Kaizer Chiefs change minds on African star?

It seems Kaizer Chiefs have made a U-turn on Fiacre Ntwari. The Rwandan star may be staying at the Betway Premiership giants.
For months, reports linked the former TS Galaxy star with a move to Africa. Tanzanian giants Young Africans and Simba SC were rumoured to be circling.
But in a twist, Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly decided to keep him on for the 2025/26 season to compete with Brandon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma.

Ntwari made 21 appearances for TS Galaxy before earning the move to Amakhosi. Since moving to Soweto, he has featured sparingly, struggling to secure regular game time behind the first-choice goalkeepers.
'Ntwari is an international goalkeeper. He's with the team and the club wishes him all the best this season,' a source told Soccer Laduma . 'They want him to push Brandon for that spot. You have to understand, he plays for the Rwanda national team. The club wants that competition.' Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari during the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season. Image: Goal

'As much as Petersen may start, Ntwari must also fight with Bruce Bvuma. Nothing is guaranteed. The club wants him to stay and compete,' the insider added.

Kaizer Chiefs: Full list of new signings and departures

Kaizer Chiefs have made their seventh signing of the season after confirming the arrival of Asanele Velebayi. Amakhosi have been linked with the 22-year-old winger for over a year. Following Cape Town Spurs' relegation to the ABC Motsepe League, the Soweto giants swiftly pounced on landing the player's signature on a free transfer, but the Urban Warriors did not go down without a fight. The Cape side insisted they are entitled to a transfer fee despite their relegation to the third division. It appears, though, that Chiefs might have had the last laugh after all. 'Asanele Velebayi has officially joined Kaizer Chiefs,' Amakhosi said in a statement on Tuesday. 'The Cape Town-born winger has signed a long-term contract, fulfilling his lifelong dream of wearing the Gold & Black colours of Amakhosi.' 'We are happy to finally have Asanele with us,' said Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. 'He is a great addition, and we believe he will add significant value because he is a perfect fit for our game model and the culture we have here at the Club.' Velebayi becomes the seventh signing after Ethan Chislett, Nkanyiso Shinga, Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, Flavio Silva and Siphesihle Ndlovu. So far, Chiefs have parted ways with Njabulo Blom, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Sabelo Radebe, Bongani Sam, Edmilson Dove, Edson Castillo, Yusuf Maart, Tebogo Potsane and Ranga Chivaviro Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211.
