Jets Ex Davante Adams Reveals Major 'Dark Cloud' Problem
Jets Ex Davante Adams Reveals Major 'Dark Cloud' Problem originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
It's a funny thing about the so-called "dark cloud'' that hovers over some organizations, the New York Jets included.

It's so often supposedly never the fault of the people who are paid to bring the sunshine.
New coach Aaron Glenn and new GM Darren Mougey went through the roster this offseason and picked it apart. If a guy didn't belong, he was nudged.
If a guy didn't want to be here and didn't belong here, he was shoved.
Yes, we're talking about you, Aaron Rodgers, the self-appointed "Enigma'' and fresh hero to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
And yes, this fits Davante Adams, too, a mid-season acquisition to came to New York as a superstar and pal of Rodgers ... and no, it did not work out.
At all.
Individually, Davante's numbers were OK for Jets. In 11 games after being traded for from the Raiders in exchange for a third-round pick, he had 67 catches for 854 yards and seven touchdowns.

But his Jets - yes, his Jets - went 5-12. And the team ended up cutting him.
Adams is now with the Los Angeles Rams and saying all the things that high-profile guys say when they land in a new setting.
"I feel like this is what I needed just based off the vibe and the aura of the building," Adams said. "And everybody's in a good mood. It's not like a dark cloud over the building. And I've experienced that quite a bit over the last few years. So, it's a glaring difference when you come into a building like this."
Oh.
We're not arguing about the "dark cloud'' and its existence in New York.
What we are doing is wondering how Adams (and Rodgers, too) fail to realize that they were charged with the responsibility clearing the cloud and bringing the sunshine. ... and because they didn't do that, they weren't "under a dark cloud.''
They were themselves part of the dark cloud.

Fever's Sophie Cunningham receives praise for having Caitlin Clark's back in wild game vs Sun
Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham received praise on social media Tuesday night as she appeared to defend Caitlin Clark with a hard foul on Connecticut Sun guard Jacy Sheldon. Cunningham and Sheldon's heated exchange turned into a shoving match before players from both teams came over to break it up. Cunningham, Sheldon and Sun guard Lindsay Allen were ejected from the game with about 40 seconds left before the Fever took home the victory. The hard foul came after Sheldon poked Clark in the eye in the third quarter. Sun guard Marina Mabrey then shoved Clark to the ground in what was a chippy affair. As the Fever put away the Sun 88-71, Cunningham was congratulated for stepping up as the team's enforcer. Fever head coach Stephanie White was upset with how the referees officiated the game and about the inability to take control. "I think it was pretty obvious that stuff was brewing," White said, via Indy Star. "When officials don't get control of the ball game, when they allow that stuff to happen … it's been happening all season long, all season long. It's not just this game. "This is what happens. You've got competitive women who are the best in the world at what they do and when you allow them to play physical, and you allow these things to happen, they're gonna compete, and they're gonna have their teammates' backs. It's exactly what you would expect out of fierce competition. "I started talking to officials in the first quarter, and we knew this was gonna happen. You knew this was gonna happen. They gotta get control of it. They gotta be better. They gotta be better." Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Recently retired Pro Bowl LT is so glad he never has to block Jared Verse again
Recently retired Pro Bowl LT is so glad he never has to block Jared Verse again Terron Armstead guarantees Verse will win Defensive Player of the Year someday: 'Mark my words' Recently retired @T_Armstead72 listed the current pass rushers in the game that made his decision to retire a lot easier 📻 | @RobertJTurbin — SiriusXM NFL Radio (@SiriusXMNFL) June 17, 2025 Jared Verse is the type of pass rusher who gives opposing linemen nightmares. Just ask Terron Armstead, a five-time Pro Bowl left tackle who recently retired from the NFL after 12 seasons. Armstead only faced Verse once in his career, a Week 10 bout between the Rams and Dolphins last season, but he's glad he never has to block the Defensive Rookie of the Year again. It's one of the highest compliments an offensive lineman can pay a defender, and it's clear Verse left a lasting impression on Armstead in their one battle. In a recent interview on The SiriusXM Blitz, Armstead mentioned Verse first when asked which pass rusher made his decision to retire easier. 'No. 1, he was a rookie from the Rams. That young boy Jared Verse? I'm cool. I'm good. I never got to see that man again. I'm OK with never seeing that young man again in my life,' Armstead said. Verse is only 24 but he's already one of the most powerful edge rushers in the game. Armstead got a firsthand look at Verse's bull rush last season and he says it's unlike others he faced in his career. Even after going up against Verse just once, Armstead guarantees Jared will win Defensive Player of the Year someday. 'Bull rush is different. Dog, it's different,' Armstead said. 'You know that it's coming, you brace yourself. He's different. Jared Verse is different. He will be a Defensive Player of the Year one of these days. Mark my words.' In the Rams' loss to the Dolphins last season, Verse had five pressures, a strip-sack and recovery, as well as three total stops, according to Pro Football Focus. His 89.7 overall grade was his highest in any game, so he sure did show out against Armstead and Miami's linemen. The strip-sack didn't come against Armstead but it was an impressive play, no less. The rookie Jared Verse gets the strip sack AND recovery for the @RamsNFL! 📺: #MIAvsLAR on ESPN/ABC 📱: Stream on #NFLPlus and ESPN+ — NFL (@NFL) November 12, 2024 In addition to Verse, the other pass rushers Armstead is glad he never has to see again are Myles Garrett, Trey Hendrickson and Maxx Crosby. That puts into perspective the class Verse is in as a defender already, ranking among the best edge rushers in football after just one season. It shouldn't be long before Verse turns his Defensive Rookie of the Year award into Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Bucky wins competitive wiener dog derby. His training was playing fetch.
When Adriana Smith brought her dachshund Bucky to the seventh annual Meadowlands Racetrack Wiener Dog Derby, she wasn't expecting much. Last year he didn't even finish the race. 'He got lost,' Smith said. 'He had no idea where he was going.' But, to Smith's shock, Bucky had laserlike focus this year. He didn't get lost. Egged on by the roaring crowd of thousands, Bucky's tiny legs carried him over the finish line ahead of the other sausage dogs. He had outrun 79 other wieners to clinch the championship.
