Cannes Film Festival: Alice Rohrwacher Named President Of Caméra D'or Jury
Italian director and screenwriter Alice Rohrwacher has been chosen to chair the Jury of the Caméra d'or. She follows in the footsteps of last year's joint chairs Emmanuelle Béart and Baloji.
This award honors a first feature film presented in the Official Selection, at the Critics' Week or the Directors' Fortnight. Rohrwacher will also recognize a filmmaker's debut at the Closing Ceremony of the 78th Festival de Cannes on Saturday May 24.

In 2024, the Caméra d'or went to Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel for Armand which premiered at Un Certain Regard. The 78th Festival de Cannes will take place from Tuesday May 13 to Saturday May 24, 2025.
Rohrwacher said:
'First times are always important, and they stay with us for the rest of our lives. Like entering an unfamiliar room, approaching one's beloved for a first kiss, or landing on a foreign shore. There's something golden that haloes these moments in our memory. Is that why the most prestigious award for first films is called Caméra d'or?'
Her first feature, Heavenly Body (Corpo Celeste), was presented at the Directors' Fortnight in 2011.
Her second feature, The Wonders (Le meravialie), was selected to compete at the 2014 Festival de Cannes and won the Grand Prix. Happy as Lazzaro (Lazzaro Felice) was presented in Competition in Cannes in 2018, when it tied for the award for Best Screenplay. La Chimera followed in 2023.
Previously she worked in documentary, with titles including Checosamanca (2006); 9×10 Novanta (2014); Futura (2021).

‘RHOM's Alexia Nepola & Marysol Patton On Tuning Out Opinions From Viewers & Why Filming Break Helped Some Of The Ladies In The Friend Group
Alexia Nepola and Marysol Patton are back on Bravo as The Real Housewives of Miami return to television. The reality series took an extended break between seasons to break from the yearly filming schedule and see the ladies during another phase of their lives. Ahead of the season premiere, Deadline talked to Nepola and Patton about what viewers can expect in the new season and how it was returning to film after the extended break. 'I should actually have a body cam on myself [to] document everything in my life. I should really be filming all year round, but thank God I'm not, because… sometimes you do need a little break,' Nepola said. 'It makes sense because sometimes you do need to give some of the ladies in the friend group some months off to develop and have more things going on and whatnot.' Patton says that she wished 'every day' she had a camera on herself and Nepola when cameras were down, but ultimately noted that the extended break helped, saying, 'to have story lines [for] real things. Because the minute you jump into things too quickly, you don't have enough time to have new things going on in your life. Look what happened with Julia – we had a break and she adopted two children. It was [also] big changes in Alexia's life and changes in the friend group as well. Some people got closer, some people you would have expected to be close forever are no longer close. Time does a lot of miracles.' Alexia Nepola on tuning out opinions from viewers The premiere episode of RHOM shows the cast coming together to support Nepola as she announces her separation from her husband. However, things are much different now as Nepola and her husband have patched things up and worked things out. 'It's hard,' Nepola said of watching the episode showcasing a contrasting part of her life. 'But with that being said, I look back and that's the beauty of life, right? How I was going through so much pain and hurt a year ago, and today, I'm filled with hope, and I'm happy and I'm in a much better place.' She continued, 'I'm in a good place right now. But, if I wasn't, maybe the story would be different. As far as my relationship goes, like any other relationship, there's ebbs and flows, and highs and lows. It was very emotional for me.' Nepola is one of the few housewives who lives authentically in front of the cameras and doesn't make life choices based on how viewers might perceive her and says, 'I tune out.' 'I don't feel or think about the consequences, but it's kind of too late because you're in the moment and you're feeling it, and you're doing it,' Nepola adds. 'I've never done anything for camera. Maybe I should do less. Maybe that's my problem, that I say too much and I do too much, but that's how I am in my real life. The camera just documents it.' Why cast is different from the others The Real Housewives are known to have fiery conversations, but the Miami ladies keep it light and fun, and never seemingly go to a place where they can't come back from. 'I think for the most part, people can be shady, but they're not too nasty, except for one person. We've only got one person with a nasty problem. Other than that, that's a good quota for nine women. Just saying,' Patton says. Nepola adds, 'I feel like we're too nice. I feel like our friend group that we're too nice. I don't really watch any other Housewife show, but I watch clips, and I'm very friendly with many of the other women on the other shows, and I feel like they really go at each other.' Patton notes that she thinks the RHOM cast is different 'because we're all actually friends,' adding, 'When you're not friends with people, you don't care how you treat them, and a lot of these shows are cast with strangers just to fill a spot, and they're not really friends. We're all really friends.' 'And that's why it works for us, you can't lie to the camera,' Nepola says. 