Sanjay Dutt-starrer ‘The Bhootnii' to stream on ZEE5 from July 18
The film, which had a limited theatrical run earlier this year, will also have its television premiere on Zee Cinema at 8 pm on the same day, a press release said.
Mumbai, Jul 10 (PTI) Actor Sanjay Dutt's horror-comedy 'The Bhootnii' is set to make its digital premiere on ZEE5 on July 18, the streamer announced on Thursday.
It also stars Mouni Roy as Mohabbat, a dangerously enchanting ghost, alongside Sunny Singh and Palak Tiwari as college students drawn into a supernatural mystery.
Written and directed by Sidhaant Sachdev, the movie is produced by Deepak Mukut of Soham Rockstar Entertainment and Dutt's Three Dimension Motion Pictures.
Dutt said he hoped the film finds its audience on streaming.
''The Bhootnii' was always meant to be a fun, quirky ride—a real clutter-breaker. Unfortunately, it didn't get enough screens during its theatrical release. But this is a film made with a lot of love and care. We truly believed in the story and the heart behind it,' he said.
Set in the haunted grounds of St. Vincent's College, Delhi, where an old ghost and a cursed tree wreak havoc every Valentine's Day, 'Bhootnii' follows heartbroken student Shantanu (Singh), who accidentally awakens Mohabbat, a seductive ghost with a tragic backstory and a deadly obsession.
'As hallucinations, hauntings, and mysterious deaths plague the campus, the eccentric Baba (Dutt) enters the scene with his paranormal toolkit and a puzzling past,' the official logline read. PTI RB RB

PVR INOX banks on good movie releases, OTT fatigue for profitability: MD Ajay Bijli
Cinema exhibitor PVR INOX is looking to build on the momentum of a strong first quarter, tapping new good movie releases and consumer fatigue with OTT as it seeks to return to profitability , according to its Managing Director Ajay Bijli . Having recorded a 12 per cent year-on-year growth in people visiting the company's cinemas at 3.4 crore in the first quarter of this fiscal, despite a subdued April, the business has bounced back, Bijli told PTI. "We are obviously very happy that business has bounced back. We've always been very confident about the fact that Indian consumers will always consider going out and watching movies on the big screen as the number one form of entertainment," he noted. Watching movies on the big screen will coexist with all the other formats of consuming content, Bijli added. Asked when the company expects to be in the black, Bijli said, "Normally, I don't give any all I can say is that the momentum is there, and all the movies that are coming up are in the public domain". July has started very well with movies, such as Saiyaara, Superman, Jurassic Park: Rebirth, F1 Fantastic Four: First Steps and Mahavtar Narsimha, he said, adding that two big movies -- Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie and War 2 , which is a strong franchise, are already lined up for August 14 release. "People already know that there's a huge August 15 the lineup at least gives us the confidence and people's behaviour to come out, (after) getting a little bit of fatigue factor from OTT -- it is giving us an indication that occupancies will only improve from here on," Bijli said without sharing guidance on the timelines for profitability. In the first quarter of 2025-26, PVR INOX reported a narrowing of consolidated loss after tax to Rs 54.5 crore, mainly due to good content movies driving up footfall and revenue growth. It had posted a consolidated loss after tax of Rs 179 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal. Its consolidated revenue from operations in the first quarter stood at Rs 1,469.1 crore compared to Rs 1,190.7 crore in the year-ago period. "What we need to do is make sure that we are delivering a great offering to the consumer when they come out, and just rely on the content makers to continue to make movies which connect with the audience," Bijli said.

Kap's Cafe attack: Kapil Sharma's security beefed up; move after Lawrence Bishnoi gang takes responsibility
NEW DELHI: Comedian Kapil Sharma's security has been beefed up by the Mumbai Police after firing at his restaurant in Canada, PTI reported citing an official on Monday. His restaurant Kap's Cafe, in Surrey, was targeted last week and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility for the incident. The statement by a gang member said that the attack came because of Kapil's alleged proximity with actor Salman Khan. "If anyone works with Salman, whether a small-time actor or a small-time director, we will not spare them. We will kill them. We will go to any extent necessary to kill them," an audio clip of Harry Boxer, a Bishnoi aide said. This marked the second shooting at the café in a month. A man, on July 9, wearing a body camera opened fire at Kap's Café while recording the incident, with Germany-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) militant Harjeet Singh Laddi later claiming responsibility. The Bishnoi gang has targeted Khan for years, firing at his Galaxy Apartment last year and allegedly killing his friend, former state minister Siddique, in Bandra on October 12, 2024. Gang members also scouted Khan's Panvel farmhouse for an attack, but the plot did not materialize.
