In a dramatic arrest, police in the Fezile Dabi district arrested a 38-yearold.
This comes after police acted upon intelligence information about a suspect selling drugs in the area.
When police ambushed the dealer, he tried to flee the scene but was later apprehended. Fezile Dabi police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani confirmed the arrest.
'On June 11, our officers arrested a suspect for possession of drugs. This follows a tip-off on Tuesday about the said dealer, who is now behind bars.'
'During the search, the suspect was found in possession of nine packets of crystal meth and six brown tablets (Mandrax),' said Rani.
The police mouthpiece said the suspect was arrested and charged with possession of drugs, and the drugs were confiscated.
'The suspect appeared before the Parys Magistrate's Court soon on charges of possession of drugs,' she said.

SASOLBURG – A couple aged 20 and 25 was arrested in Sasolburg on August 12 for selling Painagon cough syrup and Mylan Alprazolam tablets without a license. According to Fezile Dabi District police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani, their detectives received information about the duo selling schedule five substances at a house in Sasolburg. 'Upon searching the house, the members discovered 58 full bottles of Painagon cough syrup and 22 Mylan Alprazolam 1.0mg full containers of tablets,' she said. Rani said the couple was arrested on the spot, and the substances were confiscated. 'They will appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate's Court soon on charges of selling schedule 5 substances without a license and selling schedule 5 substances other than at a chemist,' she said.

The Metro Police said members of the Metro Police Drug Team and Trio Crimes Unit carried out an 'intelligence-driven operation' at an identified target's premises under an authorised search warrant. 'A primary drug supplier was arrested and taken to Chatsworth SAPS on charges of dealing and possession of Mandrax, crack cocaine, and dagga.' The operation resulted in the seizure of 58 pieces of crack cocaine, 110 Mandrax tablets, and 36 containers of dagga, with an estimated value of R13 100. Units involved included Counter Narcotics KZN, the Metro Drug Team, the Metro Trio Team, Chatsworth Metro Police (AO teams), and the Chatsworth Detective Tracing Team. Issuing a warning to those involved in the drug trade, the Durban Metro Police stated: 'Durban Metro Police will continue conducting intelligence-led operations with zero tolerance for narcotics. 'Our team, working together with the Chatsworth Detectives Tracing Team, proceeded to the location and recovered a bag containing: 164 bags of crystal meth; 140 pieces of Mandrax; 100 cones of cocaine; and 10.69 grams of Cat.'
