Love Island star Yasmin suffers heartbreak just days after leaving villa
Love Island's Yasmin Pettet has been dealt with heartbreak just days after leaving the villa. The reality star, 24, made it to the final of the latest series of the ITV2 reality dating show, and finished in third place with now-boyfriend Jamie Rhodes but just days after the programme drew to a close, she has revealed that her cat Miaow Miaow passed away while she was filming.
On Wednesday, she wrote on a black background on her Instagram story: "As I've spoken about her on the show I'm sure a lot of you will know I have a cat called miaow miaow who's been by my side for 11 years now. When I was filming Love Island I had a bad gut feeling something was off and when my mum and sister came into the villa I asked them and still felt like something was off."
Revealing that her family chose not to tell of her of the tragedy at the time and she was informed by her sister once filming had finished, she added: "Rightfully they didn't tell me because I was still in the villa but after the final I called my sister and she told me that miaow miaow had cancer and died whilst I was away filming Love Island." It comes after Love Island fans fume as third place couple announced as Yas and Jamie.
The commercial banking executive assured her fans that she was trying to keep up with her social media as much as possible but also explained to her near-350,000 followers that she needs time to deal with the 'heartbreak' she has had to endure. She added: "I'm trying to be as active as I can on socials, but am taking time for myself to process this heartbreak., RIP to my beautiful baby girl, you were so loved and will always be in my soul."
Yasmin's feline friend had been mentioned several times during her time in the Love Island villa, and her fans flooded social media as they sent her their sympathy. Many had been moved to tears by the news, and one admitted: "Yasmin sharing the news that her cat passed away whilst in the villa is actually the most gut-wrenching thing I could imagine and my heart is breaking for her imagine being so excited to see her miaow miaow and her baby isn't there anymore."
Clearly shocked at the news after the cat had been a topic of conversation during the Meet the Family segment on the show, one said: "I'm crying cos she straight away asked her mum and sister how Miaow miaow was when they visited the villa and they had to lieeeeeeeee," whilst another viewer said: "Nooo Yasmins cat Miaow Miaow died while she was in the villa and she was talking about how excited she was for Jamie to meet her." Another fan wrote: "Not the icon miaow miaow passing away. It was Yasmin's cat from love island that died while she was in the villa."
Despite the sad news, Yasmin's first post upon exiting the villa spoke of her positive experience on the show, and she thanked some of her co-stars throughout her time in the competition. She wrote: "My love island journey has been crazy to say the least but I really wouldn't have been able to do it without my Jamie, Toni and Shakira. I feel so grateful and blessed and can't wait to see what the future holds." When she and her significant other were announced as the third place couple, were not overly impressed that they had finished behind Harry and Shakira before Cach and Toni claimed the £50,000 prize.
One user said on X/ Twitter: "Not my winners third," while another person: "Harry sneaking to top 2 over yas and jamie someone hand me a gun." One disappointed fan commented: "I'm lowkey shocked yas and jamie are 3rd."
"Yas and Jamie 3rd place???? Can the UK do anything right," one said and one posted: "I wasn't expecting yas and jamie as 3rd actually." Meanwhile, Angel and Ty were announced as the fourth place couple. The two are now 'exclusive', with Ty said: "It's definitely going in the right direction," before adding he was looking forward to the outside world with her.

