CM SHRI test: Aug 22 last date for application submission for classes 6-8
According to the circular issued by the Directorate of Education, earlier the last date for form submission was set for August 15. However, considering the overwhelming response and requests from applicants and stakeholders the date has been pushed to 11.59 pm on August 22.
The date for conducting the CM SHRI Admission Test for academic session 2025-2026 has also been revised from August 30 to September 6, it said. The Delhi government is likely to inaugurate its newly announced CM SHRI Schools in September, an official said, as preparations to operationalise the institutions gather pace.
The initiative, announced earlier this year, aims to offer high-quality, future-ready education in government schools. It is modelled after the Centre's PM SHRI Schools and will follow the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The CM SHRI Schools will implement the National Curriculum Framework 2023.
Each school will be equipped with AI-enabled libraries, smart classrooms featuring augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) tools, smartboards, biometric attendance systems and robotics laboratories to promote innovation among students.
The Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) is also being phased out, and its affiliated schools will now be brought under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had allocated Rs 100 crore for the CM SHRI Schools in her budget speech earlier this year. PTI SHB New Delhi, Aug 13 (PTI) The deadline for submitting online applications for 'CM SHRI Admission Test 2025' for classes 6,7 and 8 has been extended to August 22, the Delhi government said in a circular issued on Tuesday.

Zelenskyy Urges India's Help To End Russia-Ukraine War As Trump Meets Putin At Alaska
Last Updated: Zelenskyy extended wishes to Modi on the occasion of India's Independence Day and referenced their recent phone call earlier this week. As US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin meet in Anchorage, Alaska, for talks aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has voiced strong concerns about being left out of the negotiations. Zelenskyy insists that no final deal should be reached without Ukraine's direct involvement. Amid mounting anxiety over the summit, Zelenskyy has turned to India, reaching out with a symbolic and timely message for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Just hours before the Trump-Putin meeting began, Zelenskyy extended wishes to Modi on the occasion of India's Independence Day and referenced their recent phone call earlier this week. 'Our nations share the experience of standing up for freedom and dignity, as well as the pursuit of peace and development," Zelenskyy wrote. In the same message, the Ukrainian President expressed hope that India would step forward to play a role in ending the ongoing war. 'We hope that India will contribute to efforts aimed at ending the war, so that our freedom and sovereignty are truly secure," he added. Congratulations to the people of India, President @rashtrapatibhvn, and Prime Minister @narendramodi on the Independence Day!This week we had a good, candid conversation with Prime Minister @narendramodi when I had an opportunity to personally convey my best wishes on this… — Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський (@ZelenskyyUa) August 15, 2025 The message to India comes at a critical juncture, as President Putin sits down with Trump to explore possible solutions to the nearly four-year-long conflict. European leaders, along with Zelenskyy, remain wary of what concessions Trump might be willing to entertain. Earlier this week, Trump held a virtual meeting with Zelenskyy and several European heads of state, where he reiterated his support for Ukraine. According to two European diplomats who spoke to CNN, Trump told participants that he would advocate for an unconditional ceasefire during his discussions with Putin. The sources also noted that Trump stated the issue of Ukrainian territory was 'not for him to negotiate." Zelenskyy also held a separate call with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff ahead of the summit. While he sees the Trump-Putin meeting as a symbolic win for Putin, Zelenskyy remains cautiously hopeful. Trump has hinted that if today's talks in Alaska go well, a trilateral summit involving Ukraine could follow. view comments First Published: August 16, 2025, 02:25 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Handshakes, Chuckles & Sharing POTUS' ‘Beast' Car: Watch Trump's Warm Welcome To Putin In Alaska
Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin shook hands as they met after years for talks on Ukraine war. Trump gave Putin a warm welcome in front of the cameras and took him in his own car. Handshakes, smiles, and warmth were on display as Russian President Vladimir Putin met Donald Trump for an all-important summit in Alaska, where the two leaders held discussions on the Ukraine conflict, without the presence of Volodymyr Zelenskyy. As Trump deboarded his Air Force One, he walked down the red carpet laid out for Putin. The Russian President walked up to his US counterpart and shook hands. Warmth was on full display as both leaders seemingly held a friendly conversation. Then they walked to the stage with 'Alaska 2025" written on it. As they started moving from the spot, Trump invited Putin to join him in his vehicle, Russian state media reported. Putin skipped using his own Aurus limousine and rode with Trump in Trump's armored car, 'The Beast'. Russian state media RIA Novosti reported that Trump invited Putin to join him in his car, to which the Russian President agreed. The two leaders shared a chuckle after getting into the POTUS' 'The Beast' car. It is highly unusual to see the leaders of two superpowers – in this case adversaries – ride in the same limousine. There did not appear to be interpreters in the vehicle, and Putin speaks English well enough to hold a conversation with Trump. This may add to the mystery of what the two leaders discuss in private on the high-stakes visit, New York Times reported. Russia 24 described the early exchange between the two leaders as 'extremely friendly". view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. CM Rekha Gupta vows to open Atal canteens, calls herself ‘mukhya sevika' of Delhi in her maiden I-Day speech
In her maiden Independence Day address, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta referred to herself as Delhi's 'mukhya sevika (chief servant)' and said that the Delhi government will open 'Atal canteens', offering subsidised meals, on December 25, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The CM also said that the government will provide every slum dweller with a house and reiterated her pledge to clean the Yamuna river. Pledge to clean Yamuna 'Mother Yamuna is Delhi's soul and is in the heart of every Delhiite. Over the years, it has become polluted. Several promises were made [to clean the Yamuna], but not much was done. Today, I'm not just promising but pledging to rejuvenate the Yamuna,' Ms. Gupta said at an event in Chhatrasal Stadium, where she hoisted the tricolour and presented awards to several Delhi government officials. In her budget speech, the CM had announced ₹100 crore for 100 Atal canteens, where meals would be offered at ₹5. Recalling the promise made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that 'every slum dweller in Delhi will get a house', Ms. Gupta said the government won't just provide houses to poor people, it will give them the right to live with dignity. 'I will ensure security for my sisters and a better future for their children,' she said. The CM said her government is working towards making Delhi's infrastructure the best in the country. 'As soon as we formed the government, we started working on waterlogging and potholes. Today, water gets drained from the roads much faster,' she said. Ms. Gupta added that the government will free the national capital of garbage, filth, corruption, red tape, and the 'mindset of servitude'. She accused the previous government of depriving Delhi's residents of the benefits of Ayushman Bharat, the Central government's flagship health insurance scheme, and said that she implemented the programme in the city on the very first day of taking the oath. 'So far, 4.5 lakh people have enrolled in the scheme and started receiving treatment. Under the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana (AVVY), 2.26 lakh senior citizens above 70 years of age have been provided free treatment of up to ₹10 lakh,' said the first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh. AVVY allows those aged 70 and above to avail of free secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation of up to ₹10 lakh. Currently, around 100 hospitals in the Capital are registered under the scheme. She said that to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure, the government has set itself the target of setting up 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, of which work on 166 has been completed so far. Expansion of hospitals Later this month, work on five major hospitals will start, through which Delhi will get 1,300 new beds, new outpatient departments, and state-of-the-art medical equipment, the CM said. Ms. Gupta also paid tribute to freedom fighters and hailed the armed forces for their role in Operation Sindoor. Later, she interacted with the children and personnel from Delhi police and Delhi Fire Services.
