Daily Mirror17-07-2025
Celebrity Bake Off is reportedly eyeing up a new judge for the latest series
According to reports, Celebrity Bake Off is eyeing up its latest judge for the upcoming series, and fans will no doubt recognise the familiar BBC face straight away.

The Sun has reported that the new addition to the judging panel is believed to be, no other than Cherish Finden. The celebrated Executive Pastry Chef, who hails from Singapore, has been a frequent on Bake Off: The Professionals since 2016.

At 57 years old, Cherish has a wealth of expertise in the culinary industry, having worked at The Langham, one of London's most prestigious hotels, in the past.

Her television appearances extend beyond Bake Off: The Professionals. Cherish also previously appeared on Channel 4's Heston's Great British Food.
Moreover, she's absolutely no stranger to the BBC network, having appeared on shows like MasterChef, Australian MasterChef, BBC2's An Extra Slice, and Junior Bake Off, reports Birmingham Live.

The Daily Mirror has contacted Channel 4 for a statement.
Cherish embarked on her culinary journey at just 14, later attending cookery school when she was 16.
She honed her skills at some of Singapore's finest establishments, including the iconic Raffles Hotel and The Sheraton. Her illustrious career includes clinching the 2000 Culinary Olympics, cementing her status as one of the world's most esteemed bakers.

This report follows the recent news that Nadiya Hussain, a former Great British Bake Off champion, left the BBC last month.
Nadiya has since expressed that she felt out of place within the broadcaster's "very neat box" while airing her frustrations with the network.

On the We Need to Talk podcast with host Paul Brunson, the 2015 Bake Off winner opened up about the hurdles she'd faced while transitioning into the television industry post-Bake Off fame.
Nadiya expressed her thoughts on the matter, stating: "I suppose it means that they've got me exactly where they want me and utterly unbiased. And just they've got me where they want me. Neutral. And I am not neutral."
She continued with a candid revelation: "I have opinions and I have things to say. They'll keep you till you're of no use to them."
Reflecting on her experience, she further concluded: "And I think that's what happened. I think essentially I got lots of reasons why they couldn't commission the show."

Hollyoaks appears to have recast a fan favourite character, who is due to return to the beloved Channel 4 soap. ‌ After three years, character Faith Hudson is set to return, if social media clues are anything to go by. ‌ Faith, who is the daughter of Liberty Savage (Jessamy Stoddart), first appeared on screen in 2020. She was later played by two twins named Elsie and Lyla, and was last seen in 2022. ‌ However, it's now been reported that producers have chosen child star Lottie Tatton to take over the role. Faith has been absent from Hollyoaks in recent years, and was staying with her uncle Denis (Joe Tracini) in New Zealand. ‌ However, Denis has been killed off screen, so Faith will be returning to reunite with her mum. Lottie's new role has been revealed on the Facebook page for The Drama Mob, an acting school run by fellow soap star Tina O'Brien, who is best known as Sarah Platt in Coronation Street. The page announced: 'A huge well done to our fabulous Lottie who has just made her debut on Hollyoaks playing Faith Hudson! ‌ 'Lottie has been part of the Drama Mob family since she was born - her mum is one of our amazing teachers Jenna! 'We're so proud of her and know she's going to absolutely smash it! Well done Lottie!' ‌ Fans rushed to share their support, with one writing: 'Love this. Well done Lottie, you little star.' Earlier this year, Liberty dressed up as her dead mum (Jez's ex) to try and get him to fall for her, with her plan working, though Jez continued planning his wedding to John Paul McQueen (James Sutton). As if there weren't enough secrets, lies and deception so far, the Hollyoaks' summer trailer revealed Jez having been a serial killer for years and finally being caught - but will he get what he deserves?

The shock casting method show bosses use to select Love Island contestants has been revealed

