Virat Kohli embraced AB de Villiers after Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally won the Indian Premier League title.
Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) triumphed over 18 years of setbacks and disappointment on Tuesday night, defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs to secure their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title.
What made the victory even more special was the fact that AB de Villiers was at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to watch the final. The South African legend was at the boundary lines during the last few overs.
When the celebrations began after RCB finally won the final, Kohli went searching for de Villiers. As the pair met, the two RCB legends embraced.
'Well done," de Villiers was heard telling Kohli in his ear as they hugged, the brothers in arms soaking in the momentous occasion.

Kohli also paid tribute to his close friend, ABD.
'What ABD has done for the franchise is tremendous. I told him, 'This win is as much yours as it is ours. I want you to celebrate with us.' He's been the 'Player of the Match' most times in the franchise despite being retired for four years.
'This shows the impact he's had on the league, the team, and me. He deserves to be on the podium, lifting the Cup."
The final was a tense affair, but RCB channelled their years of frustration into a powerful comeback and a convincing victory. A partisan crowd remained loyal even as RCB struggled with their batting, posting a total of 190/9, with Kohli contributing a hard-fought 43 off 35 balls.
At the interval, RCB's total appeared insufficient, but their bowlers' persistent efforts ensured the scoreboard pressure worked to their advantage. Requiring 29 runs from the final over, RCB's victory was sealed when Josh Hazlewood bowled two consecutive dot balls. Shashank Singh's valiant 61 not out from 30 balls (three fours, six sixes) proved too little, too late, as Punjab Kings finished at 184/7.

Bengaluru stampede: Open invitation without preparation is criminal negligence, says MP Tejasvi Surya

Bengaluru: Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya criticized the decision to hold an open invitation event at Chinnaswamy Stadium without logistical preparation as "criminal negligence" that culminated in the loss of 11 innocent lives. Drawing a comparison with the 2011 World Cup victory celebrations in Mumbai, Surya said despite the participation of over 15 lakh people there, no such tragedy occurred. That was because of better crowd management and planning in Mumbai, he pointed out. Surya lashed out at what he described as an "egotistical and irresponsible" attempt by the state's top leadership, including CM Siddaramiah and DCM DK Shivakumar, to get involved in RCB celebrations and "bask in undeserved glory". He alleged that despite being fully aware of the massive crowd that would gather for the event, the govt failed to make adequate safety arrangements. "It is not cricketers or fans who are to blame. The state govt, particularly the CM and DCM, orchestrated a scenario that led to this tragic stampede," Surya said. He urged the RCB franchise to show solidarity with its fanbase. "Even though there is no legal obligation, morally and humanely, the franchise should come forward to support and compensate the victims' families," Surya said.

Bengaluru stampede: How further disaster was thwarted on top tiers of Chinnaswamy Stadium

1 2 Bengaluru: While pain, anguish and trauma unfolded outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium Wednesday, a potential disaster was averted by the skin of the teeth inside the stadium — thanks to the swift response of alert private security personnel and police officers. By 5pm on that fateful day, as it became clear certain stands, particularly Stand 13, were overcrowded, D Bhaskar, the managing director of Supreme Care Services, a private security agency deployed by event partner DNA, could sense trouble. "Stand 13 looked dangerous. People were jumping from the upper tier to the lower level to get a better view," Bhaskar recalled. "Some even used pillars and fences to climb down. It was a crowd unlike what we usually see during IPL matches — much more aggressive and unruly." Bhaskar, drawing on his army training and two years' experience of handling RCB match security, read the situation fast enough to realise it was spiralling out of control. "Several stands were operating at over 120% capacity. Those spectators who stood up were blocking the views of those behind, which led to pushing and jostling," he said. "I feared people could fall off the upper stands straight to the ground." Bhaskar immediately approached a senior police officer at the venue. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Obtén audífonos premium sin pagar absolutamente nada Top Audifonos Undo "I must thank him — he acted without any delay. Five police officers from the VIP area were immediately told to control the situation on the upper stands. They moved to the upper tiers and cleared out those threatening to act dangerously," Bhaskar said. "We told the crowd that they were under surveillance and strict action would be taken against any unruly conduct, which instilled some fear and helped calm the situation."
