Damien Leone wrote Terrifier 2 script in his old job delivering flowers
The 41-year-old filmmaker has recalled how he crafted the script for the second movie in his ultraviolent slasher franchise whilst working in his previous job.
Damien told the 'Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum' podcast: "I literally wrote the entire movie of 'Terrifier 2' when I was delivering flowers. Almost all the ideas came to me as I was driving that van."
The filmmaker explained that he never wanted to lock himself out of the movie industry before he went on to find success with the 'Terrifier' franchise.
Leone said: "I didn't want to dive into a career that would keep me away from filmmaking. I needed a 9 to 5 job that I could break away from any time I would get a freelance gig doing makeup effects on a movie or if I was gonna make my own movie."
The 'Terrifier' franchise features the iconic antagonist Art the Clown and Damien revealed that the murderous character was conceived when he was making his first short film.
He said: "I wish it was a cooler story. It was when I was gonna make my first short film, I said, 'Why is anybody going to watch this?'
"I'm a makeup effects artist, so I'm gonna try and pack this thing out in 10 minutes with creatures and some makeup effects gags and sort of generic characters that I enjoy and creep me out.
"Clowns always creep me out. I didn't have a particular fascination with killer clowns, they didn't scare me.
"I knew I could put a spin on the clown and make a cool version of one at least and then it comes down to the process of creating it.
"It was very quick (to create). I sketched him. That's why his name is Art. I kept referring to him as that. There was never a second name. Things like that just click, you feel like they happen for a reason."
Art the Clown is portrayed by David Howard Thornton in the film series and Leone knew immediately that the star was right for the role because he had the perfect physicality.
The filmmaker said: "He was the sixth person to audition. I knew instantly.
"There's a good chance I would've cast him just on his physicality alone when he walked in the room. As soon as I saw him I said, 'He's just gonna look great.' I was looking for a tall, skinny person with a big smile."
The director explained that the actor behind the antagonist couldn't be any more different from the role he plays.
The 'Frankenstein vs. The Mummy' helmer said: "He's a walking cartoon character, he couldn't be any more different to Art the Clown, it's incredible."
Damien also revealed that he had to curb the enthusiasm of star Lauren LaVera – who plays the role of Sienna Shaw – when it came to doing stunts for the flick.
He recalled: "She was so psyched about it and she read the script. She's a stunt performer, so she couldn't wait to get in and do all the physical stuff. She wanted to do stunts that I wouldn't even let her do."

Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke join Zach Braff in Scrubs revival
Zach Braff will be joined in the Scrubs revival by Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke. The medial comedy-drama has officially been given a series order by ABC and not only is the show lead Zach reprising his role as Dr. John Michael 'J.D.' Dorian, he will be joined by his former co-stars as Dr. Chris Turk and Dr. Elliot Reid, his on-screen wife, respectively. Meanwhile, Zach previously confessed to feeling "exhausted" at the end of his time on 'Scrubs'. The 50-year-old actor loved the experience of shooting the show - but he also admitted that it took a toll on him. He told the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast: "I miss laughing every day. Belly laughing every day was - that was the job. And when that goes away, by the time nine years were over, we were sort of all exhausted by it." Zach also confessed that he "didn't really have much of a life outside of [the show]". He said: "We were starting to repeat jokes. Everyone's pretty fried. "We would do insane hours that people don't even do anymore. We didn't really have much of a life outside of it. So we were just kind of fried."

