Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor ( pic ) said the people-first initiatives reflect the Madani Government's commitment to the rakyat 's well-being. He highlighted the RM100 one-off cash aid for all adult Malaysians and the extension of Rahmah Madani sales to every state constituency as timely support. Hajiji also praised the plan to lower Ron95 petrol to RM1.99 per litre via targeted subsidies, expected to benefit over 18 million Malaysians. Ministry approves new site for 188-year-old Sung Siew

SANDAKAN: The Education Ministry approved the relocation of the 118-year-old Sekolah Menengah Sung Siew here to a new 25-acre site at Batu 4 near Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Sung Siew. The approval letter was handed over during a ceremony at the school on Saturday, witnessed by Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh during his official working visit here. Also present were Sandakan MP Vivian Wong Shir Yee, Sandakan District Education Officer Roslin Siabok, school principal Kwok Chee Yen, SM Sung Siew School Board Chairman Vun Soon Chong and representatives from the Sabah Education Department and alumni. The Ministry granted the approval on June 25, following a request submitted four years ago by the school, Sandakan District Education Office and Sabah Education Department. Kah Woh hopes the relocation approval would expedite the construction process. The current school, built on 2.24 acres owned by the Basel Christian Church Malaysia, would move to the new site at Batu 4, where Sung Siew's primary and preschool sections have already been operating for several years after relocating there. 'Over 80 per cent of students live near Batu 4 residential areas which was a key factor in the decision. Our priority is to provide the best educational access for all students here,' he said. Meanwhile, Vun Soon Chong thanked the Ministry, the Sabah Education Department and the District Education Office for the approval, adding that the school board, parents and staff had been actively fundraising for the new campus through charity events and marathons. Earlier, Kah Woh visited SK Sri Tanjung Papat I and SK Sri Tanjung Papat II in Kampung Sim-Sim, which currently share premises after the latter was destroyed by tidal waves in 2018. Following discussions with parents, the Ministry would seek a new site for SK Sri Tanjung Papat II to accommodate the growing number of students. The Deputy Minister also inspected SK St Mary Town and SK St Mary Labuk, where the Ministry has allocated RM185,000 for upgrading works, including a new canteen. No registration for RM100 cash aid, beware of scams, warns govt
Deputy finance minister Lim Hui Ying said the ministry has received complaints about fake links and messages claiming that registration is required to receive the cash aid. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : The government has urged the public to be cautious of scams and other fraud attempts over the one-off RM100 cash assistance under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA). Speaking at an event in George Town, Penang, today, deputy finance minister Lim Hui Ying said the assistance does not require any application or registration whatsoever, Bernama reported. She said the amount will be credited directly into the MyKad of all Malaysians aged 18 and above starting Aug 31. 'We have received numerous inquiries about how to register for the RM100 SARA assistance. There have also been complaints about fake links and messages claiming that registration is required to receive the aid. 'These claims are false and dangerous. Do not click on any such links, they are scams. 'I want to stress that there is no need to apply or register for the RM100 cash aid, as it will be automatically credited to the recipients' MyKad,' she said. Lim, who is the MP for Tanjung, reassured the public that there is no cause for concern as everyone aged 18 and above will receive the cash aid. 'Only if they do not receive it after Aug 31 will we take further action and inform them accordingly,' she said. On July 23, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced several major initiatives by the government, including the one-off RM100 cash aid, the postponement of toll rate hikes on 10 highways, and a drop in the price of RON95 fuel to RM1.99 per litre. Lim also said the government is open to considering the inclusion of wet goods such as chicken, meat and fish under SARA. 'We continue to listen to feedback and suggestions regarding the list of items under SARA. There have been proposals to include wet items such as fish, meat and chicken. We will consider expanding the list when the time is right,' she told reporters. She said the government expanded the SARA initiative on May 1 to include household cleaning products, such as laundry detergent and dishwashing liquid. These are in addition to the existing categories covering basic food items, medicines, school supplies, and personal hygiene products. Their inclusion increased the number of product categories from 13 to 14, covering 90,000 types of goods. This decision was based on feedback received during the implementation of SARA earlier this year, she said.
