supporters, it was a snapshot of pride. From Burrow's historic 2019 season to Daniels' dynamic 2023 campaign, the Tigers have produced generational talents who continue to make headlines beyond Baton Rouge. Social media lit up with reactions, with many fans calling it a 'full-circle LSU moment' and others pointing out that no program has showcased quarterback excellence quite like LSU in recent years. While the preseason matchup will quickly fade into the background as both teams prepare for the regular season, the Burrow-Daniels meeting will be remembered. For Cincinnati, Burrow's steady play suggests the Bengals are ironing out early-season issues that previously haunted them. For Washington, Daniels' brief but electric cameo is yet another reminder of why he's viewed as the future of the franchise. But for LSU fans, the scoreboard mattered less than the sight of two of their own embracing under the NFL lights, a moment that bridged past glory and future promise, and once again proved that LSU's quarterback tradition is alive and well.