Damien Leone set to cast WWE Superstar Rhea Ripley in Terrifier 4
WWE Superstar Rhea Ripley is set for a role in Terrifier 4, director Damien Leone has teased. The 28-year-old wrestler has been very vocal about her love of the slasher franchise, which follows demonic killer Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) and his thirst for blood. Rhea has admitted she would do anything for a role in the fourth and final film, and is more than happy to be one of Art's victims. In an interview with YouTuber Chris Van Vliet, she said: "Oh, I would love that. I want to be in Terrifier [4] so badly. It's the last one, Damian said that this is going to be the last one. Yeah. Kill me. Kill me, I don't care.' Franchise creator Damien saw Rhea's comments and responded to her wish on his X account. He posted: "The wheels are turning @RheaRipley_WWE " Elsewhere in her interview, Rhea spoke to Chris Van Vliet about how she is desperate to meet Art the Clown actor David, 45, and she just hopes she doesn't become "too annoying" as a super-fan of the franchise. She said: "David [Howard Thornton], good old Art the Clown, I want to meet him so bad. I'm just waiting for that day. "I've been trying to get him to come watch WWE, and it's just like our schedules just don't line up. But one day I will meet him, and I hope that I'm not too annoying. I really hope I'm not too annoying. I love my fans, but I really hope that they haven't made my name stale to him, because he's probably heard it over and over and over again, 'Do you know Rhea Ripley?' AEW grappler Chris Jericho - who previously wrestled in WWE for several years - played a nurse in Terrifier 3 who meets a bloody end at the hands of Art the Clown. Chris - who was first scene briefly in a mid-credits scene at the end of Terrifier 2 - said in a previous conversation with JoBlo Celebrity Interviews: "I was a big fan of the first movie. We discovered it on the Fozzy tour bus, and I was the first person that I knew was talking about it. So I was going on Talk is Jericho, my podcast, and letting everybody know about this movie that you have to see because I have a big horror fan contingency for the show. Then I did a Comic-Con horror con, I guess, where David was there and he was on Talk Is Jericho. That's kind of how it all started. I was like, 'You guys got to watch this movie, Terrifier this, Terrifier that.' "I'd like to think that I was part of the grassroots movement to turn people onto this film, and then, once it became kind of a talked about cult hit when Damien started talking about doing part two, he asked me if I wanted to be involved, and I was like, of course. Just tell me what time and what mental institution in Staten Island I have to be at.' Terrifier 4 will see Lauren LaVera reprise her role as Sienna Shaw for her final battle with Art the Clown.

Happy Gilmore 2 star Julie Bowen feared being replaced by 'younger woman'
Julie Bowen expected to be replaced by a "younger woman" in Happy Gilmore 2. The 55-year-old actress has reprised the role of Virginia Venit, Happy's love interest, in the long-awaited new movie - but Julie actually feared that she might've been replaced by a younger actress. During an appearance on the Inside of You podcast, Julie shared: "I didn't think they'd bring me back at all. "I mean, who am I supposed to be? He's got to have a younger woman in this one, Happy Gilmore 2." Julie starred alongside Adam Sandler in the original Happy Gilmore movie, which premiered in 1996. But Julie wasn't confident that would be cast in the first film either. The actress recalled: "I read and they were relieved. They were visibly relieved. I go, 'What's going on?' They're like, 'Yeah, some of these girls are just so aggressively sexy.' And I was like, 'That's a bad thing?'" Julie previously revealed that she thought Sydney Sweeney was set to replace her in Happy Gilmore 2. The actress thought someone like Sydney was perfectly suited to replace her in the much-anticipate new comedy movie. Julie told The Hollywood Reporter: "I thought, 'Well I won't be in it'. And that was OK - it was like Virginia Venit, it's been 30 years, he's got a hottie. He's got some little bitty on the side, like a cart girl. "As a matter of fact my children told me, before I was even told officially that there was a 'Happy Gilmore' sequel, my now 18-year-old said, 'Mom, I hear they're doing a sequel and he's with Sydney Sweeney as a cart girl.'" Sydney, 27, was widely linked with a role in the new 'Happy Gilmore' movie - but Julie was pleasantly surprised to be offered a part in the sequel. The actress - who stars alongside in the new film alongside the likes of Margaret Qualley, Christopher McDonald and Ben Stiller - said: "I went, I'm hurt and I so respect that move. Of course, why wouldn't you? So when I got the call that I was actually in it, I was like, 'Are you sure? Come on.'"