The shock casting method used by Love Island bosses to select contestants for the show has been revealed. It's been reported that ITV execs have admitted to using artificial intelligence as part of the casting process for the reality TV show. After the cast of the 2025 series was revealed earlier this year, fans were quick to mock the newbies as 'clones' of the previous stars, with the likes of Megan Forte Clarke being compared to 2019 islander Maura Higgins. And now The Sun reports that automated technology has been used to whittle down the thousands of applicants for the show. Speaking as ITV announced its half-year results, ITV chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall shared: 'We will use AI in any way we can to make what we do more efficient. 'And a great example of that for me from (ITV) Studios is they're using a tool where it's a smart editing assistance and it's about speed and quality. And they used it for Love Island and casting this year.' She added that the team 'rated it eight out of ten'. Meanwhile, an ITV spokesperson confirmed to MailOnline that AI was not directly used to make casting decisions, but rather to edit hundreds of hours of footage into highlight reels for the team to watch. They shared: 'It simply assists with the editing of audition tapes during the casting period. 'We get thousands and thousands of applications every year and we hold face to face auditions. 'When we get to the stage of narrowing it down to hundreds of prospective Islanders and we want to share audition highlights on a reel with the ITV commissioning team, to support the casting decision, we use the software (Quickture along with an Adobe editing programme) to edit the hundreds of hours of footage into highlight reels.' They added that the process means the casting team can 'spend more time researching' and looking for more prospective Islanders. It comes as Love Island fans have hit out at show bosses during Thursday's episode after they were left unimpressed by how Shakira Khan was given the 'villain edit'. Prior to the episode airing, It was reported that the 22-year-old threatened to quit the ITV2 dating show over the situation with Harry. A source told The Sun: 'She went to the beach hut and asked to leave the villa. 'The duty of care team were able to help her through her emotions and she decided to stay.' In the latest episode of the ITV show, the infamous Grafties returned - where contestants are shown clips on a big screen that either revive past drama or highlight hilarious moments that most of the villa hadn't seen before. The nominees for the Best Double Act award were Dejon and Helena, Toni and Shakira, and Helena and Meg. During the clips, Toni and Shakira were seen talking negatively about Meg, following movie night. After watching the gossip on the big screen, Meg said she felt that Shakira and Toni were 'fake to her face,' prompting Toni to fire back: 'So are you. You act like you never say a bad thing about anyone.' Next came Helena and Meg's clip, which, in contrast, highlighted their blossoming friendship in the villa. Toni and Shakira went on to win the award, with Shakira saying: 'We said what we said, it was after Movie Night. 'I don't know why it's so surprising, we had a scrap that night.' It comes after Love Island fans have hit out at show bosses during Thursday's episode after they were left unimpressed by how Shakira Khan was given the 'villain edit' during the Grafties Fans are now calling out show bosses for giving Shakira the 'villain edit' during the game Fans are now calling out show bosses for giving Shakira the 'villain edit' during the game. They raged on X: 'If they hurt Shakira anymore I'm literally going to stay for the credits, note down each producers name and HUNT THEM DOWN,' 'The producers convincing Shakira to stay in the villa so she could get attacked at the grafties is just evil #LoveIsland,' 'The fact we've seen Shakira be so sad, open & vulnerable recently. And now the producers are gonna paint her out to be bad with the Grafties, and make her feel even worse :(( i don't wanna watch,' 'Look at the clip they used for Meg and Helena vs the one they used for Shakira and Toni, and tell me again with a straight face that there isn't a clear agenda,' 'Why are the producers giving Shakira and Toni this bad edit!'

Brooklyn Beckham's bold move in family feud after strict talking to

Former aspiring photographer Brooklyn Beckham paid tribute to his granddad Ted in a sweet post shared on social media Brooklyn Beckham seemingly extended an olive branch to his family with his birthday tribute to his grandfather, Ted. The aspiring chef took to his Instagram Stories to share a picture of himself and David Beckham's dad suited and booted at a lavish event as they posed for the camera. ‌ In the snap, Brooklyn had his arm on Ted's shoulder. He wrote in the caption: "Happy birthday granddad. xx I love you," along with two red heart emojis. Brooklyn snubbed most of his family member's recent birthdays but made sure to pay tribute to his little sister, Harper Seven, when she turned 14 this month. ‌ ‌ Harper is the baby of the family, doted on by her parents, as well as her older brothers - Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 22, and 20-year-old Cruz. Brooklyn marked his little sister's birthday by posting a photo of him and wife Nicola with Harper to his stories with the caption: "Happy Birthday Harper. We love you x." However, he wasn't there for the birthday celebrations. The former aspiring photographer snubbed his mother Victoria's 51st birthday and his father David's milestone 50th birthday celebrations earlier this year. ‌ He also failed to congratulate his footballer dad when he was named in the King's Birthday Honours List and became a Sir. Sources close to Brooklyn claimed he isn't ready to make up with the rest of his family. A source told The Sun: "There is too much water under the bridge." Explaining the reasoning behind Brooklyn sharing the picture of him with Harper, they added: "Brooklyn and Harper were always incredibly close. He adores her and so does his wife Nicola. They have an incredibly close bond and despite everything that has gone on, Brooklyn idolises her. ‌ "He wanted to put out a message on social media for her to show this bond still exists. He wanted this to be about Harper and he wanted to show people how much he and Nicola care about her. Just because they love Harper and want to show their affection, doesn't mean they're trying to make amends with the family." Brooklyn's post to his grandfather comes after his godfather, Elton John, reportedly helped ease the tensions within the family. The music legend, 78, recently hosted him and his wife Nicola for lunch in Cannes alongside his husband David Furnish. The gathering took place at the upscale La Guerite beach club, where the group reportedly addressed the strained family dynamics. ‌ 'Elton is the showbiz equivalent of Switzerland,' a source said in relation to Elton's peace-keeping attempts. 'He's utterly neutral in this row.' The insider explained to The Sun: "Elton of old may have relished in taking sides - in this case his young godson, Brooklyn, but two years off his 80th birthday, he's a man who has seen and done it all. He just wants everyone to be happy. "There is no side-taking as such, he simply adores his godson, and really has a laugh with Nicola who he thinks has a great sense of humour.' Elton's role as godfather is reportedly something he takes seriously. 'He wants to look after them in his role as 'spiritual adviser' as a godfather,' the source said. The singer and his partner reportedly think the feud is "terribly sad" and suggested that "life is short" as he urged them to make up.
