Martha Stewart stars in sexy Aussie ad with mystery man as she embraces sex symbol status at 83
The lifestyle mogul and businesswoman, who in the last 40 years has built a global empire and changed the face of homemaking, is still very much in her prime.
Widely regarded as the original influencer, Stewart is much revered for her TV shows, lifestyle books, magazines and product lines that helped make her the first self-made female billionaire in US history.
However, the 83-year-old has undergone an evolution of sorts in recent years – and she has welcomed this new direction in her career.
'I don't call it a reinvention, I call it an evolution,' she tells news.com.au via Zoom. 'If you're evolving, you're changing. Reinvention means eliminating the past and making something new. But this is very different. This is evolving.'
'I'm the same person. I do pretty much the same things,' she adds. 'I just take everything to a new and different level. I think that that's really evolution, and I like it. I do not like to remain static. I never will. And change is good. It's good for everybody.'
Stewart is even embracing her new sex symbol status, which she acquired thanks to that poolside selfie that almost broke the internet in 2020.
She mastered the art of 'thirst traps' in the years that followed and, in 2023, she officially solidified her bombshell status by becoming the oldest model to grace the cover of theSports IllustratedSwimsuit Issue.
'I love being admired by men. Why not?' she says when asked about being a sex symbol.
Stewart explains that while it's 'great' getting attention from the opposite sex, she makes sure her sexy photos are 'authentic' and aren't damaging to her brand.
'To me, it's all a lighthearted effort at making sure that first of all, your brand is safe, your brand is well admired, people will continue to buy your products and do it without any danger to anybody,' she says. 'That's really an important thing to me.'
In line with her evolution, Stewart is not afraid to step out of the box.
In an unexpected move, the lifestyle guru is now the ambassador for Rexona's new Whole Body Deodorant, appearing in a sexy Aussie TV commercial which she secretly filmed at the landmark Crypto Castle in Sydney back in May.
A clip of the ad was shared online earlier this week, which featured Stewart in a silk robe with a barely-clad mystery man. But today it was revealed that her Sydney 'tryst' was in fact an ad for Rexona's new Whole Body Deodorant.
'I loved making the Rexona commercial at the Crypto Castle. We worked with a great crew who were very funny and had a sense of humour,' she recalls.
'The whole commercial has a really lighthearted sense of humour about it because we're talking about body odour, which is not the sexiest subject matter.'
In the ad, Stewart uses her signature dry wit to demonstrate how to apply the deodorant to your thighs, breasts and feet, among other places.
'I know what you're wondering, Australia. And the answer is yes, you can use it 'down under,'' she muses in the Unilever ad.
'The whole idea of something like this, you have to do this with kind of a cheekiness and a forthrightness because we're talking about an all over the body deodorant,' she explains to us.
And the mogul is speaking from experience. In 1956, aged just 15, Stewart worked as a model and filmed her very first TV commercial for Lifebuoy, which coincidentally was an all-over-the-body deodorant soap also made by Unilever.
'I laughed when was offered this spot for Rexona because it's a similar kind of product, although that was a soap and this is a spray or a cream,' she reflects.
'So I just thought, how funny – full circle. And I thought, 'Oh, that'll be fun.''
Stewart was last in Australia in May for the Vivid festival, when she filmed the Rexona commercial. But she has plans to return to our shores in the near future.
'I've been to Australia quite a few times – I've been to Tasmania, Sydney, Melbourne, to other places in and around that, mostly the East Coast,' she says. 'I do want to go to the West Coast, and I haven't had a chance to do that yet. But what I've discovered is the food and the vegetation and the fabulous produce that you produce in Australia, second to no place in the world.'
Among the many hats Stewart wears – model, mogul, influencer – there's one that she's taken a liking to: 'Tradwife', aka a woman who embraces traditional values and gender roles.
'I've pioneered in a lot of different industries and a lot of different product developments, and I am always willing to step out and do things,' she says. 'I'm now also being known as the original Tradwife.'
'I'm very proud of myself for being a Tradwife, because why not? I mean, I raised my own sheep and my own chickens, made my own hams from my backyard pig, and grew my own vegetables – that's all Tradwife stuff.
'When they affix a name like 'Tradwife', it sounds kind of awful. But it's actually kind of cute. And the Tradwives that are very popular now are the hottest things on earth.'
And Stewart has this word of advice for all the Meghan Markles and Gwyneth Paltrows out there trying to emulate her success in the lifestyle space.
'If they can teach as much as I have taught and be as authentic as I have been, then they will be successful,' she says.

