AI will enable police to render quick services and check crime, says A.P. DGP
Speaking at the valedictory programme of three-day hackathon 'AI4AndhraPolice' at Guntur on Sunday, the DGP said that by using AI police will be able to render quick services and check crime as directed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
4SightAI Chief Executive Officer Surya Kotha, who partnered with A.P. police, in organising the hackathon said that there will be more opportunities for budding engineers in AI sector in the future.
Many IPS officers, AI experts, startup companies, researchers and students discussed topics on tracking criminals, monitoring data, preventing cybercrimes, online frauds and detecting cases using AI.
Projects on Petition Management System, mentored by Vizianagaram district Superintendent of Police (SP) Vakul Jindal, Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) CoPilot Engine, mentored by Bapatla SP Tushar Dudi, and Investigation of IT Cases, mentored by APSP DIG Fakeerappa Kaginelli, won first, second and third prizes respectively in the hackathon.
Prakasam district SP A.R. Damodar said the AI hackathon will help the investigation officers to check crimes. Eluru district SP K. Pratap Shiva Kishore said petition monitoring and solving of cases will become easier through AI.
Students of various education institutions, who attended the programme, thanked the police for conducting the programme.

Prime locations in Yadgir come under CCTV camera surveillance
Vehicular drivers should now think twice before violating traffic rules knowingly or unknowingly while driving vehicles as prime locations in Yadgir city have come under Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera surveillance. As many as 84 CCTV cameras have been installed at prime locations, including traffic circles, bus terminus, near railway stations, Deputy Commissioner's office and highways which pass through the city to catch activities against the law, including traffic rule violations. MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur, who inaugurated the CCTV camera operations on Saturday, also set up a control room in the Town Police Station in the old city. 'The installation of 84 CCTV cameras was carried out at a cost of ₹70.70 lakh, which includes ₹53.30 lakh from the MLA's Local Area Development Fund and ₹17.40 lakh from the district in-charge Minister's grant,' Mr. Tunnur said, after the inauguration and appealed to citizens to obey traffic rules. The city is now seeing extensive development. Business establishments, schools, colleges and bankers have established their branches, while thousands of people are visiting the district headquarters every day for their routine work. And, the requirement of CCTV cameras in public places has been on par with the development of the city, for a long time. 'CCTV cameras not only help catch traffic rule violators but also assist the police to check crime and arrest criminals involved in such incidents,' Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar said and added that notice will be issued against the traffic rule violators based on visuals captured in the CCTV cameras. Every technology is now modified with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) advancements. 'These cameras are also made with advanced AI technology and it will help bring technical discipline in the system and also among the public,' Deputy Commissioner Harshal Bhoyar said. Praising the initiative, CMC chairperson Lalita Anapur requested Mr. Tunnur to release more grants under the MLA Local Area Development Fund to install CCTV cameras at entrances of thickly populated localities and also inside areas within CMC limits to prevent illegal activities. Digital trail under scanner after Dharmavaram man's arrest for extremist links, says SP
Confirming Saturday's arrest in Dharmavaram town of Sri Sathya Sai district, Superintendent of Police V. Ratna on Sunday (August 17) briefed the media here, attesting that 42-year-old Kotwal Noor Mohammad, residing in the town for 15 years, was actively connected to the Pakistan-backed social media groups, circulating jihadi propaganda. The SP, along with Deputy SP (Dharmavaram) U. Narasingappa, disclosed that Noor Mohammad was initially thought to be a passive member, but he turned out to be an active participant in discussions intended to glorify extremist ideology. She said that the police seized the accused's mobile phone and some literature linked to the jihadi campaign in Saturday's predawn raid. 'This Dharmavaram incident is a clear proof as to how social media platforms are being mishandled and misused to negatively impact youth and gullible minds at the local level by the terrorist groups,' the SP said. Although Noor Mohammad was held on Saturday (August 16), the real investigation 'has begun now,' Ms. Ratna said, adding that the seized mobile had been sent to forensic laboratories to unravel his 'digital footprint' to map his network. She did not rule out the possibility that the accused might have acted as a recruiter or sympathiser beyond the Sri Sathya Sai district. The SP said that the case was booked under the stringent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Immediately after the arrest, Noor Mohammad was produced before the Kadiri court in the district and was shifted to the Kadapa Central Prison on a 14-day remand. 'We are waiting for the forensic revelations which will expose the depth of his involvement in the cross-border terrorism activities,' the SP said.

Minister for Home, DGP perform ‘Bhoomi Pooja' for new Nakkapalli police station
Minister for Home V. Anitha, along with Director General of Police Harish Gupta, performed 'Bhoomi Pooja' for a new police station building in Nakkapalli in Anakapalli district on Sunday (August 17). They were accompanied by Visakhapatnam Range DIG Gopinath Jatti, Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha and other senior officials. The new building is being constructed with CSR funding from the Hetero Group. Speaking during the programme, the Minister highlighted the rapid industrial growth in the region, with major investments such as the ArcelorMittal Steel Plant and the Bulk Drug Park. She said Nakkapalli is poised to become a major industrial hub in the near future and it is necessary to have a well-equipped police station to ensure safety and law enforcement readiness. She emphasised that under the NDA government, the Police department has received support in terms of infrastructure, basic amenities and technology. She also announced that the department will be receiving new vehicles next month. Ms. Anitha reiterated that the NDA government had created 'Eagle' to combat the ganja trade, and the launch of the 'Shakti app' to support women in distress. She also stated that the Police department is increasingly adopting technology with extensive installation of CCTV cameras across the State. DGP Harish Kumar Gupta expressed gratitude to Hetero Group chairman Bandi Parthasarathi Reddy for supporting the construction of the new police station. He pinned hope that the new facility would be equipped with state-of-the-art amenities. District SP Tuhin Sinha added that the existing, outdated police quarters at the site are being demolished to make way for a modern and model police station designed to meet the growing needs of the area in line with its industrial development.
