Actor Vijay Sethupathi has found himself at the centre of controversy following tweets by a user on X (formerly known as Twitter), accusing him of sexual exploitation. In a conversation with Deccan Chronicle, Vijay firmly denied the allegations and confirmed that his team has complained to the cybercrime authorities.In a statement, Vijay said, 'Anyone who knows me, even slightly, would find this laughable. I know who I am. Such vile accusations don't rattle me. My family and close friends are disturbed, but I tell them, 'Let it go. This woman is clearly seeking attention. She's having her few minutes of fame, let her have it.''advertisementHe added, 'We've reported the matter to cybercrime. I've endured whisper campaigns for the past seven years. None of it has affected me, and it never will.'
The allegations were made by a woman named Ramya Mohan through her X account, which has since been deleted. Her post claimed that a young woman had been manipulated and exploited under the pretext of industry norms, leading to her undergoing rehabilitation.The post stated, '@VijaySethuOffl has offered Rs. 2L for 'caravan favours', Rs. 50k for 'drives', and yet presents himself as a saint on social media.' Although no names or timelines were mentioned, the post ended with, 'It's insane how some insensitive morons are more concerned with questioning the source or blaming the victim than acknowledging the truth. This was her life, her pain.'
