HCA President Jagan Mohan Rao held by CID over embezzlement allegations by SRH
Besides Jagan Mohan Rao, HCA Treasurer C Srinivas Rao, CEO Sunil Kante, and two others have been arrested, they said.
"Five have been arrested over embezzlement of funds, mismanagement, among other charges," a top police official told PTI.
The HCA office bearers were taken into custody by the CID on Wednesday following allegations levelled against Jagan Mohan Rao and others by the Sunrisers Hyderabad during the 2025 IPL season, police said.
Earlier, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had ordered an inquiry into Sunrisers Hyderabad's plea seeking intervention of cricket governing bodies to halt the recurring 'blackmailing tactics' by the HCA.
HCA, however, denied all such charges by the franchise. In a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council, Sunrisers Hyderabad alleged that the HCA was "threatening" the franchise, primarily for more complimentary tickets (free passes). The franchise also stated that it would consider shifting its home matches to another state if the issue persisted. However, Jagan Mohan Rao had denied all allegations, saying that no such demands were made to the franchise.

Punjab: 2 men open fire at Hoshiarpur YouTuber's house, none hurt
Two unidentified bike-borne miscreants fired gunshots at the house of a social media influencer (YouTuber), Simran Sikand, alias Sam, in Model Town locality on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. No one was injured in the incident. The assailants fled before a cop deployed in family's security could respond. Sikand claimed that Bhatti threatened him with a grenade attack at his house, following which the YouTuber was provided police security. He revealed that several attempts have been made on him and his family in the recent past and that he had received a threat from Pakistan-based don Shahzad Bhatti in March. 'In a video call, Bhatti had told me that I was his target,' claimed Sam. Bhatti had taken the responsibility for a grenade attack at the house of Jalandhar-based YouTuber Rozar Sandhu and senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia earlier this year. Sam alleged that he had conveyed his security concerns to senior police officers many times but he was not provided proper security. 'One of the two security personnel deployed at my house is physically challenged and incapable of defending my family,' he added. An FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act has been registered at the Model Town police station, said police, and further investigation is underway. UK police make over 500 arrests in largest Palestine Action protest
London, Aug 10 (PTI) The Metropolitan Police on Sunday arrested more demonstrators, taking the previous figure of 474 to over 500 during a weekend that saw the UK's largest protests in support of Palestine Action, banned by the government recently, making it a criminal offence to show any backing for the group. While 522 of those arrested during a demonstration in London were detained under the UK's Terrorism Act for showing support for a proscribed group, others were held for other offences, including assaulting police officers. Meanwhile, hundreds of pro-Israel counter-protesters also marched through central London on Sunday, demanding the release of hostages still held in Gaza and in a show of solidarity with Israel in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Many of those arrested at the pro-Palestine demonstrations were displaying placards expressing support for Palestine Action. The average age of those arrested was 54, and the most arrests — 147 of them — were of people aged between 60 and 69. The Met Police, the country's largest police force, said it marked the most arrests made in a single operation in a decade. 'Our role in the context of protest remains as it always has been – to police without fear or favour, to enforce the law, to keep the peace by ensuring groups with opposing views do not come together and to prevent serious disorder and serious disruption to ordinary people going about their lives," said Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan, who led the policing operation. 'Palestine Action was proscribed based on strong security advice following serious attacks the group has committed, involving violence, significant injuries, and extensive criminal damage," said Cooper. Amnesty International UK's chief executive Sacha Deshmukh said the protesters in Parliament Square were not inciting violence, and it is entirely disproportionate to the point of absurdity to be treating them as terrorists. 'Instead of criminalising peaceful demonstrators, the government should be focusing on taking immediate and unequivocal action to put a stop to Israel's genocide and ending any risk of UK complicity in it," he said. Those arrested were taken to processing points at Westminster in central London, and those whose details could be confirmed were released on bail on the condition that they must not attend further Palestine Action support events. Others whose details could not be verified, many refusing to give them to the police, were taken to custody suites across London. Legislation to ban Palestine Action came into force on 5 July, carrying a prison sentence of up to 14 years for showing support for the group. 'Palestine Action and people holding cardboard signs present no danger to the public at large," said a spokesperson for Defend Our Juries, one of the organisers of the protests. IED found in Jharkhand forest
Chaibasa: An IED was found in a forest in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district on Sunday, police said. The IED, weighing 5 kg, is suspected to have been planted by Maoists to target security forces, they said. The IED was found in the Saranda forest in the Jaraikela police station area, they added.
