If you don't know the acronym LBD, we'll assume you've been living under a rock.
Though there is a grey area over whether LBD means little black dress or long black dress, but we'll leave you to debate that one. For this piece, we're taking it to mean the latter.
M&S has impressed us in recent years with its stylish pieces, and has shed its stereotype that the brand was solely for the mature woman – aka our mums and grandmothers. But that couldn't be further from the truth.
Our virtual basket is filled to the brim, and one staple we are snapping up before it sells out is the M&S Pure Cotton Round Neck Midi Waisted Dress, which fetches £45. In our opinion, it is the perfect summer dress we intend to wear on rotation this season.
Crafted from pure cotton, this lightweight and versatile dress is ultra flattering. It boasts a fitted bodice, round neckline, and floaty A-line skirt that falls midway down the calf. Available in petite, regular and tall, as well as UK dress sizes 6 to 24. BUY NOW FOR £45
The Pure Cotton Round Neck Midi Waisted Dress is oh-so chic and versatile, which is why it gets our vote of confidence.
The design boasts a round neck, is sleeveless, and has a fitted bodice, which is ultra flattering. The cinched-in waist beautifully contrasts the voluminous A-line puff skirt, which falls midway down the calves. Plus, it features button fastening on the back to secure the dress in place.
The higher neck, combined with the midi-length skirt, provides coverage, and makes this design ideal for wearing to the office, and more formal events too.
The pure cotton fabric is ultra lightweight, breathable and comfortable for hours of wear – especially in the warmer weather. Plus, it is easy to wash at a 40 degree temperature. More Trending
We can't wait to wear this staple all summer long. We will pair with ballet pumps and a denim jacket, maybe even layer a tight t-shirt underneath on those slightly fresh summer days.
If we're looking for an even more casual look we would style with sandals, perhaps trainers, and a denim jacket. This dress will also see you through any summer parties, weddings, and other formal events styled with wedges or kitten heel thong sandals and jazzy accessories.
For £45 we think this dress is an absolute steal, especially when we think about the styling options and all the events in our calendar we can wear this number. It's a timeless staple we know we will bring out every summer, and holiday season for that matter.

Marks & Spencer is back online – these are my favourite fashion picks for summer
I spend a lot of time covering M&S, but the retail giant has been in the news for other reasons this year. Over the Easter weekend, M&S was forced to stop taking orders on its website after days of disruption in stores caused by a cyberattack. With deliveries paused and products in short supply, it's cost the retailer more than £300 million in sales. But, the good news is that online orders have now been resumed. As investigations into the cyber attack continue, stock is set to slowly return online for deliveries and click-and-collect orders. An M&S spokesperson told me: 'We're offering our bestselling products, along with newness and this makes up the majority of our range which is available online today (10 June).' 'More of our fashion, home and beauty ranges will be added every day. For products that are not available online, customers can add them to their 'wish list' and when they come back into stock we will let them know.' Customer loyalty will be key to M&S's survival, with analysts commenting that the retailer has been losing out to rivals. Indeed, the shutdown of online operations coincided with a spring heatwave in the UK, when many people were in the market for summer clothes. I spend much of my time browsing, trying on and reviewing the quality of clothes, particularly on the high street. Whether it's wedding guest dresses or sandals, M&S constantly impresses me with its comfortable and well-crafted clothes, low prices and on-trend styles. While its homeware easily rivals designer brands (see its Tekla-style towels or Pooky-inspired lamps), it's the retailer's fashion that really stands out. It's always been a go-to for well-fitted but feminine bras and soft pyjamas and dressing gowns that will last you years, but M&S used to have a reputation for dowdy clothing. Maddy Evans, director of womenswear at M&S, has led the charge to reinvigorate the brand's clothing offering. Former Topshop fashion director Evans has helped M&S shake those frumpy associations, targeting women who have one eye on the latest designed collections on the catwalk, and another on purse-friendly value. Its fashion takes runway trends and make them wearable day-to-day, all at affordable price points. So, with summer officially here and a heatwave predicted for this weekend, M&S online orders couldn't have resumed at a better time. Here's everything I'm bagging for this season. Giving the designer look for less, this pair of pumps earned a spot in our round-up of the best ballet flats for 2025. Combining the comfort we've come to expect from the high street stalwart with newly elevated style, the dainty style is available in white, black or red and features a slim sole, square toe and flat heel. The delicate self-tie bow fastening and ruched detailing elevate the simple silhouette. Trust me, they're the comfiest flats I own. Swap your florals for polka dot this season. The classic print is having a comeback and this sweet blouse is the perfect everyday style. Characterised by a round neckline and three bow-tie fastenings at the front, the top is cut into a peplum hem with puffed sleeves for extra impact. Finished in all-over polka dot, there's flower-jacquard embellishment for texture. Leopard print is perennially cool (it's a neutral, in my opinion), but the style is back in a big way this summer. M&S's playful take featured in my round-up of the best summer dresses for 2025. Boasting a body-skimming cut that flatters your silhouette, it runs true to size. Complete with a laidback crew neckline and mini hemline, the polyester fabric has a soft jersey feel. M&S also helpfully offers petite, regular and tall lengths, so you can find the perfect fit. An investment for your everyday wardrobe, this M&S style is designed with a fitted bodice and round neckline. The A-line skirt flows out from the waist for a midi hemline cut. Simple but sophisticated, style it with ballet flats and trainers day-to-day before jazzing it up with jewellery and kitten heels in the evening. M&S's linen rich skirt is finished in one of this season's hottest hues, tomato red. Distinguished by its A-line shape and ankle-grazing hem, the shirring on the waistband adds flattering detail. Tone down the bold red hue with a simple white Tee. An effortless way to look put-together, every wardrobe can benefit from a denim dress. This M&S style features a mid hemline and milk-maid style puffed sleeves, while the three bow tie fastenings in the body nod to Ganni. Better yet, there's side pockets. A great choice for Wimbledon or summer occasions, this pure cotton cami dress is finished in a timeless polka dot. Complete with a midaxi-length and flattering sweetheart neckline, the dress has subtle ruched detailing on the bodice to enhance your silhouette.

