PCB stares at loss of crores if Asia Cup is cancelled: 'Revenues from ICC and Asia Cup are very important'
Pakistan cricket could suffer a massive financial blow if the Asia Cup 2025 does not go ahead as planned in September. The Asia Cup's future has been in doubt ever since the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people lost their lives. The relationship between India and Pakistan further deteriorated after India retaliated with air strikes under Operation Sindoor, destroying terror camps in the neighbouring country.
Despite India and Pakistan agreeing to a ceasefire on 10 May, the situation remains tense and could spill over into cricketing matters. An example of it was seen very recently in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 tournament, where the organisers were forced to cancel the India vs Pakistan match due to outrage from Indian fans.

PCB stares at mega loss in absence of Asia Cup
Now, a report states that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) could lose 1.16 billion rupees (INR 35 crore) if the Asia Cup is not held. As per news agency PTI, the PCB is hoping to earn 8.8 billion rupees as its share of revenue from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) during this fiscal year. While USD 25.9 million (approximately 7.7 billion rupees) is expected to come from ICC, PCB is hoping to make 1.16 billion rupees from the Asia Cup. They have also earmarked 7.77 million rupees from other international cricket events.
But if the tournament doesn't take place, then PCB will have to lose that money. 'The revenues from these two major sources (ICC and Asia Cup) are very important for the financial health of Pakistan cricket,' a PCB source told PTI.
The uncertainty over the Asia Cup has increased after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC) refused to attend the ACC AGM in Dhaka on 24 July. Besides the BCCI, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Oman and a few other associate member boards are also not willing to travel to Dhaka for the meeting where Asia Cup's future is to be discussed.
The BCCI has asked ACC to change the venue of the meeting, but it is yet to receive a response. The ACC is currently headed by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

India Extends Ban On Pak Aircraft From Entering Airspace Till August 23
New Delhi: India on Tuesday extended the ban on Pakistani aircraft from entering the domestic airspace till August 23. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol said, in a post on X, "Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) restricting Pakistani aircraft from entering Indian airspace has been officially extended until 23rd August 2025." "This extension reflects continued strategic considerations and is in line with prevailing security protocols. Stay tuned for further updates," the minister informed. This action followed Pakistan's earlier decision to bar Indian flights from its airspace. Pakistan has extended the closure of its airspace for flights operated by Indian airlines by another month, till August 24, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) said last week. The ban will remain in place till August 24 at 5:19 am (India time), the PAA said. Meanwhile, NOTAM has been issued for a large-scale Indian Air Force (IAF) exercise scheduled in Rajasthan along the India-Pakistan border for July 23-25. The Indian Air Force is set to carry out a major military exercise in Rajasthan, covering areas from Barmer to Jodhpur. The region witnessed Pakistani drone and missile intrusions during Operation Sindoor, where Pakistan launched several drone attacks targeting Rajasthan's Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Sri Ganganagar districts. A NOTAM is issued when a specific airspace needs to be cleared of civilian air traffic. Similar notices were issued during previous tensions with Pakistan to ensure that no passenger aircraft would be caught in the middle of potential aerial operations. It helps prevent civilian casualties by keeping commercial aircraft away from zones of military activity. NOTAM was issued against the backdrop of India's 'Operation Sindoor', which was launched on May 7, in retaliation for the terror attack in Pahalgam, where Pakistan-sponsored terrorists killed 26 innocent people.

LS adjourned for second day amid continued ruckus by Opposition
New Delhi, July 22 (UNI) The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the second consecutive day today without any proceedings, following persistent disruptions by Opposition parties. As soon as the House re-assembled at 2 pm, Opposition members trooped into the well of the House, holding placards and shouting slogans. Presiding officer Dilip Saikia urged the agitating members to go back to their seats and let the House function. But the sloganeering by the protesting members continued. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju while condemning the action of the Opposition said, '"It was decided in the meeting that 'Operation Sindoor' would be discussed first, and a specific time has been allotted for it. How can all issues be addressed simultaneously?" He further said that the members protesting with placards is not acceptable. 'In the Business Advisory Committee we have said that the government is ready to discuss. But they (Opposition) don't want to run the House'. 'You waste crores of tax payers' money by disrupting the House,' Rijiju slammed the Opposition. But the Opposition ruckus continued and the Chair adjourned the House till 11 AM on Wednesday. Earlier, the zero hour was disrupted, leading to the adjournment of the House until 2 pm. When the proceedings resumed at 12 noon following the first adjournment, Opposition members entered the well of the House, shouting slogans and causing an uproar. After the papers were laid on the table, presiding officer Jagdambika called for the zero hour. Opposition members raised slogan, demanding discussion on SIR (Special Intensive Review) and other issues and trooped into the well of the House. Pal informed the members that, based on their demand, the Business Advisory Committee has agreed to discuss Operation Sindoor for 16 hours. Therefore, members of all parties should remain seated and participate in the House proceedings. He said that the government is willing to discuss any issue raised by the Opposition, but they did not listen to him and continued to create ruckus. Meanwhile, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal assured the members that the government is ready to hold discussions on all issues. Jagdambika Pal also stated that instead of displaying placards and shouting slogans, members should cooperate in the smooth functioning of the House.
