Aaron Rodgers seems to be bonding well with his new Pittsburgh Steelers teammates after they began training camp for the 2025 campaign.
One of his teammates, DK Metcalf, recently shared that the veteran quarterback has a strange rule regarding the use of the college-like dormitory toilets they both share.
Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers has hinted that his run with the Pittsburgh Steelers might be his last before he finally retires from football.
Aaron Rodgers Has A No-Flush Rule At Training Camp
Pittsburgh Steelers' new quarterback Aaron Rodgers and star wide receiver DK Metcalf are already getting their off-field partnership off to the right start.
The pair, alongside their other teammates, will be living in a college-style dormitory at Latrobe's Saint Vincent College over the next month, and players are required to share bathrooms with one another.
Rodgers and Metcalf are partners sharing one toilet, and the 27-year-old revealed that Rodgers has already laid down some principles of engagement when it comes to their toilet needs.
"The toilet is super loud. So he was like, 'Yeah, at night, if we got to p-ss, just don't flush the toilet.' I was like, 'All right, bet,'" Metcalf said about his veteran teammate, per the Daily Mail.
Metcalf then shared how he found himself in need of a restroom visit around 9:30 PM on a recent evening.
He recalled that before he committed to the noisy act of flushing the toilet, he sent a precautionary text to the four-time MVP: "You asleep yet?"
Rodgers, it turned out, was still awake. With the green light from his QB, Metcalf had to give a heads-up: "I'm about to flush the toilet," he replied.
The Quarterback's Opening Practice Got Off To A Rough Start
Meanwhile, Rodgers' performance on the pitch would definitely need to get better if he's going to bring his career to a close with a bang.
During his opening practice with Mike Tomlin's men, the 41-year-old's first pass to Metcalf resulted in an interception.
"It's good to get that out the way," he jokingly said about the interception.
Rodgers signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers on the back of his New York Jets release.
The deal is reportedly worth a whopping $13.65 million, although it remains unclear if a renewal is in the books.
Aaron Rodgers Is 'Pretty Sure' He'll Retire After This Season
Rodgers is seemingly preparing to call it quits on his illustrious career at the end of this season.
Back in June, he appeared on "The Pat McAfee Show," where he admitted that this may be his last stint, as he looks to draw a curtain on his decade-long career with a final year in Pittsburgh.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is it," Rodgers told McAfee, per ESPN.
He continued, "That's why we just did a one-year deal. Steelers didn't need to put any extra years on that or anything, so this was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I've had."
The Quarterback Is Excited To End His Football Career With The Steelers
During his chat with McAfee, Rodgers further noted how much fun he has had in his decades-long football career, while praising the Pittsburgh Steelers as the perfect team to help bring things to a close.
"I played 20 fricking years. It's been a long run," Rodgers said. "I've enjoyed it, and no better place to finish than in one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL with Mike Tomlin and a great group of leadership and great guys in the city that expects you to win," he added.
Over the course of his 21 seasons as an NFL star, Rodgers played for the Green Bay Packers for 18 seasons, from 2005 to 2022.
He was then traded to the New York Jets in 2023, where he played for two seasons (2023-2024).
Steelers GM Expresses Interest In Keeping Rodgers For More Than One Season
It remains to be seen if this will be Rodgers' last season, as the Steelers' General Manager, Omar Khan, said Friday on "The Rich Eisen Show" that he'd be open to Rodgers staying in Pittsburgh for more than just one season.
"Do you envision any scenario in which this could be a longer stay in Pittsburgh, if [Rodgers is] so inclined?" Eisen asked, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Khan replied: "Obviously, we have to see how the season goes, but absolutely. He's a young 41, and we're obviously taking it year-by-year, and that's where we're at.
He added, "But we're obviously not closing the door on anything."
