Oasis fans offered tips to avoid travel chaos after gigs at Murrayfield Stadium

Daily Mirror22-06-2025
Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher will be at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on the Oasis Live '25 Tour, with fans of acts like Taylor Swift offering advice to concertgoers
Fans of Oasis have been offered advice from supporters of acts like Taylor Swift and Robbie Williams ahead of the band's reunion tour. It comes ahead of Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher playing gigs at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.
There's concern about getting home from the venue, which has a capacity of 67,000, in August. It comes following the experiences of Taylor's fans, who grappled with transport difficulties last June when the international singer dazzled crowds over three nights at the venue during her Era's Tour.

Now, as the countdown to the Oasis gigs on August 8, 9 and 12 continues, fans of the band have been issued advice, as reported by the Daily Record. It includes them having been dissuaded from using Haymarket station – advice shared on a Reddit thread entitled: "People of Glasgow that are going to Oasis in Edinburgh, how are we getting home?''

The user sparked discussion about how people that live outside of Edinburgh are planning to get home. The post read: "As per title, are people chancing being able to get a train home? A coach? A million pound taxi? I'm really not sure of the best plan of action..."
One Swiftie from Glasgow suggested: "Tip from when I was at Taylor Swift last year. Everyone will be trying to get a train from Haymarket, and it'll be f***ing mobbed." Advising instead: "Head to Waverly (either via tram or just walk) and get on the train there, it'll be significantly quieter, and you'll likely get a table seat as well, rather than being stuck standing."
There's also been advice from someone who attended Robbie Williams' gig in Edinburgh, where he kicked off his BRIT POP world tour at the end of last month. Offering their advice, they said: "We were at Robbie Williams on Saturday and Citylink buses were pretty decent.
"Drop you right outside the stadium and pick you up just a little bit further away be prepared for a bit of [a] wait though because it's busy. So the concert finished at 10:30 and we were on the bus by about 11:30."

Another person chimed in to the discussion reassuring revellers about late-night transportation between cities: "The buses run 24 hours between Glasgow and Edinburgh. I don't think it will be that bad trying to get home via public transport."
There was however a word of caution about high demand to book ahead from someone else. They wrote: "Make sure to book the [CityLink] 900 and AIR buses ahead of time, they fill up quickly."
Another person suggested similarly, writing in part of their response: "Citylink run all night. Happy Bus run private coach transfers from Buchanan to the event and back."

A different user offered a more unconventional tip for catching a quieter bus: "Head to a club till you're completely knackered then head for a bus (they run 24/7 as previously mentioned). By that time most folk will have f***ed off already."
Oasis fans are buzzing with anticipation as the band is set to rock Murrayfield Stadium with three gigs this summer on August 8, 9 and 12. The much-awaited reunion tour marks the first time the Gallagher brothers will share the stage in 16 years, with the opening show set to take place in Cardiff on July 4.

Taylor Swift's economic pull makes orange the new green for big brands

Taylor Swift's upcoming album release and her love of all things orange isn't lost on her fans - or brands that are seeking a ride on what has become an enormous economic tailwind. On Wednesday after Swift went on the 'New Heights' podcast co-hosted by her boyfriend and NFL football star Travis Kelce to announce the imminent release of her 12th studio album 'The Life of a Showgirl,' major companies went into marketing overdrive. The reason? Swift's ability to generate buzz and draw dollars. Swift's tour appearances have become economic events. The singer's Eras Tour two years ago was the first such tour to cross the billion-dollar mark, according to Pollstar's 2023 year-end charts. Cities and their surrounding areas registered a sizeable economic boost after Swift appeared, with thousands of fans making the pilgrimage and spending money at hotels, restaurants and elsewhere. Companies are no longer waiting to capitalize on Swift's gravitational pull and orange-themed memes from big brands began rolling out almost immediately. That is because Swift appeared onstage wearing orange numerous times towards the end of her Eras Tour and she discussed her feelings about the color on the Wednesday podcast. Numerous corporations, from United Airlines to Olive Garden, began posting orange hued memes on their own social media accounts soon after the new album was announced. Shake Shack, FedEx, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cinnabon, Walmart and Netflix did, too. Even X got in on the action, declaring that it had a new profile pic: a glittery orange X. The post hsa garnered 5.5 million views so far. Google is using its search engine to celebrate the October release of Swift's 'The Life of a Showgirl.' Users search for 'Taylor Swift,' are greeted with a stream of orange digital confetti, along with a flaming orange heart and the phrase, 'And, baby, that's show business for you.' Many, it seemed, saw value in tying their brand to Swift. Swift mentioned during the Wednesday podcast that she had Lasik eye surgery. The X account for wasted no time promoting the fortuitous namedrop. 'i got LASIK, i have incredible vision,' they posted, accompanied by a video of Swift giving a shout out to the procedure on the 'New Heights' podcast. 'TAYLOR SWIFT EVERYONE (red heart emoji). WE'VE PEEKED!!!!!!!!' The post currently has more than 389,000 views and 15,000 likes.

