Jason Reitman exits 'I'm Glad My Mom Died' series over creative differences with Jennette McCurdy
Jennifer Aniston's upcoming Apple TV+ limited series I'm Glad My Mom Died, based on Jennette McCurdy's bestselling memoir, is now at risk of being put on hold indefinitely after director Jason Reitman unexpectedly exited the project. Photo: AFP Reitman, known for Juno and Up in the Air, reportedly left following creative disagreements with McCurdy, who also serves as showrunner. The 10-episode drama-comedy is produced by Aniston who is set to portray Debra McCurdy, Jennette's late mother. Despite being backed by a strong production team, including Margot Robbie, Jerrod Carmichael, and Sharon Horgan, producers now have just two weeks to secure a new director. Sources told Puck that Reitman's departure followed a dispute that turned 'disrespectful,' as he aimed for a more comedic tone than McCurdy found appropriate. Although the memoir includes humour, it primarily deals with serious issues, including McCurdy's abuse allegations against her mother and former Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider. McCurdy's book, released in 2022, quickly topped the New York Times bestsellers list and gained widespread attention for its honest depiction of childhood trauma and industry exploitation.

Trump criticizes Gayle King amid report of CBS career uncertainty
POTUS Donald Trump has taken aim at CBS anchor Gayle King, reacting to a report suggesting that her future at the network may be uncertain. In a post on Truth Social, Trump shared a New York Post article that described King's position at CBS as 'murky,' citing falling ratings for CBS Mornings and growing concerns over political bias at the network. 'Gayle King's career is over,' Trump wrote in the August 5 post. 'She should have stayed with her belief in TRUMP. She never had the courage to do so. No talent, no ratings, no strength!!' According to the Post report, CBS is facing internal challenges as the new ownership seeks to steer away from what it views as politically divisive content. Sources quoted in the article claimed that King is part of a culture at CBS that resists those changes. King, one of CBS' most recognizable figures, has not publicly responded to the claims. Variety has reported that CBS representatives were contacted for comment, but have yet to issue a statement. Trump's remarks are the latest in his ongoing criticism of CBS. Earlier this year, he sued CBS' parent company, Paramount Global, for $10 billion, claiming a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris was deceptively edited. Although legal experts suggested his case lacked strong merit, Paramount reportedly paid Trump a $16 million settlement in May, amid its pending merger with Skydance Media. Trump also recently celebrated the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In a July 29 post, he claimed he was not solely responsible for the decision, but called Colbert's departure inevitable due to high production costs and what he described as a 'pure lack of talent.' He further predicted that late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon would be next to lose their shows, labeling them 'less talented' and 'very insecure.' Trump has used his Truth Social platform in recent months to criticize media figures and networks he perceives as politically opposed to him.

Kelly Ripa reveals why husband Mark Consuelos was hesitant to Co-Host Live
Kelly Ripa is opening up about what it's really like working with her husband, Mark Consuelos, on Live With Kelly and Mark — and why he initially resisted taking the job. During a July 31 appearance on Kylie Kelce's Not Gonna Lie podcast, Ripa, 53, shared that while she and Consuelos, 53, have decades of experience working together — dating back to their time on All My Children — co-hosting a daily talk show wasn't something he immediately embraced. 'We were used to working together,' Ripa said, recalling that Consuelos had filled in as a guest host more than 100 times before becoming permanent co-host in April 2023, following Ryan Seacrest's departure. 'He was always there, especially during the COVID year. So, he made sense to take over — we just had to make it make sense for him.' Ripa explained that Consuelos was hesitant at first because he viewed guest hosting as a fun, occasional gig. 'He's like, 'No, it's fun to do once in a while, because it's only once in a while,'' she recalled. However, Ripa encouraged him, pointing out the show's short taping schedule and the flexibility it allows. 'It's so much easier than doing a soap,' she added. Despite working together on-air, Ripa said the couple maintains a healthy level of space in their marriage. 'We don't see each other again until dinner,' she shared. 'We need some separation. We need some mystery between us.' Ripa also joked about on-air spats, saying, 'We have arguments on the air… the audience becomes our counselors. Spoiler alert: I'm usually right.' While Consuelos appeared on the July 28 episode of Live, he has been away from the show this week due to filming commitments in Los Angeles, with celebrity guest co-hosts stepping in during his absence.