'You can really see that we're all friends, and we have so much history and we fight like sisters and we love like sisters, so I think that that's what the audience really loves about our show.' Alexia Nepola and Marysol Patton's take on the feud between Larsa Pippen and Lisa Hochstein The premiere episode of RHOM Season 7 sees a fallout between Larsa Pippen and Lisa Hochstein, which ends with Hochstein kicking Pippen out of her home. 'I'm very friendly with both of them, and I love and care for both of them. So as your friends, it was very hard to watch,' Nepola said about the feud. Patton adds, 'Eventually, we removed ourselves. We were like, 'You guys, have to figure it out. We can't do anymore. I don't want to hear you complain. I don't want to hear you complain. You two need to complain to each other and figure it out.'' If faced with a similar situation about being kicked out of someone's home, Patton says, 'Yo me muero.' ('I would die.') 'Yo me voy,' Nepola adds, saying she would have left. 'It was horrible. I was mortified. I felt terrible for Larsa because she was very upset about it and she was very sad. I mean, just the fact that she went, maybe I wouldn't have even gone to Lisa's house because they were already feeling a certain kind of way about each other. I knew that by seeing each other at some point during the night, that was going to happen.' Patton says she wouldn't have kicked anyone out of her home and says she has even had fellow co-star Adriana de Moura at her place, despite them not being friendly. 'I have had Adriana in my home over three times and handed her gifts, and I've never thought in a moment, how much I don't want you here, that I would actually throw you out of my house, because I would never throw anyone out,' she says. and the cast trips No one does it like The Real Housewives of Miami, and Nepola and Patton teased the trips the cast will be taking in Season 7. Patton teases that the cast trip to Sevilla in Spain was in honor of Alexia, adding, 'Alexia grew up in Spain in her teen years. She was in high school there and she loves it. It was beautiful.' 'It was our best trip. I feel like when we go on trips, you can't even invent the the shit [that] goes down. I don't know what it is, but the energy is different. Everyone's on 10,' Nepola says. 'You'll get to see laughter and you'll get to see tears. You get to see both, which is what makes us human and makes us real, and it makes us relatable because we're going through shit and you can see it, but we also have a lot of fun, and it's just beautiful. Sevilla is a beautiful setting.' Nepola also notes that the cast also goes on a cruise, which was thanks to Patton, who said, 'I might be friends with Richard Branson, so we go on this cruise, and it was great. We had a lot of fun.' The pair, who met on Season 5 of the hit Netflix dating show, are splitting after turmoil in their marriage, Gonzalez revealed on a Wednesday, June 11 episode of the What's the Reality? podcast. While their marriage once felt like a fairy tale, the 34-year-old geologist said she now feels that Johnson was never ready to be a husband. "It wasn't one thing. Yeah, it was a layer of situations and things that just kept piling it up," Gonzalez told host and fellow "Love Is Blind" alum Amber Desiree "AD" Smith. When Gonzalez informed Johnson that she would file for divorce, he allegedly said he would not sign them unless there was a non-disclosure agreement. "And that said enough for me to know that I needed to share my truth and my experience, because I've been suffering in silence," she said. "This is just my chance to speak my truth for me and for other people that always reach out to me and tell me that I'm an inspiration. I feel that it was very hypocritical me not share this with the world when they have been so transparent with me." Lydia said Milton would not cut off 'disrespectful' ex-partner One of the first signs of trouble in their marriage was an argument the two had about one of Johnson's ex-partners, according to Gonzalez. She considered the woman "very insistent" and "very disrespectful towards our marriage." She added that he also kept a ripped up love letter from the woman in a shoebox at their apartment. At one point, Gonzalez went through Johnson's phone and said she found a text from him referring to the woman that read "I want to (expletive) that person." "When I saw that my heart went to the floor. I felt like betrayed and disrespected," she said. "And then I remember calling him and telling him, 'how long has it been that you want to (expletive) this person.' And he was like, 'what are we talking about.'" Johnson denied any infidelity, adding that he would never jeopardize their marriage and said "that's how boys talk," according to Gonzalez. USA TODAY has reached out to Johnson for comment. 'Love is Blind' pair tried marriage counseling Gonzalez said that her husband felt that she had violated their trust and one day called her "stupid and an untrustworthy person." "I don't consider myself a jealous person, unless you give me motives to, once you give me motives to I'll become a detective. I don't care because my gut instinct is so clever. I mean, it never fails me," she said. She added that the two participated in couple's therapy but that she felt it was not working. Gonzalez said other issues included Johnson becoming distant and addicted to the video game "Halo" and him allegedly scolding her in front of his family for cursing too much. Over time, she said his comments "kept making me feel small" and eventually made the decision to end the relationship she once felt showed her the "kind of love that I've never received before." The pair met on Season 5 of the reality dating show on Netflix, in which contestants looking for romance interact via pods designed to keep their appearances a mystery.

