Broncos OG Quinn Meinerz declines Pro Bowl invite as the first alternate
Broncos right guard Quinn Meinerz earned first-team All-Pro honors. He was the first alternate for the Pro Bowl Games.
When the NFL reached out Monday after Meinerz replacing Chiefs offensive lineman Joe Thuney, Meinerz 'respectfully declined,' Mike Klis of 9News reports.
Browns offensive guard Joel Bitonio instead will replace the Super Bowl-bound Thuney on the AFC roster later this week in Orlando.
Meinerz had incentives in his contract for first-team All-Pro, so he will receive $1.5 million in escalators — an added $500,000 on his payouts for 2026, 2027 and 2029 seasons. So he will now make $15.866 million in 2026 and $18.5 million in both 2027 and 2028.
The Broncos have three Pro Bowlers in cornerback Pat Surtain II, returner Marvin Mims Jr. and outside linebacker Nik Bonitto.

The Steelers have added quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The move hasn't added much to their betting odds for 2025. At DraftKings, the Steelers have dropped from a +4500 underdog to win the Super Bowl to +4000. Even with Rodgers, the Steelers remain decidedly below elite teams like the Bills (+700), the Ravens (+700), the Chiefs (+750), and the Bengals (+2000). Even the Chargers and Broncos — both at +2500 — are viewed as significantly better bets than the Steelers to win it all. One sports book executive summarized the situation in blunt terms. 'Rodgers has been awful,' Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook V.P. of risk Ed Salmons told Fawkes. 'Before he ruptured his Achilles, his last year in Green Bay he wasn't good. Since the [Achilles] injury, he can't move — he just dumps it off so he doesn't get hit. [Mason] Rudolph and Rodgers are the same thing for me.' Most would say the two aren't the same. The question is whether, with Rodgers, the Steelers become anything more than a team that gets to the postseason and might or might not win a playoff game for the first time in nine years.

Josh Beehre has scored a converted try after the hooter as the Blues kept their Super Rugby Pacific title defence alive with a 20-19 victory over the ladder-topping Chiefs in Hamilton to scrape into the playoff semi-finals. The Chiefs still advance to the last four under the "lucky losers" rule, but it was do-or-die on Saturday for the sixth-placed Blues who produced a suitably desperate performance. "There's been a whole lot of ups and downs through our season, and... although there's another week for us, we've got to enjoy that kind of moment," said Blues skipper Patrick Tuipulotu. "I'm glad we were able to sort of grind it out in that last 10 minutes." The match at Waikato Stadium was dominated by a titanic forward battle complemented by a dazzling duel between All Blacks playmakers McKenzie and Barrett. Three penalties from McKenzie to one from Barrett gave the Chiefs a 9-3 lead at halftime after both sides bombed what looked like certain tries. That earned the hooker 10 minutes in the sin bin and McKenzie added his third three-pointer from the resultant penalty but Barrett was not done with his contribution to the first half. The twice World Player of the year chipped the ball over the home defensive line at midfield, got to it first and volleyed it past the last defenders but was unable to get his hands on it under the posts. Barrett cut the deficit with his second penalty soon after the break but McKenzie responded in kind three minutes later and the Chiefs were 19-6 ahead just before the hour mark. The home side laid siege to the Blues try line and a superbly judged pass from McKenzie sent Rona through a gap in the defensive line for the first try of the game. Blues number eight Hoskins Sotutu was denied what would have been a winning try when he was called back for crawling and it was left to Beehre to secure the victory. "I thought we had that game in the bag," said Chiefs lock Tupou Vaa'i. "I guess footy's a strange game sometimes and you can start on a high and then it can humble you real quick. "I guess we've still got a life now, and our season's not over yet."

HAMILTON, New Zealand (AP) — The Blues have kept their defense of the Super Rugby title alive, beating the top-seeded Chiefs 20-19 Saturday with a try three minutes after the fulltime siren to advance to next week's semifinals. Replacement lock Josh Beehre dived over after the Blues had trailed 19-13 and had relentlessly battered the Chiefs' goalline through the last moments of the match.
