Netflix viewers hail true war film as 'best movie' ever made with 10/10 rating
Netflix viewers have been blown away by a true war movie - and say every subscriber needs to add it to their watch list immediately. Film buff Eccy Reviews has taken to social media to spread word about the movie, which can easily 'get lost' within all the other titles on the streaming service.
He claims the movie Hacksaw Ridge, starring Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, and Luke Bracey, will leave you "absolutely speechless". Directed by Mel Gibson and written by Robert Schenkkan and Andrew Knight, the 2016 movie has won 57 awards including two Oscars and 115 nominations in total.
It's plot on IMDb reads: "World War II American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, serving during the Battle of Okinawa, refuses to kill people and becomes the first man in American history to receive the Medal of Honour without firing a shot."
Eccy Reviews said: "This is one of the most incredible war stories that you will ever see. It follows a young man named Desmond, who when he was young, he almost killed his own brother.
"He vows to never hurt anybody ever again. When he is called upon to go to war to fight for his country, he says that he will not touch a weapon and enters in as a combat medic.
"What this guy achieves and what he does is genuinely heroic - and I promise you that this will bring tears to your eyes. Please do not miss out on this film."
Commenting on his video, one user said: "Hacksaw Ridge is one of the best films I've ever seen."
Another user added: "Hacksaw Ride is amazing, watched it many times."
A third user said: "Hacksaw Ridge is a brilliant film! Watching it again the day it came onto Netflix."
Rating the movie a 1/10 on IMDb, one user said: "I watched it with zero expectations as I don't watch that many war movies.
"This one had 8.1 IMDb and the hero is Andrew Garfield, so I gave it a shot.. Five minutes into the movie, I was so intrigued.
"The love story felt so intimate even I smiled when they kissed.. then comes the real movie.. man, this is the best war movie I've watched so far. Hands down, it felt like I was in a real war.
"The scenes are really brutal and shows the actual things that happen in a war field - the gory makeups, the filmmaking quality, shots, music everything was at point.
"Definitely a great movie. I was so entertained until the end and you know what? I felt like wanna scream at the end when it said directed by Mel Gibson.
"I didn't know it was his masterwork until the credit. Midway through the movie, I was wondering who the director was because of how good it's made.
"I recommend this to everyone, not particularly to war movie fans but to everyone."

Sir Elton John, 78, seen in rare photo with David Walliams
Sir Elton John is officially living his best life during retirement (would we expect anything less?) as he celebrated on Sunday by dancing and partying alongside David Walliams. The 78-year-old singer-songwriter extraordinaire retired in 2023 after a stellar career that saw him sell millions upon millions of records worldwide. The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour ran for five years either side of the Covid-19 pandemic as thousands flocked to see the Your Song hitmaker at arenas every night. Since then, Sir Elton has been spending time with his partner David Furnish and their two songs, and threatening to take the government to court – among other things. And over the weekend he was spotted partying it up on the beautiful south coast in France – and he was accompanied by a rather famous friend during his sunny getaway. Sir Elton was joined by David Walliams as the pair spent a sun-kissed evening at La Guérite restaurant on Sunday, with pictures and videos posted to David's Instagram. In a video uploaded to Instagram, David was spotted grooving the night away to Whitney Houston's 1987 hit I Wanna Dance With Somebody, inviting Sir Elton to join in. While Sir Elton stayed seated as David gyrated and placed his hands on Sir Elton's shoulders, the Sacrifice singer did sing along to Houston's words with a smile on his face. Helen Flinn commented, saying, 'One singer, one dancer, whoop whoop perfect partnership yeah,' while Carol Brears celebrated, 'Fantastic – better than being sat there all serious and boring'. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Joking about the free-spiritedness and enjoyment exhibited by Sir Elton and David during the impromptu routine, Hedy Fletcher joked 'And that's you guys on water!' Some of David's other followers noticed that the other patrons at the restaurant, which sits on the Ile Sainte-Marguerite just off the coast of Cannes, appeared to have no idea who they were sitting next to. Nicky Veitch laughed, saying 'People in that restaurant haven't got a clue whose sitting at that table,' while added, 'The girl behind wondering 'Is it him, is it Elton?'' And fans of Netflix series Heartstopper also spotted show stars Kit Connor and Tobie Donovan joining in the dance, with David uploading a snap alongside the two actors and their Heartstopper co-star Joe Locke. More Trending It's not known if Sir Elton, David, and the Heartstopper stars were all on the same holiday or if they'd just bumped into each other, but they made sure to have the best time anyway. La Guérite has hosted many celebrities and other famous faces down the years, with the exclusive eatery only accessible from the mainland by yacht. It's not the first time Sir Elton has been spotted dining there, with other Hollywood and showbiz legends also journeying to the remote restaurant for some fancy grub. Beyoncé and Jay Z, the Beckham family, the Kardashian clan, and Leonardo DiCaprio are just some of the huge names who've spent an evening at the Mediterranean hotspot. Got a story?