‘Highest of highs': Brad Pitt's $6m flex
Brad Pitt isn't just portraying a Formula 1 driver in films — he's also a true car enthusiast in real life. The Hollywood star's collection features a roaring V12 Lamborghini, sleek electric Porsches, luxurious 4x4s and one of the world's rarest cars. His car collection itself is estimated to be worth approximately $6.3 million. Here's a look inside his extraordinary car collection. Lamborghini Aventador One of the most impressive vehicles in his collection is the Lamborghini Aventador, a V12-powered machine capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately three seconds. It's unclear which specific version he owns, but with any Aventador, the screaming V-12 engine can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around 3 seconds. Aston Martin Vanquish Carbon Edition Another head-turner in his collection is the Aston Martin Vanquish Carbon Edition, a 2015 model gifted to him by his ex-wife Angelina Jolie. MORE: The big problem with F1: The Movie Audi R8 Spyder There's also an Audi R8 Spyder, and it's pretty easy to see why Brad Pitt owns it. Packing over 600 horsepower and capable of speeds beyond 320 km/h, it's a fitting match for someone chasing the F1 thrill even off-set. Bentley Continental GT For a touch of British luxury, Pitt has a Bentley Continental GT. While he's rarely seen in it, the car is believed to be reserved for special events and award nights. MORE: 'Turn it off': The tech Aussies hate most Porsche Taycan Brad Pitt has been seen cruising around Hollywood in his 2023 Porsche Taycan. Depending on the model, the Taycan can have a dual-motor all-wheel drive that's capable of producing up to 751hp and can accelerate from 0 to 100 in 2.4 seconds. While it's unclear which Taycan Pitt owns, photos of him driving it around Los Angeles suggest it could be his new daily vehicle. Two Tesla Model S There's some bad history with one of his two Tesla Model S. In 2018, one of his two Teslas was involved in a three-car crash in Los Angeles. The Tesla Model S produces 670HP and has a top speed of around 320 km/h. It can also accelerate from 0 to 100 in just over three seconds. Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG Pitt is often seen driving his 2008 Mercedes G-Wagon. It's a black Mercedes-Benz G 55 AMG SUV that's fitted with a 5.5-litre supercharged V8 engine that can do 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. Audi Q7 Brad Pitt has chosen the Audi Q7 as his go-to vehicle for picking up his kids and everyday tasks. It's a popular choice among many celebrities and can do 0-100 in 7.7 seconds with its 280hp engine. BMW Hydrogen 7 This could be Pitt's rarest car in his collection. The BMW Hydrogen 7 has a unique engine, allowing drivers to switch between hydrogen gas and petrol. These were built between 2005 and 2007 as part of BMW's exploration of hydrogen-powered vehicles, and only 100 were ever produced. The car has been described as a 'green flex' given it's astronomical price tag. It's said to be worth around $2m. He was last seen driving this car while attending the premiere of Ocean's 13. 'HIGHEST OF HIGHS' A month on from the release of his F1 film, Brad Pitt has opened up about his behind-the-scenes racing experience, sharing which legendary Formula One circuit left him 'breathless'. While reviews of the movie have been mixed, it's clear that Pitt received a front-row seat to one of the world's most prestigious motorsport events. While filming the F1 movie, he drove on various race tracks that comprise the Formula 1 calendar. And now Brad Pitt has opened up and shared his experience on which Formula 1 track left him feeling the 'highest of highs'. During a recent podcast interview with Tom Clarkson on Beyond The Grid, Pitt opened up about his new-found appreciation for the world's most iconic circuits like Silverstone and Abu Dhabi. However, there was one track that made him feel completely different from the rest. And that crown belongs to Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps, commonly referred to as Spa. 'But the high of highs? Spa. Oh my god! 4.3 miles, 100-metre elevation … It's such a smooth, graceful feeling,' Brad Pitt said. 'And then of course, Eau Rouge, we went to the bottom of Eau Rouge, turned behind, looked up the hill and waited. 'Fernando Alonso went by, and it literally sucks the air out of your lungs. It is unbelievable. It is unbelievable. 'That was that same weekend we were driving, I'd been out, but I wasn't doing what Fernando was doing!' US goes nuts over Musk's latest move
Tesla has officially opened it's highly anticipated diner in Los Angeles, which combines retro nostalgia with futurism and a version could be coming to Australia soon. Telsa CEO Elon Musk initially announced his plan to create a nostalgic drive-in restaurant, complete with roller skating and rock music, at Tesla supercharger locations in LA in 2018. Tesla Diner opens in LA. Picture: Tesla MORE: Huge blow to Australia's EV dream Following his announcement, Tesla promptly filed a permit for the project. However the process has taken much longer than expected. Although Musk promised in 2023 that the diner would be open later that year, the restaurant chef – California food icon Eric Greenspan – wasn't revealed until earlier this year. The cool diner finally opened in LA on Monday (local time) to rave reviews. From videos published on YouTube and pictures on Musk's own X account, the stunningly aesthetic diner appears to be halfway between a flying saucer and a 1950s diner. This design aligns perfectly with Elon Musk's vision for the project when he first announced it seven years ago. According to Tesla's support page, the 24/7 Diner 'offers visitors a classic American diner experience with a retro-futuristic twist.' The Tesla Diner offers a convenient spot to grab comfort food, including burgers and fries (served in boxes shaped like Cybertrucks), as well as milkshakes, while charging a Tesla vehicle at one of 80 V4 supercharger stalls. Chip me! Picture: Tesla Nostalgic futurism. Picture: Tesla Videos and photos posted on X by people who attended the soft launch over the weekend showed servers on rollerskates and the famous humanoid robot dubbed Optimus scooping popcorn. The official video on YouTube pays homage to both America's nostalgic past and it's 'optimistic future' in featuring an actor playing Olivia Newton-John's Sandy from Grease and a scene from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. MORE: Tesla's reign challenged by new Chinese rival The site has 80 EV chargers. Picture: Tesla In addition to being a restaurant, the diner also features a giant screen, allowing Tesla enthusiasts and customers to watch movie clips while charging their cars. However, it's also possible to watch clips from a Tesla's screen while it's charging. The diner features 80 V4 Supercharger stalls available for all NACS-compatible EVs, making it the largest urban Supercharger in the world, according to Tesla. If the diner succeeds, there could be plans for similar buildings to pop up globally, as Elon states on his social media platform. 'If our retro-futuristic diner turns out well, which I think it will, Tesla will establish these in major cities around the world,' Musk wrote on X.
