Naomi Campbell allegedly banned from Met Gala due to fallout with Anna Wintour

Express Tribune05-05-2025

Naomi Campbell is reportedly not attending the 2025 Met Gala following a breakdown in relations with Vogue's editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. The decision comes after a public exchange between the pair at a fashion event last year.
Campbell has long been a Met Gala fixture and appeared on 66 Vogue covers during her career. However, her absence from this year's guest list has raised questions across the fashion world. Sources close to the event suggest that the supermodel's on-stage comments directed at Wintour in 2024 may have prompted the exclusion.
The feud reportedly began during New York Fashion Week at the Harlem's Fashion Row ceremony, where Wintour referred to Campbell's well-known lateness while presenting. 'I am a very punctual person,' Wintour said to the crowd, 'and I have the honour of presenting tonight to someone who is often late.' Campbell, who arrived significantly after the event started, missed Wintour's segment entirely, leaving Harper's Bazaar editor Samira Nasr to present her award instead.
In her acceptance speech, Campbell responded, 'It wasn't my choice to have the other lady, I'd much rather have this one,' a comment that reportedly did not sit well with Wintour.
A source told The Sun, 'Naomi shot herself in the stiletto with that comment. You don't throw shade at the queen of fashion and still expect to walk her red carpet.'
Although Campbell has since claimed she was stepping back from the Met Gala due to age and stress, saying in a recent YouTube video, 'It is my last. I'm too old. It's too much for me, the anxiety,' insiders suggest her absence is far from voluntary.
This year's gala, themed 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,' takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with co-chairs including Colman Domingo, Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and LeBron James.

Stop telling people they are old and ugly, says Samina

Samina Peerzada and Sonya Hussaiyn may have just been warring on film as onscreen mother – and daughter-in-law in Deemak, but it will surprise no one to learn that in real life, both stars are united when it comes to denouncing the one issue that encompasses all women: body-shaming. "We should not body-shame anyone," stated Samina categorically during a recent appearance on a local talk show. "No one should say anything about anyone's looks. This is wrong. I don't like this at all. And it has become far too prevalent on social media." As a screen veteran, Samina, musing over a youth-obsessed society, added that she takes personal offence when unsolicited and baseless comments on age enter the equation. "I especially dislike it when someone is a senior and they are told to just step back from it all," continued the Zindagi Gulzar Hai actor. "For a start, in acting, there is no such thing as 'senior' or 'junior' – you are given a character, and you just play it, whatever your age. No one has the right to tell you to stay home and imply you should give up just because you are older." Adding her thoughts, Sonia chimed in with her own defence against unwanted aspersions. "I think people have a habit of commenting on everything – not just on your body," pointed out the Saraab star. "It is up to you how to take something positively or not. People will talk, and you need to know what to discard." Advising those who criticise age or looks, Samina urged fans to focus on merit and a happy demeanour, rather than lost youth and outward beauty. "Instead of all this, you should count people's achievements and how hard they have worked to get to where they are," she insisted. Hinting at double standards where the very act of taking pride in one's appearance is open to mockery the older one gets, Samina cited the example of fellow screen veteran Bushra Ansari – known amongst her fans and YouTube followers for facing negativity with a relentless positive energy. "If someone looks after themselves and takes pride in how they look and are full of life, like Bushra – well, I admire her!" stressed Samina with warmth. "I love her energy! She does so many amazing things with such confidence, without any hesitation!" With Samina's strictures on letting confidence go hand-in-hand with age, coupled with Sonya's advice on discarding unwanted comments, combating body-shaming may just become a little easier.

John Mulaney defends wife Olivia Munn and family against "violent threats" over Ms. Rachel comments

John Mulaney has come to the defence of his wife, Olivia Munn, after her recent comments about children's YouTube content led to violent threats against their family. The controversy began when Olivia shared her opinion that she does not let their two children, Malcolm (3) and Méi (8 months), watch Ms. Rachel's popular educational videos. In an interview published on June 8, Olivia explained that while she recognises kids love Ms. Rachel, she finds the shows overwhelming and chooses not to let her children watch them. However, her remarks quickly spiralled into a backlash. Mulaney revealed that Olivia received 'violent and threatening comments and messages' directed at both her and their children. The comedian took to his Instagram Stories on June 11, stating, 'An innocent comment my wife Olivia Munn made about what children's programmes we like... has somehow unbelievably been conflated with not caring about the deaths of children in Gaza.' Photo: Instagram In response, Olivia Munn clarified her intentions, saying she never meant to undermine the joy Ms. Rachel brings to families. Photo: Instagram Ms. Rachel, the YouTuber behind the children's videos, responded with empathy, stating her support for Munn and distancing her comments from Olivia's personal views.

Natalie Reynolds seen distraught outside TikTok HQ after account ban linked to controversial prank video

A video showing content creator Natalie Reynolds in distress outside TikTok's Los Angeles headquarters has gone viral across social platforms. The 26-year-old influencer appeared visibly upset while attempting to communicate through the building's glass doors during a phone call, reportedly seeking reinstatement of her banned account. Reynolds first gained attention in 2022 through popular lip-sync and dance videos before expanding to prank content and collaborative skits with boyfriend Zachary Huelsman, building audiences of 5.6 million YouTube subscribers and 133,000 Instagram followers. ‼️TikToker Natalie Reynolds was banned from TikTok for deceiving a mentally ill homeless woman into jumping into a lake, by promising her $20.00, and then running away when she could not swim. Austin fire dept/paramedics had to pull her out of the water. — i Expose Racists & Pedos (@SeeRacists) June 9, 2025 TikTok is a career 😬 ... according to Natalie Reynolds and it should go with a messed makeup 😂 Note: She got banned after convincing a homeless woman to jump into the lake for $20 then runaway. — Miriam 🫶🇪🇺🫶 (@Polit1cswithM) June 10, 2025 'I can't swim - I can only float' Natalie Reynolds was a famous TikToker with 2.5M Followers - she convinced a homeless person to jump in this river for $20 and then ran away when she started getting in trouble. TikTok later banned her. Days later she was filmed outside… — Concerned Citizen (@BGatesIsaPyscho) June 10, 2025 The incident follows recent controversy surrounding Reynolds' May prank video in Austin, where she allegedly offered a homeless woman $20 to jump into Lady Bird Lake despite knowing the individual couldn't swim. According to NY Post reports, emergency services responded after Reynolds and her group left the struggling woman unattended. While the influencer claimed the stunt was part of a "scavenger hunt," the footage showed her walking away as the woman called for help. Reynolds attributes her TikTok ban to professional jealousy from fellow creators, though many online commentators have connected the suspension to backlash from the lake incident. The platform has not publicly commented on its decision. Since the ban, Reynolds has shifted focus to Kick streaming, where she regularly engages with her 33,000 followers. The situation highlights ongoing tensions between controversial content creation and platform moderation policies, particularly regarding potentially harmful pranks. Industry observers note the case exemplifies the challenges influencers face when balancing viral attention with responsible content creation.
