Bengaluru stampede: Karnataka revokes suspension of four police officers
The four officers are former Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Shekhar H Tekkannavar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Cubbon Park Division) C Balakrishna and Cubbon Park Police Station Inspector AK Girish, Deccan Herald reported.
While the officers have been reinstated with immediate effect, their new postings are not yet clear.

A fifth official, the former Bengaluru Additional Commissioner of Police Vikash Kumar Vikash of the Indian Police Services, remains suspended as his case is being heard in the Karnataka High Court. He was in charge of stadium security, Deccan Herald reported.
Vikash had approached the Central Administrative Tribunal to challenge his suspension. The CAT had quashed the suspension order, following which the state government filed an appeal before the High Court, where the case is pending.
The tribunal is a quasi-judicial body to resolve the grievances of government employees. It had held in its July 1 order that the basis for such a conclusion was unclear as the order suspending the police officer did not explain how it came to the finding before the inquiry was completed.
The stampede had taken place at Gate Number 3 of the stadium on June 4, where fans had gathered to celebrate the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's victory in the Indian Premier League. Eleven persons were killed and more than 50 were injured in the incident.

In the distant past, a tour of England featured additional warm-up games against the Counties. The length of the tour helped players rest and regain form. Modern-day players have no such luxuries as a cramped year-long schedule that packs in T20s such as the Indian Premier League, means that every overseas trip becomes a rushed affair. That Jasprit Bumrah could only play three Tests and even Stokes had to skip one at the end, is a reflection of how cricketers have no time to pause and remain injury prone. Seen in that light, Mohammed Siraj turning out for five Tests and bowling with verve and skill, is a huge testament of his fitness. India has much to cherish as Gill amassed 754 runs, and K.L. Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal excelled with the bat. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar offered depth in the batting order, even if the tail below wilted. The injury to Rishabh Pant was unfortunate but he is bound to return in a while. India missed Mohammed Shami and much hinged on the fiery Siraj, who with 23 wickets, stepped up even as his fellow seamers lost their radar at times. A team in transition is bound to have teething issues. However, through their rugged fight, these players offer hope for better days ahead.

Manipur to bolster policing with new Secretariat Police Stn
Imphal: In a bid to bolster effective policing, Manipur govt has approved the establishment of a new Secretariat Police Station at Mantripukhri and creation of 12 new sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) posts in both new and existing districts. According to a press communique issued here on Sunday night, the decision came after a proposal by Manipur Police Department, to enhance a strategic approach to improving security infrastructure amid growing administrative and operational demands especially with the imminent relocation of the state civil secretariat and police headquarters to Mantripukhri. The upcoming secretariat police station will cater not only to the secretariat and police headquarters, but also to several high-value institutions in the area, including the Manipur High Court, the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), and the Forest Office Complex. "The establishment of this police station is aimed at providing comprehensive law enforcement coverage in the new capital complex," a senior police officer said. Man held after four years in Mudra loan fraud case
Last Updated: Hyderabad, Aug 4 (PTI) A 34-year-old man, who allegedly cheated people on the pretext of arranging a Mudra loan after collecting money from them and was absconding since 2021, was apprehended, police said on Monday. The accused, who was involved in multiple fraud cases in Hyderabad, by falsely promising assistance in securing Mudra loan, collected money and documents from victims and absconded, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Commissioner's Task Force) YVS Sudheendra said in a release. The accused became acquainted with the Mudra loan process, after watching videos on a social media platform related to government financial schemes, police said.