Trinny Woodall, 61, displays her impressive abs in skintight matching gym set as she hosts a yoga session with fans
Trinny Woodall displayed her impressive abs as she lead a yoga session with her fans on Tuesday. The What Not To Wear star, 61, proved age is just a number as she showed off her toned torso on social media. Trinny took to her Instagram Story of Tuesday to share she was about to go live on YouTube with a yoga class for her followers to join in on. She announced the class sporting a skintight matching gym set in a grey crocodile print, consisting of a strappy sports bra and high-waisted leggings. In the clip, Trinny said: 'Good morning all, sorry for the lateness. Once a month I do Australian telly and it doesn't end until 12, so I just overslept. 'Anyway Victoria's here and we're going to do a sort of half an hour yoga session of just waking up your body and getting ready for the day. So join us on YouTube now.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. It comes after Trinny opened up about her struggle with her weight, admitting that the pounds fall off her too easily. Also taking to Instagram, she shared that she now focuses on getting enough protein in her diet after losing 4kg from an illness. She said: 'I'm not one to talk about weight because for me it's about strength and definitely the maintenance of protein as you go down the path of life. 'But today I am I have always had a high metabolism and I have always been what some people might define as thin. 'What I don't love is when I lose weight especially after being ill and I can lose it quickly - what I notice is the change in my body.' Trinny added: 'Muscle needs daily protein and muscle keeps my bones protected - it gives structure to my skin and it gives me physical and mental strength. 'It is harder as you get older to maintain muscle mass, but it is so important.' So in a bid to keep her body looking its best, she has recently doubled her protein intake. Trinny took to her Instagram Story of Tuesday to share she was about to go live on YouTube with a yoga class for her followers to join in on Trinny joked: 'I don't want to be in a bikini with a saggy a**e. I'm just going admit that one. 'But most importantly when i get sick and lose weight it makes me feel so so vulnerable to not being strong in myself and how when I am physically strong it gives me such a mental strength. 'Ask yourself are you taking enough protein every day? You should really take double the kilos that you weigh especially as you reach menopause and beyond... Sometimes that's really challenging.' Trinny openly talks about some of the health benefits she buys into as the reason she looks so good into her 60s - including regular workouts and consistent skincare. She most recently revealed the secrets behind her noticeably radiant complexion after what she describes as a 'very stressful' few months. Trinny, the powerhouse creator of beauty brand Trinny London, has seen her business skyrocket over the past few years with a rapidly growing following. Torn between her many commitments, she was starting to really feel - and see - the impact of her hectic schedule. Until she discovered her unexpected love for daily meditation - something she admits 'wasn't for her' but now describes as 'profound'. She told FEMAIL: 'I lead quite a stressed life and I was realising that stress, medically, is a really sh**ty place to get to for your body. It just is. It will affect you physically and medically. 'So I thought I would take control before I let stress affect my body in a negative way. 'I had two people come into my life and I noticed such a profound difference in how they were [after meditating]. One of them I thought had had a facelift, and the other was just so much easier to sit and chat to.' Inspired, Trinny started getting up half an hour earlier each morning and spend 20 minutes meditating with a mantra. She then finds time for a second 20-minute block in the afternoon - even if it's in the bathroom at her office. 'I've been doing it for four weeks now and I really feel a shift. When you're stressed, from an aesthetic perspective, it shows on your face,' she said.

She explained: 'M&S has really pulled it out of the bag this season, there is so much good product to be excited about. 'A brand once known for its 'frumpy fashion' that notion is long gone with it now being one of the leading high street stores for womenswear. 'Its handbag range in particular is super strong with them selling 170% vs plan, with lots more designer dupes for just a fraction of the price. 'The brand is now also the #1 for style perceptions, compared to the #3 spot it had last year, this comes from a really strong design team focused on modernising the brand, not only taking into consideration how the pieces look, but how easy they are to wear also. 'Price is also a big factor with you being able to get many good quality pieces all for under £30. 'After having a sneak peak of the upcoming collection there are so many more amazing pieces that are dropping over the next few months to keep your eyes on. 'Think leopard print dresses, colourful co-ords, embroidered boho jackets, plus lots of swimwear and amazing accessories, as well as great wardrobe staples that will last year on year.'
