Fatal chain collision on NSE southbound: Lorry duo killed after rear-ending timber trailer in Johor
Batu Pahat district police chief, ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said those who died in the accident at 8.30am were driver R Pubalan, 45, and his assistant, R Sivasanthiran, 35.
According to him, initial investigations found that the incident occurred when the lorry carrying electronic goods, crashed into the back of a timber trailer.
'As a result of the collision, the timber lorry went on to crash into an oil tanker.
'The two victims, who suffered serious head, chest and leg injuries, were confirmed dead at the scene while the driver of the timber lorry who sustained minor leg and chest injuries was taken to the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI), Batu Pahat. However, the driver of the oil tanker was not injured,' he said in a statement.
Shahrulanuar said the case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and members of the public who witnessed the incident could come forward to any nearby police station. — Bernama

Utusan Malaysia also reported that no new leads have emerged so far regarding the missing person or the yacht, but search and rescue (SAR) operations are ongoing. The current search area spans 7.89 square nautical miles, and efforts are expected to continue over the next few days depending on weather and sea conditions. The incident, which took place about 30 nautical miles off Pulau Yu, involved three Turkish nationals who were sailing from Pulau Tioman to Pattani, Thailand, when their yacht sank due to rough weather.

Her lawyers, Hamid Ismail and Shahlan Jufri, said the memory surfaced only recently when she was questioned about the state of Zara Qairina's body during the Islamic funeral washing ritual, which took place at Hospital Queen Elizabeth I on July 17. 'Our client did not include this important information in her earlier police reports because she had completely forgotten about it,' the lawyers said in a statement. 'She only recalled the bruises when we questioned her yesterday afternoon about the condition of her daughter's body during the washing ritual. 'She forgot about this fact as she had been overcome with grief since July 16 following what happened to her daughter.' The legal team said the newly recalled detail warranted a fresh investigation into Zara Qairina's death — despite Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stating yesterday that police had completed their probe and would be handing the investigation papers to the Attorney General's Chambers next week. 'Zara Qairina's grave must be exhumed immediately and a post-mortem must be conducted to determine the exact cause of death and whether any criminal elements were involved,' they said. Zara Qairina was found unconscious at around 4am on July 16 after allegedly falling from the third floor of her hostel at a religious boarding school in Papar. Post-mortem finds baby's skull fractured, repeated abuse by foster mum linked to crying, says acting KL police chief
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 — Police have confirmed that a seven-month-old baby girl found dead at a home in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras, last Thursday died from multiple injuries across her body. Acting Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said a post-mortem revealed the infant had suffered a fractured skull. He said the injuries and death were the result of ongoing abuse over the past month. 'Investigations revealed that the injuries were caused after the baby cried incessantly, leading the foster mother to allegedly abuse her,' he told Utusan Malaysia. He added that the woman's husband works as a salesman, while she is a homemaker. 'Further investigations are ongoing to complete the case file,' he said. Earlier, the couple was arrested after the baby was found unconscious, with bluish skin and bruises on her body, in the living room of their home. A man lodged a police report at 9.34pm, claiming his adopted daughter had lost consciousness for unknown reasons. Following the report, police arrested the 38-year-old woman and her 50-year-old husband under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 (Act 611). The foster mother also tested positive for drugs. Initial investigations found that the baby had been under the woman's care since 18 June, after her biological mother returned to Indonesia.
