That's So Raven star hospitalised with life-threatening illness as fans donate to save actor
Beloved actor Rondell Sheridan, known to millions as Victor Baxter from Disney's That's So Raven, has been quietly battling a serious health crisis - but now he's turning to fans for support during one of the most difficult chapters of his life.
The 65-year-old performer became gravely ill while traveling in April, which ended up with him staying in hospital. It was later revealed he has been diagnosed with what friends describe as an 'extremely severe case of pancreatitis.'
Sheridan, who also starred in Cory in the House and Raven's Home, broke his silence on social media Tuesday to share the news of his condition and ask for help via a GoFundMe campaign. The fundraiser, organized by close friend Isabel Beyoso, has already raised around $25,000 toward its $35,000 goal.
'Hello friends and family. My name is Isabel Beyoso, and I am creating this page on behalf of my very dear friend Rondell Sheridan because he has been admitted to the hospital twice in the last month due to an extremely severe case of pancreatitis,' Beyoso wrote in the appeal.
According to her update, Sheridan has been unable to work since April 12, 2025—and doctors have not been able to determine when, or if, he'll be well enough to return. 'He has not been able to work since April 12, 2025 and will not be able to return to work for the unforeseeable future,' she continued.
At this stage, medical teams are monitoring him closely but are limited in what they can do. 'The doctors have said he just has to wait for his pancreas to do what it's going to do before any further treatment can be considered,' Beyoso explained, adding, 'In the meantime, he will be mostly bedridden, while in recovery.'
Supporters are being asked to help ease the financial burden while Sheridan focuses on healing. 'If we can all come together to help him financially for his medical and monthly bills while his body heals, I know this will be one giant stress we can collectively take off his shoulders, so that he can focus on resting, recovering, and healing,' Beyoso wrote. 'Every little bit helps and he appreciates you immensely,' the message concluded.
In addition to his Disney Channel fame, Sheridan has had roles in The Jamie Foxx Show, Kenan & Kel, Cousin Skeeter, and A Different World, earning a devoted fan base across generations. Now, that same fan base is being called on to help one of their favorite sitcom dads through an unexpected health battle.

Disney sues Hong Kong company it says is selling illegal Mickey Mouse jewelry
The Walt Disney Co. on Wednesday sued a Hong Kong jewelry company it accuses of selling illegal Mickey Mouse jewelry. The international media and entertainment conglomerate filed a lawsuit in federal court in Los Angeles against the Red Earth Group, which sells jewelry online under the name Satéur. Disney says the rings, necklaces and earrings in Satéur's 'Mickey 1928 Collection' violate its trademark rights and that the Hong Kong company is deliberately trying to fool customers into thinking the pieces are official Disney merchandise. Satéur, the suit alleges, 'intends to present Mickey Mouse as its own brand identifier for its jewelry merchandise and "seeks to trade on the recognizability of the Mickey Mouse trademarks and consumers' affinity for Disney and its iconic ambassador Mickey Mouse.' A message seeking comment from representatives of the Red Earth Group was not immediately answered. The lawsuit is indicative of Disney's dogged efforts to protect its intellectual property from unauthorized appropriation. Although the earliest version of Mickey Mouse entered the public domain last year after Disney's copyright expired, the company still holds trademark rights to the character. Lawyers for Disney argue in the suit that Red Earth's online marketing efforts 'extensively trade on the Mickey Mouse trademarks and the Disney brand' with language that includes describing the jewelry as great for 'Disney enthusiasts.' Such tactics indicate Red Earth was 'intentionally trying to confuse consumers,' the lawsuit says. The impression created, it says, "suggests, at a minimum, a partnership or collaboration with Disney.' The earliest depiction of Mickey Mouse, who first appeared publicly in the film short 'Steamboat Willie' in 1928, are now in the U.S. public domain. The widely publicized moment was considered a landmark in iconography going public. The lawsuit alleges that Red Earth and Satéur are trying to use that status as a 'ruse' to suggest the jewelry is legal, by dubbing it the 'Mickey 1928 Collection' and saying it is being sold in tribute to the mouse's first appearance. The centerpiece of the collection, the suit says, is a piece of jewelry marketed as the "Satéur Mickey 1928 Classique Ring,' which has a Steamboat Willie charm sitting on the band holding a synthetic stone. But there is an essential difference between copyright — which protects works of art — and trademark — which protects a company's brand. Even if a character is in the public domain, it cannot be used on merchandise in a way that suggests it is from the company with the trademark, as Disney alleges Red Earth is doing. 'Disney remains committed to guarding against unlawful trademark infringement and protecting consumers from confusion caused by unauthorized uses of Mickey Mouse and our other iconic characters,' Disney said in a statement Wednesday. The lawsuit seeks an injunction against Red Earth selling the jewelry or trading on Disney's trademark in any other way, along with monetary damages to be determined later.

