Livvy Dunne's boyfriend Paul Skenes reveals shock career plan once he's quit baseball

Pirates star Paul Skenes has revealed a surprising career plan for when his playing days are over.
The reigning NL Rookie of the Year, who is dating former LSU gymnastics star Livvy Dunne, has quickly established himself as one of the best pitchers in the league.
But he hilariously shared with a reporter on Tuesday that he would 'love to cut grass professionally' in the future.
Skenes was snapped by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Noah Hiles talking with the Pirates grounds crew, with the reporter saying Skenes had been 'chopping it up with the boys for a good 15-20 minutes.'
The pitcher later told Hiles that he was out there because he was 'bored,' before sharing his desire to one day cut grass for a living.
For now, Skenes is thriving on the diamond as he's putting together another strong season for the struggling Pirates.

Skenes is one of the best pitchers in the sport and will make millions in MLB before retiring
Despite the team's 38-50 record, Skenes is pitching a 2.03 ERA with 115 strikeouts thus far this season.
In fact, his ERA over his 41 career games is an even-better 1.99
Skenes is making $875,000 this year, though that number is expected to balloon once he negotiates his first long-term contract.
Previously, ESPN's MLB insider Jeff Passan claimed there was a 'real argument' for the Pirates to trade Skenes at the deadline this year.
'The truth is, there will be teams that ask about Paul Skenes at the deadline this year, and I don't anticipate that he's going to be moved,' Passan began on the Pat McAfee Show.
'But there's a real argument to be made that the best thing for the Pittsburgh Pirates would be to move Paul Skenes while he has the most value.'
Passan went on to claim that the famously stingy Pirates - who have the third-lowest payroll in the league this season - were not currently 'worthy' of getting Skenes to sign an extension.
'It's not just Paul Skenes who deserves better,' Passan continued. 'It's Pittsburgh Pirates fans who deserve better, and they deserve a system that allows teams to keep great players.
'Now in some cases, guys will stay with small market teams, we've seen that... But what incentive does Paul Skenes have to extend with the Pirates when the Pirates haven't shown the willingness – from either [owner] Bob Nutting all the way down – or the ability, to bring in guys who are going to make this team better? The Pirates haven't shown that they are worthy of a Paul Skenes extension at this point.'
However, Pirates GM Ben Cherington later said any such trade talk was 'not part of the conversation at all.'
The Pirates will face the Mariners on Friday after winning their last six games.

Pedro Neto could miss Chelsea quarter-final after death of Diogo Jota

Pedro Neto could miss Chelsea's Club World Cup quarter-final against Palmeiras following the death of his fellow Portugal international Diogo Jota. Liverpool forward Jota, who also played alongside Neto at Wolves, died on Thursday following a car crash in Spain. Neto did not train following the news and manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed he will be granted compassionate leave should he want it. The Blues face the Brazilian outfit on Friday evening (2am Saturday UK) at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Maresca said: 'It's a very sad day. I struggle to find words because it's very difficult, the feeling that you have is of helplessness in this kind of situation. 'The only thing I can say is all my love to his family, the people in this moment. It's a big tragedy for them. 'In terms of Pedro it is very sad, probably more than sad. 'It's completely Pedro's decision. I had a chat with Pedro and we support him. Any decision he will take is the correct one. 'It doesn't matter if he'll be on the pitch or not. We'll see how he is feeling but, in any case, we're going to support him.' The game could see Chelsea come up against the teenage Brazilian forward Estevao Willian, who is due to join them after the tournament. The highly-rated 18-year-old agreed a move to Stamford Bridge last year and the current competition in the United States is his final assignment with Palmeiras. Maresca said: 'When we prepare for games, we prepare thinking about the team, not the players that are on the other side, and we have done exactly the same in this game. 'We prepare for the game against Palmeiras, not against Estevao. In this moment he is a Palmeiras player. 'We don't care if in the future he will be with us when this competition is finished. The only thing we are focused on is doing our best to try to beat Palmeiras.' Chelsea have a fitness doubt over Romeo Lavia due to a muscular injury and fellow midfielder Moises Caicedo is suspended. Forward Joao Pedro could make his debut after completing his £60million move from Brighton earlier this week. Maresca said: 'Joao's situation is a bit strange or different because he was on holiday. Even if he was working it is not the same when you work for yourself, compared with when you work with the team. 'But we are very happy with Joao. In the last two days he worked with us. We'll see if we need him and if we have a chance to give him some minutes we're going to give him some minutes.'

