Nawazuddin Siddiqui Says Untrained Actors Are 'Made To Act ' In Bollywood: 'Happens Only Here'
Nawazuddin Siddiqui says that his true friends are from his struggling days, not the film industry.
Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is not one to mince words, and in his latest conversation with SCREEN for its Creators X Creators segment, the critically acclaimed performer opened up about the undercurrents of the Hindi film industry — from superficial friendships to the sidelining of truly talented actors.
As he turned 50, Nawazuddin reflected on his long journey in cinema, revealing that his real friends are not from the industry, but from the days when he was still struggling to find a foothold in films. 'With time, it's one person today and there will be someone else tomorrow. It's on the basis of need or benefits. The friendships that I also have in life are from old times, not from here," he added.
Revealing that there are no genuine relationships in the industry, the actor said, 'That happens because there is an insecurity in every actor here, hence there's no strong friendship or loyalty towards each other. The industry is not strong and united in that way. There is a club that stays separate, they aren't together."
Nawazuddin, known for his powerful performances, also spoke about how untrained and inexperienced actors are often given lead roles in Bollywood. He feels this hurts the quality of acting in films. 'An actor who isn't that reliable… they are made to act somehow, this happens only in our industry. Other industries only need professional and trained actors, they don't allow them to come in otherwise," he said.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui was recently seen in Costao, a crime drama based on the real-life story of Costao Fernandes, a Goa customs officer from the 1990s who gave up everything to stop a major gold smuggling racket. Up next, Nawazuddin is reportedly busy shooting for the sequel to Raat Akeli Hai in Lucknow. He will return as Inspector Jatil Yadav in this much-awaited follow-up to the hit thriller.

'Mistake': Sadhvi Ritambhara Apologises For 'Earning Money Being Nude' Remark
After sparking outrage with her remark that she feels ashamed to see Hindu women earn money by being nude and performing dirty dances, spiritual leader Sadhvi Ritambhara has said she apologises if anyone has been hurt by her remarks, but she felt she had a right to say what she did because she was surrounded by her loved ones. The Padma Bhushan awardee's discourse at a gathering three months ago has now gone viral in which she says in Hindi, "Hindu women, oh God. I feel ashamed to see them. Will you earn money? Will you earn money by being naked? By doing dirty dances, singing dirty songs? I don't understand how their husbands, their fathers accept this?" "People should lead a life of decency... Women of India, don't mind my saying this..." she adds. Speaking exclusively to NDTV on Friday, the spiritual leader said she believes women play a key role in families and the nation and she was not targeting women, but keeping hope in their strength. "But being unrestrained cannot be called independence. Being undisciplined is not disciplined. This is my nature... When my pain reaches a point, I share it with my loved ones. This is an old video, which has gone viral. I was trying to say that a nation becomes great because of its citizens' behaviour," she said. Classical dance, she said, is very good but what does not look good is what is shown in the "so-called reels". "Indecent behaviour does not look good. And if a woman does it or five, 10, 100 do it, all women are tarnished," she said. "What I said was not for all Hindu women. I must have forgotten to say something in the flow of speech. I am an ordinary human, I made a mistake," the spiritual leader added. When young children watch such reels, she said, it poisons their mind and does not let them focus on making their lives better and striving for a good career. "Yes I should not have said the word. ‘Pushkara' wins nat'l award for best Odia film
Bhubaneswar: 'Pushkara' received the 'Best Odia Film' award for 2023 at the 71st National Film Awards, which were announced on Friday. The film, starring Sabyasachi Mishra and Supriya Nayak and directed by Subhransu Das, is based on writer Sankar Tripathy's Odia novel 'Nadabindu' (2004). "It is a matter of pride for the team of Pushkara. When everybody was questioning the existence of Odia films, we tried very hard to serve an authentic Odia film and attract cine lovers to theatres with an honest attempt. We also found commercial success. Now our film has received a national award. We are very happy," said Sabyasachi. Another Odia film, 'Mo Bou, Mo Gaan', directed by Subash Sahoo, received an award in the category of 'Best Biographical/Historical Reconstruction/Compilation Film'. It shared the award with an English language film. Cinematographer Prasantanu Mohapatra from Odisha won the 'Best Cinematography' award for the Hindi film, 'The Kerala Story'.
