Vernon Kay has confessed to feeling "terrible", suspecting that he's been "diagnosed by the nation" with a potential health issue.
During his stint on BBC Radio 2, Vernon revealed that he was feeling a "bit ropey" yesterday. This led the 51-year-old presenter to admit that he suffers from an allergy to seafood.
This means that Vernon is unable to consume prawns or cockles - a variety of small edible shellfish. He claims to have discovered this allergy after undergoing a test.
However, Vernon suspects he might need another test, as listeners have expressed concerns about his health. He shared this revelation after playing a jingle promoting the BBC iPlayer coverage of Radio 1's Big Weekend.
It's estimated that around 100,000 people flocked to Liverpool's Sefton Park for the three-day festival last weekend. The line-up included performances from Tom Grennan, Mumford and Sons, Biffy Clyro, and Wet Leg, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Vernon said: "Radio 1, how are you feeling? A bit ropey, no, honestly, terrible, I'm sure I've eaten a prawn or a cockle. I'm allergic to cockles.
When asked if it has been a "big problem", Vernon replied: "It's not like I stumble upon a pot of cockles on a regular basis, but you know when you do one of them tests where they check your blood.
"I did it ages ago but I'm going to do another one because I talk about it on the radio and a lot of people think I might be lactose intolerant. Honestly, I've been diagnosed by the nation without having a face-to-face consultation.
"Tess Daly from Strictly Come Dancing is going to do one and I'm going to do one as well. The last one I did, yeah, cockles."

When asked if he had ever had a cockle, Vernon replied: "No. It's like dipping your foot in a pool of lava. 'Oh, I know that's dangerous, why don't I try it?'
"Winkles were very popular on the beach at Blackpool and I think my mum and dad used to like them with a lot of vinegar, not for me. In the polystyrene cups you used to get winkles and cockles and clams and all that kind of stuff."
Vernon found love with Tess Daly as they both seized the spotlight on competing broadcasters—Vernon on Channel 4 with T4 and Tess on ITV's SMTV Live.
Their romance flourished, leading to their wedding on 12 September 2003 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Horwich, just outside Bolton. The power couple now enjoy family life in Buckinghamshire alongside their daughters Phoebe, 20, and Amber, 15.
Following Ken Bruce's departure in 2023, Vernon Kay took over the mid-morning slot on Radio 2, having previously filled in for presenters like Rylan Clarke and Zoe Ball.

All four episodes of 'excellent' true crime drama available to stream on BBC

A new German true crime drama, The Black Forest Murders, has arrived on BBC iPlayer. The synopsis for the four-episode series reads: 'The clock is ticking… When a woman is bludgeoned to death, detectives face mounting pressure to crack the case and catch a killer.' And is described as an 'intense crime drama inspired by real-life cases.' The show is based on the non-fiction Walter Roth book which follows a 2016 police investigation into the mysterious murders of two young women in the south of Germany. In the show we see Senior Detective Barbara Kramer (Nina Kunzendorf) of the Lauburg police and her team, including Thomas Riedle (Tilman Strauß), embark on an investigation to apprehend the perpetrator. But as they hit dead-end after dead-end and little success through talking to witnesses and gathering evidence, the police face 'mounting pressure' to provide answers. Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, called the show an 'authentic and compelling crime series focussing on the work of a meticulous investigative team.' She added: 'As well as being a gripping murder mystery, the series offers a detailed look at the challenges of solving complex crimes, and the psychological toll on those involved in such high-stakes investigations.' 'I watched the entire series in one sitting and thought it was excellent. The meticulous investigation was amazing. Nina Kunzendorf was at her best as a fair and likeable boss in a strong team,'Sylvia Strobl praised on Google reviews. 'I found this four-part series extremely good. It was exciting, with good dialogue… and a very good portrayal of a real series of murders. The actors did a very good job, especially Ms. Kramer, who acted convincingly. It was a glimpse behind the scenes of a special investigation unit,' Karen Sabine Feuerhahm added. 'A wonderfully authentic and unpretentious narrative, a crime story like you'd only wish for, not cluttered with ridiculous subplots and overly contrived action. A fantastic team around Nina Kunzendorfer, who always remains believable,' Rike Straub echoed. The Guardian has a slightly cooler, but still praiseworthy, take, writing: ' Its attention to every single moving part means that the drama itself moves very slowly, and it is not so much a thriller as a satisfying puzzle, steadily coming together. Not a bad drama, then, but not a revolutionary one, either.' More Trending Elsewhere, The Sydney Morning Herald praised the drama as 'outstanding.' 'There are no grand deductive leaps, no cat-and-mouse interviews with a prime suspect. This is a gripping procedural founded on detail and diligence,' the publication added. Both also compared the show to Netflix's Swedish drama The Breakthrough, which also follows the story of a 'shocking double homicide which goes unsolved for 16 years.' Antiques Roadshow guest gobsmacked at price tag of 'beautiful' family heirloom

Antiques Roadshow guest gobsmacked at price tag of 'beautiful' family heirloom Antiques Roadshow expert Rupert Maas left a guest stunned as he revealed the true value of a junk shop item on Sunday A guest on Antiques Roadshow was utterly gobsmacked upon discovering the unexpected worth of a "junk shop" item on Sunday (June 1). Tonight's episode of the cherished BBC programme took place at Nottingham's majestic Wollaton Hall, where townsfolk gathered with their cherished possessions for expert valuations. ‌ Art expert Rupert Maas evaluated a monochrome portrait of Edwardian icon Princess Daisy of Pless during the episode. ‌ "So, in a grand house like this, you need a very grand lady. And doesn't she look rather like a debutante? She's very beautiful," Rupert began. The guest recounted how her father acquired the painting in a Watford second-hand store for only £13.50. An Antiques Roadshow guest was left speechless on Sunday (June 1) ‌ "So I said, 'Yeah, go get it.' About 1974 this was. And then I've got it, and I'm afraid it's not anywhere at the moment," she revealed. Rupert pinpointed the creation date of the artwork to 1902, prompting the woman to share some personal history of the princess born in 1873. "On her first season in London, she met the Prince of Pless, the richest prince in Germany, and he asked her to marry him. She said, 'I don't love you,' and he said, 'It doesn't matter,'" shared the owner, reports the Express. ‌ "And the Cornwallis-Wests, as she was then, were quite poor. They absolutely jumped at the chance. And he paid for the whole wedding. She was a real society lady." Not long after the portrait was taken, Princess Daisy would mother three boys, following the tragic loss of her first daughter. A debutante painting was valued at £2,000 to £3,000 ‌ Rupert explained that the portrait was captured by Ellis Roberts, a prominent society portrait artist in London, renowned for his exclusive network of wealthy and celebrated clients. "He would work fast in charcoal and some white across the top and along the highlights, especially in the jewellery, but mostly it's charcoal and then smudged with the thumb just to give a subtlety in the modelling of the face and the lighting of it," the expert shared. "Quick but assured, and that's what's good about this. It's lively, straight from life." Article continues below "You're going to be hanging it again, I hope, especially when I tell you what it's worth," Rupert then said, before disclosing that the item carried a value between £2,000 to £3,000. "Really? Gosh! I was thinking you were going to say a couple of hundred," the stunned guest replied, as Rupert acknowledged that "it's not a huge amount, but it's a lot more than he paid".