Taylor Swift reveals details of The Life of a Showgirl ahead of October release: ‘Infectiously joyful and wild'

Taylor Swift has revealed more details about her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, which includes a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter on the title track and will be released 3 October. The singer shared the cover and track listing for The Life of a Showgirl on Wednesday night, timed for her appearance on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast New Heights, which he hosts with his brother, the former fellow professional footballer Jason Kelce. The Life of a Showgirl has 12 tracks – a nod to this being her 12th album – and includes a cover of George Michael's 1987 song Father Figure. Swift told the Kelce brothers that the album was recorded in Europe while she was on her global Eras tour and is inspired by her life while spending two years on the road. The Eras tour became the first billion-dollar tour in history and ended up making more than US$2bn over 21 months. 'This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant,' she said. 'I'm so proud of it. And it comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life, so that effervescence has come through on this record. So as you said, bangers.' Unlike her previous album, The Tortured Poets Department, she would not be dropping a second surprise album right afterwards, she said. 'There are no other songs coming … with Tortured Poets Department, I was like, 'Here is a data dump of everything I have thought, felt, experienced in two or three years. Here's 31 songs.' This is 12. There's not a 13th, there's not other ones coming. This is the record I've been wanting to make for a very long time.' The track listing is: The Fate of Ophelia Elizabeth Taylor Opalite Father Figure Eldest Daughter Ruin the Friendship Actually Romantic Wi$h Li$t Wood Cancelled! The album marks the return of Max Martin and Shellback, the Swedish producers who worked on Swift's albums Red, 1989 and Reputation. Swift called the two men 'geniuses' and credited them for working on her favourite of her songs including Shake It Off and Blank Space. Fans have long speculated that her next songs will draw on Swift's relationship with Kelce, which they revealed publicly in 2023. 'Every single song is on this album for hundreds of reasons. You couldn't take one out and it be the same album, you couldn't add one. It is just right. That focus and that kind of discipline with creating an album and keeping the bar really high is something I have wanted to do for a very long time,' Swift said. 'I tend to love to write lots and lots of music, so it's a temptation to release lots of music,' she added. 'But I wanted to do an album that was so focused on quality and the theme and everything fitting together like a perfect puzzle that these 12 songs for my 12th album – I feel we achieved that.' Her main goals, she said, were 'melodies that were so infectious that you're almost angry at it' and lyrics that were 'just as vivid but crisp and focused and completely intentional.' Swift is known for dropping hints and clues for her fans before album announcements and her 12th album was no different. On Monday night on Instagram, Taylor Nation – a branch of Swift's official marketing team – shared a carousel of 12 images from the Eras Tour, writing in the caption: 'Thinking about when she said 'See you next era … '' Soon after, a countdown to 12.12am eastern time on 12 August appeared on her website, which was transformed to a glittering orange. At 12.12am Swift's website briefly crashed, before reappearing with scant details about The Life of a Showgirl. The 35-year-old is among the world's bestselling musicians, selling an estimated 200m records globally, and she holds the record for most No 1 albums in the US by a female artist in history. Her last album, 2024's The Tortured Poets Department, set a streaming record on Spotify – 300m in one day and 1bn in five – and made her the first artist in history to secure the top 14 spots on the Billboard Hot 100.

Tourists abandon Greece's most popular islands sparking panic

The number of visitors to the country's most iconic islands has noticeably dropped in 2025. New data has revealed that two of Greece's most iconic tourist destinations, the Cyclades islands of Santorini and Mykonos, are suffering from huge drops in international tourists this year. Popular island Santorini has reportedly seen a massive decline in visitors, and Mykonos showed a decline at the start of the year. ‌ Santorini is well known for its stunning blue-domed whitewashed buildings, making it the perfect backdrop for beautiful sunset photographs. ‌ Earlier this year, the island experienced a prolonged period of seismic activity. The alarming incidents sparked uncertainty among potential visitors, especially tourists from the US, Canada, and Australia. ‌ Recent reports by the Greek Tourism Confederation and the Institute of the Hellenic Tourism Business Association (INSETE), the number of international visitors flying into Santorini has fallen by as much as 19% compared to last year, reports the Express. Overall, the year-end decline in arrivals to the island is projected to range between 10% and 15%. Ferry bookings, another major source of visitors, have not fared much better, with the volcanic island experiencing a 7% drop in reservations. Ferryhopper data, which looks at booking trends, highlighted a decline in bookings from the US, Australia and Canada, declining by 5%, 6% and 2% respectively. Data from the Panhellenic Federation of Hoteliers and short-term rental platforms, including Airbnb, have also highlighted reduced demand in Santorini, with up to a 20% reduction in bookings during certain periods compared to 2024, according to In contrast, Mykonos shows signs of a gradual recovery. While it experienced an 8% fall in air arrivals at the start of the year, the island recorded a slight 2% increase in June. Ferry bookings, meanwhile, have remained stable, propped up by steady domestic demand amid mixed results from international markets. ‌ According to Ferryhopper, Mykonos maintained similar US booking levels but suffered from declines from Australia (-10%) and Canada (-22%). While international demand has not been nearly as high as in recent years, the domestic Greek market demonstrated renewed interest in both islands. Travel agencies have reported higher booking volumes for Greek tourists for Santorini and even stronger demand for Mykonos. However, this rise has not been enough to fill the gap left by foreign arrivals. ‌ This data supports previous reports that Santorini is struggling to sustain its local economy, with hotels and restaurants reporting a drastic drop in business despite busy streets during the day. Local tour operator Gianluca Chimenti, who has lived on the island for nearly two decades, has raised the alarm over what he calls the 'worst season ever'. Chimenti described a striking contrast between bustling daylight hours and eerily quiet evenings. Mr Chimenti blamed social media for showing "something completely different from reality," adding, "The truth is that the island is empty. Right now is like never before.' Last year, tourists poured onto the island via planes and ferries, with as many as 17,000 cruise ship passengers arriving in one day.