Designer handbags, high-end jewelry and a 5,300 square-foot home. Sean "Diddy" Combs' former girlfriend "Jane" was whisked off into a romance of luxury — but what was the true cost? The woman, who is testifying under a pseudonym amid Combs' federal sex-crimes trial, has gotten candid on the rapper's financial support and the role it played in their allegedly fraught dynamic. Although Jane is speaking in court as a witness for the prosecution, following a subpoena to testify in September 2024, Combs is paying for her legal representation in the high-profile proceeding. She previously said she doesn't plan to sue him. Jane estimates her multimillionaire ex-boyfriend wired her more than $150,000 throughout their relationship, setting up a web of financial codependency. The woman, who worked as an online influencer, claims she was forced to scale back her professional pursuits while dating Combs. As further revealed in Jane's testimony, Combs' lavish gifts underlaid a complex relationship pattern for the on-and-off couple, who dated from 2021-2024. Despite his material affections, Jane has described several instances of alleged physical abuse and sexual exploitation by the Grammy-winning rapper, including being punched, choked, kicked and dragged by the hair. Bottega bags During cross-examination on June 10, Jane's testimony turned sharp when she shared that she felt Combs gave other women more gifts and quality time during their relationships. Jane has alleged Combs coerced her on multiple occasions to take part in "hotel nights," a demanding series of sexual performances in which Combs pushed her to have sex with several men consecutively, lasting as long as three and a half days. Geragos asked Jane how much a bag from the brand Bottega Veneta costs, an apparent reference to the thousands of dollars Combs reportedly gave Jane during their relationship (handbags from the Italian luxury fashion house range from $1,100 to $61,000). Jane shot back: "How much does my body cost?" Jane testified that Combs made a dinner reservation at Nobu that was "conveniently" located in the same hotel they were staying in. "I asked if he can please romance me outside of hotel rooms," Jane said. Geragos pointed out to Jane that Combs arranged a photoshoot for her birthday, as well as gifted her a Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet and necklace right before the alleged "freak-off.""I'm receiving my gift, I've taken a pill and I'm waiting for the entertainer," Jane said. "Any type of affection at this point in my life that I get from Sean, I welcome with open arms." Jane says Diddy's rent payments were a 'control tactic' Toward the end of her testimony on June 6, Jane was asked by prosecutors where she currently lived. In a revelation that drew gasps from the courtroom, Combs' ex said she lives in the same home from when Combs was sending her $10,000 each month as part of their "love contract" and that the music mogul still pays for her rent. Moreover, the woman confirmed on June 10 that when she moved into a rental home in April 2023, Combs paid approximately $40,000 to cover the security deposit and rent for her first and last month. When Geragos asked Jane if she believed Combs would stop paying her rent, she alleged he used the payments as a control tactic. "There were some times that I definitely felt that he would do that," Jane said. "And he used it kind of as a little tool. The rent was always just like a little reminder." However, the woman said when she met Combs in Miami, she was dismayed to see his text asking her to "plan a night of debauchery and fun, then straight to the airport." Though she was under the impression there would be no other men for the trip, Combs allegedly turned to her while they were watching porn and asked if she wanted to invite one of the sex workers they'd hired before. Jane said she agreed only because "I became accustomed to the rhythm of things and wanted to make him happy." Diddy invests $20K in Jane's fashion line but discourages influencer career While on the stand June 10, Jane testified that Combs invested about $20,000 in a fashion line she started, which centered on dresses and swimwear. But when it came to her online influencer career, Jane said the rapper was unsupportive. Although Jane at one point had a successful OnlyFans account, the woman said Combs didn't want her to share content on the subscription-based platform, popular in the sex work industry, because he didn't want her to be part of something some view as taboo (Jane said she still joined in 2024). Reflecting on the career impact from dating Combs, Jane estimated that she only met about 10% of her potential earnings through influencing as a result of her devotion to their relationship.
