Allegheny County sheriff K9 Zeke retires after 7-year career
K9 Zeke retired Friday after seven years on the force.
He joined the sheriff's office in 2018 and officials say his bomb detection training kept him busy responding to threats at various facilities and participating in multiple gun searches.
On top of his hard work, Zeke was also loved by the community for the hundreds of outreach projects he was a part of.
'To know that Zeke and Deputy Perrier worked not only on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, but also throughout southwestern Pennsylvania is a testament to their skills as a team and a validation of the crucial role that K9′s play in this office and throughout law enforcement,' Sheriff Kraus said.

In an interview with KTLA, Rebecca previously said that the incident occurred outside Big 5 Sporting Goods on the night of August 14, where she went to buy a mouthguard for her older son's football practice. Haro said she brought Emmanuel with her and noticed he needed to be changed. "I was going to get the diaper and somebody said, 'Hola,' and I don't remember anything since," Rebecca, who had a black eye, said in tears, KTLA reports. "I woke up here on the floor," she said, adding that she did not see the child afterward. In a follow up post about the investigation on Saturday, deputies said they interviewed Emmanuel's mother and father and could not rule out foul play. "Investigators interviewed multiple individuals, including Emmanuel's parents Jake and Rebecca Haro. During those interviews, Rebecca was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue with the interview. At this point in the investigation, investigators are unable to rule out foul play in the disappearance of Emmanuel," the update said in part. Authorities did not issue a statewide AMBER Alert because no vehicle or suspect descriptions met the alert criteria, KTLA reported. Jake's history with law enforcement was also reported by The Orange County Register, noting that he had previously been convicted of felony willful child cruelty in June of 2023. Vincent Hughes, defense attorney representing Jake and Rebecca Haro, commented on the father's past, according to CBS News, saying, "There was a conviction for child cruelty, which Jake is not running from. He's not hiding from his record; it's publicly available information." CBS News also reports that a 2-year-old was removed from the parents' home after the mother's story stirred doubts among authorities. "Not one thing has been cited as an inconsistency," Hughes said, according to CBS News, adding that "law enforcement is being extremely tight-lipped about the situation." A 7-month-old baby in California is still missing after police said they found "inconsistencies" in his mother's claim that he was kidnapped. Rebecca Haro said her infant was kidnapped outside a retail store in Yucaipa, California, on Aug. 14 before 8 p.m. local time, according to a release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department (SBCSD). According to police, Haro said she was changing her son Emmanuel Haro's diaper outside her car when a man assaulted her and knocked her unconscious. When she regained consciousness, the infant was gone, she said. Investigators have not ruled out foul play. Here's what we know about the case. She said she went to the store to buy a mouthguard for her other child when she realized her infant's diaper needed to be changed. "I took him out of the car seat and laid him on the chair. I had his diapers right here, and someone said, 'Hola.' I couldn't even turn. I don't remember nothing," Rebecca Haro told the outlets. Mary Beus Hausen, Rebecca Haro's mother, told KCAL that the parents planned to help with search efforts but were called in for more questioning by police. "They're losing time you know," she said. Six people injured after car drifts into crowd at festival in East Liberty
Six people were injured after a car drifted into a crowd at a festival in East Liberty. Pittsburgh public safety officials say emergency crews were called to Broad Street and Center Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. There, witnesses told them a slow-moving vehicle with no driver had drifted into a crowd that was gathered for a neighborhood/community festival. The vehicle's owner stayed on scene and was highly cooperative with police, officials say. He told police he thought he had placed his vehicle in park before getting out. Six people were injured, including five women and one man. Five were taken to area hospitals, three in serious but stable condition and two in stable condition. The sixth victim was evaluated and did not want to be transported. Officials say the incident is believed to be purely accidental at this time. Channel 11 crews on scene saw first responders at the East Liberty Black Arts Soul Steppin' Boots on the Ground Wellness Festival Harambee Style and Parade.