Gladiators star Steel reveals delicate medical procedure contributed to newborn son Leo's death

Leo tragically died in April, aged just 13 days, after being born prematurely at 23 weeks. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 3 Zack and Samantha George's son Leo died in April Credit: Instagram 3 Leo's parents were proud of the strength he showed Credit: Instagram / @zackgeorge TV star Zack, 35, who is better known as Steel, told the Mirror how Leo was born "really strong", before things took a downward turn two days into his life. Initially, Leo was placed on a ventilator, but after responding well he was taken off it and provided with CPAP, a non-invasive way of keeping airways open. However, when he was retubed after six hours, it is believed accidental damage was done to his windpipe. As well as suffering from brain bleeds, a hole in the heart and collapsing lungs, air pockets began to form around his lungs. Zack said: "Around the tenth day they started getting a bit bigger. They came to the conclusion that when they tubed him, either the first or the second time, they created a hole in his windpipe. It's no one's fault, a baby that young is really fragile, it's just a risk. 'That was really hard, because if it hadn't happened, he would probably still be here. A 23-week-old baby has so much to do. Overnight, he got quite bad, that's when we went in and he passed away.' The couple decided against giving Leo CPR having already witnessed him go through so much. Zack announced Leo's tragic death with a heartbreaking picture of he and Samantha holding him. He wrote on Instagram: "Your mummy brought you into this world and your daddy held you as you left. "Leo…… you showed us what the true definition of strength is and we are so proud of you. Gladiator star Steel's emotional final message to son Leo just hours after he died at 13 days old "You brought so much positivity to the world with the short time you were with us and we felt that positivity in abundance, we thank you all so much for that." He continued: "Although you were only with us for a short time, you brought us a lifetime of love. Thank you for letting us know that YOU had had enough of this fight. We will forever be grateful that we didn't have to make that decision for you." "Leo our lion, we love you more than you will ever know. "Rest easy our little boy." Zack's Gladiators co-stars sent their heartfelt tributes. Strictly star Montell Douglas, known as Fire, shared a message which read: "RIP baby Leo. Thoughts and prayers are with you both." Ella-Mae Rayner, known as Comet, shared: "Cannot even begin to imagine what you must be going through. Sending you both all the love and strength in the world. We are all here for you." Jodie Ounsley, Fury, wrote: "My heart genuinely breaks for you both, sending big hugs." Alex Gray, known as Apollo, shared hearts and Jade Packer (Electro) said: "Leo, sending so much love & light." The couple, who also have a daughter called Ivy, laid Leo to rest in May. Princess and Junior Andre hit back at 'nepo baby' label as they launch new ITV2 reality show: 'This is our own career'
Princess and Junior Andre have shrugged off being called ' nepo babies ' as they launched Princess's brand new ITV2 reality series, insisting they're working hard to make it on their own. The rising star, 18, daughter of Katie Price and Peter Andre, has landed her first solo TV project, with cameras following her rise in the lucrative influencer world. Speaking at the glitzy ITV launch, Princess admitted that under the true definition of a 'nepo baby' the term applies, but said the focus should be on how she has built her own career over the past two years. The rising star has already inked big-money deals with brands including Morphe and Superdrug, cementing her status as a celebrity in her own right. She added that the new series will give fans an unfiltered look into her life, away from her famous parents. Speaking to The News Movement she said: 'Well obviously if you're using the actual terms of a 'nepo baby' then yeah, but we are focusing on ourselves. 'This is our own career and I feel like within the last two years I've built myself as a solo person, so this is a good time to for the show to come in as it actually shows what goes on in my life, without my parents.' Big brother Junior, 19, added that it's 'natural' for people to compare them to their superstar mum and dad but stressed that their success will come down to hard work and carving their own paths. He said: 'Yeah I mean, obviously we're gonna be compared to our parents, they've done amazing things, that's where we come from. 'It's inevitable - anyone would be compared to their parents, so you know that's natural. 'But what we're doing is focusing on ourselves and really driving and pushing our own careers and working hard. For us to succeed we have to put in the work for it.' When quizzed on what they would do differently - and what they'd do the same - as their famous parents, Junior said he was grateful for the way they'd been brought up, describing them both as polite, kind and 'normal people'. He added that some might assume otherwise, but the new show would prove they are just regular young adults navigating life like everyone else. With the show launching on Sunday, Princess and Junior appeared on ITV to promote the new reality series. Big brother Junior, 19, added that it's 'natural' for people to compare them to their superstar mum and dad but stressed that their success will come down to hard work and carving their own paths She teased what fans can expect from the fly-on-the-wall show saying: 'I'm really excited, it has been very intense filming but I can't wait for everyone to watch it. 'You see my everyday life and what I do. You see my grown confidence, my family, it's really fun. 'I feel like a lot of people base assumptions from what they see online but this will give people a proper insight.' It comes after mum Katie condemned the new show as she broke her silence on reports of a 'feud' between the pair. View this post on Instagram A post shared by The News Movement (@thenewsmovement) In her new fly-on-the-wall series, titled The Princess Diaries, the teenager addresses the traumatic memories from her glamour model mum's divorce from Mysterious Girl singer Pete and her other breakups Katie will not feature in the show after claiming she was banned from taking part by producers but stressed that she does not have an issue with her daughter In her latest episode of The Katie Price Show, the mother-of-five insisted her issue was not with Princess but in fact her daughter's management - who also work with her ex-husband Peter Andre. Calling Princess her 'best friend' on Thursday, Katie, 46, said that she fell out with the management team when she split from Peter, explaining: 'I always said over my dead body would I ever want her to manage my kids because she doesn't like me and Pete and I don't talk. 'I was very, very, very upset that Princess signed with them when she was 16', she said ahead of Princess' show. An ITV2 spokesman has since claims the channel didn't want Katie involved in her daughter's show.
