Planned by celebrity wedding planner Vandana Mohan, the wedding used an estimated 50,000 kg of flowers imported from Thailand, Kolkata, and The Netherlands, 65,000 metres of fabric, and had 14 hospitality desks running across hotels.
Among the guests? Naomi Campbell, Prince Nikolaos of Greece, Lakshmi Mittal, Manmohan Singh, and even former US President Bill Clinton, who was welcomed with a red carpet at the Sheraton Hotel in New Delhi.
A masked ball named Fantasia on a private island, a lavish pool party in a 1760s Udaipur fort, and traditional Sikh wedding rituals under an off-white tent, every detail was tailored for opulence. A Discovery Channel documentary even captured the spectacle.
And yet, like many such high-profile stories, this one too came with its share of unraveling.
A Marriage That Looked Perfect Until It Wasn't
In a candid appearance on the YouTube show Kin and Kindness, Priya opened up about the cracks in her first marriage. She described Vikram as someone who 'ticked all the boxes" a Wharton graduate who worked at Morgan Stanley. Priya herself held degrees from UCLA and LSE.
'It looked perfect on paper," she reflected. But that illusion began to crumble just weeks into her pregnancy with their daughter, Safira. 'By the time I was 15-20 weeks pregnant, I knew the marriage wasn't right. But I still tried to make it work," she said. The couple divorced in 2011.
Priya later revealed that despite her efforts, she didn't feel 'valued or appreciated." Her former in-laws, she shared, even apologized to her years later.
A New Chapter with Sunjay Kapur
After her divorce from Vikram, Priya eventually found companionship with Sunjay Kapur. The couple married in 2017 and soon welcomed their son, Azarius. Sunjay also formally adopted Safira, Priya's daughter from her first marriage, making them a close-knit family of four.
But with Sunjay's untimely passing, that bond now stands at the epicenter of a bitter inheritance battle.
The Kapur Succession Crisis
The unexpected death of Sunjay Kapur has triggered a multi-party legal and emotional tug-of-war over the family fortune, reportedly estimated at over ₹30,000 crore.

If Sunjay's adoption of Safira is legally binding, she may be entitled to inheritance from the Kapur estate, relinquishing any future claim to the Chatwal legacy.