BREAKING NEWS Bass guitarist for iconic punk band Comeback Kid dies after short health battle
Former Comeback Kid bassist Matt Keil has died after a year-long battle with the incurable degenerative neurological disorder, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Keil, 39, from Minnesota, played with the Canadian punk band from 2008 to 2004 and was featured on two of their albums, 'Symptoms + Cures' and 'Die Knowing.' The father-of-two was diagnosed with the devastating neurological disorder on May 2, 2024. ALS, which is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, impacts the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control. It is a fatal disease with no known cure. Comeback Kid posted a heartfelt tribute to the former bassist on social media, confirming he passed away on Sunday. 'It's with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our longtime friend and previous bass player Matt Keil,' the band said. 'He was such an amazing friend and musician. Just the greatest guy to tour with, be around, and explore the new countries in the world with. 'We are sending our love to his wife Maddie and his two daughters and want to honor his memory for our all years to come. We love you Matt K.' About half of ALS patients have a life expectancy of three years after the initial onset of symptoms, though some can survive for decades. The rare and incurable degenerative condition impairs the nervous system over time and causes the muscles to increasingly suffer from paralysis. After his diagnosis, Keil's loved ones launched a GoFundMe to support his wife Maddie and their two daughters, Ellie, 9, and Zoey, 7. 'You may know Matt Keil as a loving husband of 12 years to Maddie, or as a dedicated father,' the fundraiser said. 'You may also know him as a successful realtor, impassioned musician, and member of the Twin Cities community. However Matt has been a part of your life, you know that he is one of the kindest, most generous, hilarious, and genuine people. 'Matt would love nothing more than to live the rest of his years spending time with his family, traveling to the lake in Wisconsin, golfing, making music with friends, cheering on his daughters at soccer and gymnastics, or watching silly movies with the love of his life.' His wife released a heartbreaking tribute reflecting on their marriage after his passing. 'It is with a shattered heart that I share that the love of my life and my very best friend passed away yesterday afternoon after a 19-month-long battle with ALS,' she said. 'We shared a harmonious marriage filled with laughter and joy. He was an amazing parent, my own personal comedian, and the very best partner. I will miss you for the rest of my life. I love you forever.'

'All-time classic series' dubbed a 'television masterpiece' is now streaming free
It has been added to the platform for free as part of a new deal An 'all-time classic series' dubbed a 'television masterpiece' is now streaming for free. The first season of award-winning comedy drama series Atlanta, is now available to watch at no extra cost on ITVX. The show, created by Donald Glover, otherwise known as Childish Gambino was produced by FX and previously only accessible via Disney+. However, thanks to a unique deal between the two companies, the broadcaster and corporation behind Star Wars and Marvel, have begun to swap titles on each other's streaming platforms. From today (July 16) the first batch was made available on ITVX under the banner, Taste of Disney+. This includes season one of Atlanta. Although the remaining three seasons remain available only on Disney+. The show boasts a near perfect score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and would go on to pick up seven Emmys during its four season run. Glover stars as Earn, who works as a manager for his cousin Alfred, an upcoming rapper, and they try to make a name for themselves in the music industry. Throughout, Earn struggles with providing for his child and long term partner. The show also provided breakout roles for Brian Tyree Henry who would go on to feature in the Spider-Verse movies, Knives Out star LaKeith Stanfield and Deadpool 2's Zazie Beetz. Atlanta was an instant hit with the critics and is expected to have its fanbase grow even larger now the first season is available for free. Actually one of the best TV series ever in my opinion.. so many subtle messages to decipher from each episode and a great comedy aspect to it too. On its debut, The Guardian claimed it was 'the smartest and funniest show on TV.' Viewers were also full of praise, with one posting on Metacritic saying: "A television masterpiece. Donald Glover has created an all-time classic series. Has a ton of rewatchability. It's hilarious, inciteful and just feels fresh. Easy 10/10." Another described what they admire about it in more detail: "One of THE best shows on TV right now. Don't watch it expecting a clean cut story line. It has one but the focus is not really on that. The show presents real and surreal situations and moments to force the audience to think critically (or not) about those situations. "It can be funny, it can be dramatic, it can be creepy and scary, which is what makes Atlanta so great and different from a lot of tv shows who choose to stay in one or two lanes.." Someone else shared their thoughts online saying: "One of the best written shows to date. Real, fleshed-out characters you actually care about. Compelling story that has meaning without being too on-the-nose. Witty and funny and entertaining, I would definitely recommend giving Atlanta a go."