Neto grieves Jota's death as Chelsea face Palmeiras in Club World Cup

PHILADELPHIA, July 3 (Reuters) - Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca confirmed on Thursday that forward Pedro Neto will decide whether to play in Friday's Club World Cup quarter-final against Palmeiras, as the Portuguese international mourns the tragic death of his close friend and team mate Diogo Jota. Jota, a Liverpool forward, and his brother were killed in a car accident in northwestern Spain on Thursday morning when their Lamborghini veered off the road and caught fire. Neto, deeply affected by the loss, was excused from training but chose to remain with the squad in Philadelphia. 'It's a difficult moment. You feel helpless,' Maresca said in a press conference. 'Pedro is more than sad, and we are all here to support him. Any decision he makes—whether to play or not—is the right one, and we will back him fully.' Neto's potential absence adds a layer of uncertainty for Chelsea, who are preparing to face a Palmeiras side featuring 18-year-old winger Estevao, a player set to join the Blues after the tournament. Estevao was signed last year for an initial 34 million euros, with add-ons potentially bringing the deal to 67 million, according to British media. The teenager admitted that the move has been an emotional distraction. 'It's been hard balancing the emotions of playing my final games for Palmeiras while also thinking about my future at Chelsea,' Estevao said earlier this week. However, Maresca dismissed suggestions that Estevao's impending transfer could influence Chelsea's preparations. 'When we prepare for games, we prepare for the team, not for one player,' Maresca said. 'Estevao is a Palmeiras player right now. I've never spoken to him, though I've met his family. Now is not the time to discuss the future.' The Chelsea manager also praised Brazilian football, emphasising his respect for the South American giants. 'I've always respected Brazilian football; I didn't need this competition to understand how good they are,' he said. 'Palmeiras have shown their quality and will continue to do so.' Chelsea face a significant challenge in Palmeiras, who advanced to the quarter-finals with a 1-0 extra-time win over Botafogo. With Neto's participation uncertain and Estevao looking to leave his mark before departing for London, the quarter-final promises to be a gripping encounter.

New managers making instant impact as Club World Cup quarter-finals take shape

PHILADELPHIA, July 3 (Reuters) - The expanded soccer Club World Cup is proving to be a stage for managerial fresh starts, with three of the eight quarter-finalists led by coaches appointed just weeks before the tournament – and all three have already stamped their authority on their new teams. Arguably none has made a bigger splash than Simone Inzaghi, who delivered one of the tournament's biggest shocks when his Al Hilal side stunned Pep Guardiola's Manchester City 4-3 in a breathtaking extra-time thriller. The 49-year-old Italian, who left Inter Milan after their Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain just five weeks ago, got sweet revenge on Monday against the Premier League giants who had beaten his Nerazzurri in the 2023 Champions League final. Inzaghi took the win by playing steady, rock-solid defence and exploring the speed of his forwards up-front with long balls that exploited their opponent's aggressive, high-positioned defensive line. Malcom and Marcos Leonardo were a constant menace on the counter-attack throughout the match, while his defenders managed to slow down City's star-powered attack for most of the game. And when they were threatened, Moroccan goalkeeper Bono worked his magic with a string of world-class saves to frustrate their opponents and keep the Saudis in the game. Al Hilal's reward is a quarter-final clash with tournament underdogs Fluminense, who defied the Opta supercomputer's odds of just 0.05% to win the title and stunned Champions League runners-up Inter Milan 2-0 to reach the last eight. Initially tipped to exit in the group stage, the Brazilian side's remarkable run continues under Renato Gaucho, a former Fluminense striker and club legend who took charge three months ago. Renato has transformed a team that narrowly avoided relegation in 2024 into genuine contenders, with Colombian winger Jhon Arias emerging as a potential tournament MVP. Against Inter, Fluminense showed the grit and determination that have defined their campaign with a remarkable Arias and striker German Cano once again making the difference. Real Madrid complete the trio of new-manager success stories, with Xabi Alonso arriving a month ago to replace Carlo Ancelotti after a rare trophy-less season that included four consecutive defeats to Barcelona, including a humiliating 4-0 Clasico thrashing at the Bernabeu. Arriving with a reputation for innovative tactics following his trophy-laden stint at Bayer Leverkusen, Alonso has started using a five-man defence, marking a significant departure from the traditional 4-3-3 formation used by predecessors Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane over the past decade. The change evoked memories of Vicente del Bosque's 2000 Champions League-winning side, the last Real Madrid team to adopt such a structure, as Real prepare to face Borussia Dortmund on Saturday off the back of three consecutive wins. As the tournament progresses, the early success of these new managerial appointments suggests that fresh ideas and bold decisions can reshape even the most storied teams.
