Black dandyism: Met Gala to highlight Black influence in fashion
Black dandys and clothiers are being celebrated with this year's Met Gala theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style."
The Kardashians are keeping up with the Met Gala.
Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner all turned out — and turned heads — for fashion's biggest night at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 5. Their outfits showed how the reality stars interpreted the evening's dress code, "Tailored for You," and its theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style."
The sisters arrived later in the evening, matching as a family in shades of black and gray.
This was the latest Met Gala for the Kardashian-Jenner clan. They previously stepped out at the 2024 event, which had a dress code of "The Garden of Time" and a theme of "Sleeping Beauties." That year, Kim Kardashian stunned in a floral Maison Margiela dress, while Kendall Jenner wore a sleek Givenchy Haute Couture item, and Kylie Jenner chose Oscar de la Renta.
Scroll through to see how the sisters stunned on the red carpet.
Kim Kardashian rocks low-rise leather skirt for 2025 Met Gala
Kardashian loves a painted-on look, and the 2025 Met Gala was no different. She donned a custom black two-piece leather outfit from Hollywood's own Chrome Hearts, effectively bringing her hometown of Los Angeles to the Big Apple.
The leather appeared to have a crocodile-like texture.
The bustier-style top complemented a floor-length skirt that featured a short train and was low-cut in the back. Because more is more, she styled it with a massive statement silver necklace and matching wide-brimmed leather hat. Her jewelry was from Moussaieff.
Kardashian is very familiar with sacrificing comfort for a fashion statement.
In an episode of "The Kardashians" that aired earlier this year, Kardashian recalled how she struggled to breathe in the tight dress she wore to the 2024 Met Gala. "I'm literally going to throw up," she said in footage from the evening. "I've never been more comfortable." Her mother, Kris Jenner, joked on the episode that she asked Kardashian, "Are you ever going to wear a dress to the Met where you actually can walk?"
But Kardashian remarked in an interview on the show, "If you look good, it is all worth it."
The Kardashians have attended the Met Gala many times, with Kim Kardashian having made her debut in 2013, when she was pregnant with daughter North West.
In 2022, Kardashian famously wore a dress once worn by Marilyn Monroe to the event, where she was joined by her then-boyfriend Pete Davidson. The following year, she wore a custom Schiaparelli ensemble for the 2023 Met Gala, whose theme honored late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld.
Kendall Jenner honors Harlem Renaissance musician Gladys Bentley
Kendall Jenner sought out fresh blood for her 2025 outfit.
So she turned to up-and-coming British designer Torishéju Dumi, who pulled together a look inspired by Harlem Renaissance musician Gladys Bentley, per British Vogue. The severe-looking dark gray structured blazer featured a peplum flare-out at the bottom and a plunging neckline that was accented by a silver statement necklace, similar to sister Kim.
While loose, the skirt accentuated the runway model's physique and had a modest train.
Bentley, as described by Smithsonian Magazine in 2019, "was ahead of her time for proudly loving other women, wearing men's clothing and singing bawdy songs." She was known for appearing in a three-piece suit and a top hat.
"I had a vision of being very minimal and tailored for this Met, and I went on the hunt to find something interesting and fresh and super exciting to me. Finding a new, young designer was the vision," Kendall told British Vogue.
The look involved 100 feet of deadstock fabric — "It's all about using what you have," Dumi told British Vogue — and 242 hours of work. Dumi explained, "The drama isn't really in the color. It's more in the cut and the silhouette."
Kylie Jenner 'stole' the show at 2025 Met Gala
Like older sister Kim, Kylie also opted for a form-fitting bodice.
She arrived on the blue carpet in a dramatic black-and-gray piece from Ferragamo, accompanied by designer Maximilian Davis. The torso portion was sheer black and matched Kylie's opera gloves. And speaking of accessories, the Kylie Cosmetics founder was wrapped up in a black satin stole that fanned out across the carpet.

Neil Young renews attacks on Trump, calls the U.S. government ‘out of control'
Neil Young is once again taking shots at U.S. President Donald Trump , calling the American government 'out of control' and suggesting that the country is at risk of 'martial law' in a statement shared on his website this week . 'Our country and our way of life, that which our fathers and theirs fought for, is now threatened by our government,' Young declared in a post titled 'WAKE UP AMERICA,' though he did not mention any government policy in particular. 'Our government is out of control, not standing for us.' Young is set to embark on a world tour with his new band the Chrome Hearts later this month. In his post, he said that his shows will not be political, but also acknowledged the fraught political situation in the U.S. 'When I tour the USA this summer, if there is not martial law by then which would make it impossible, let's all come together and stand for American values,' Young's statement said. However, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer did appear to offer Trump an olive branch of sorts: 'President Trump, you are invited. Come and hear our music just as you did for decades,' Young wrote, making reference to the fact that the president was a self-proclaimed fan before their relationship deteriorated in recent years. Last month, Young also came to the defence of Bruce Springsteen, another rock star who has drawn the ire of Trump in recent weeks for publicly criticizing the administration. 'Bruce and thousands of musicians think you are ruining America,' Young wrote on his website on May 20 in a post titled 'TRUMP!!!' 'You worry about that instead of the dyin' kids in Gaza . That's your problem.' Young, 79, was born in Canada, but has lived south of the border for decades (he officially became a U.S. citizen in 2020 ). As an artist and an activist, Young has never shied away from politics and has thrown constant barbs at Trump since he launched his political career in the mid-2010s. In 2015, Young spoke out against Trump's use of the 1990 single 'Rockin' in the Free World,' after the song accompanied Trump's announcement of his presidential campaign. In 2020, Young sued Trump's re-election campaign for copyright infringement , saying he doesn't want his music used as a theme song for a 'divisive un-American campaign of ignorance and hate.' After Trump was elected for the first time, Young penned an open letter calling Trump a 'disgrace' and 'the worst president in the history of our great country.' Young has also been a vocal critic of Trump's tariffs targeting Canada and his threats of annexation. In April, he attended a protest against Trump's threats in Los Angeles, where he was spotted holding up a sign that read, 'HANDS OFF CANADA.' Neil Young attends a protest on April 4, 2025. Earlier this year, Young announced that he is releasing a new protest album with a newly assembled band called the Chrome Hearts, which includes guitarist Micah Nelson, bassist Corey McCormick, drummer Anthony Logerfo and organist Spooner Oldham. Titled 'Talkin to the Trees,' the album's first single is about electric cars, and takes a shot at Tesla CEO and Trump ally Elon Musk . Young and the Chrome Hearts will perform in Toronto at the Budweiser Stage on Aug. 17.

Jamie Foxx roasts Sean ‘Diddy' Combs over vulgar testimonies in sex-trafficking trial: ‘He's a nasty motherf—ker'
Jamie Foxx roasted 'nasty' Sean 'Diddy' Combs over the vulgar testimonies that have been given in the disgraced rapper's sex-trafficking trial. 'That Diddy s–t crazy, huh?' he said while performing on stage at The Comedy Store in West Hollywood, Calif., last Thursday, per a video obtained by Urban Hollywood. 'I don't know if he's going to jail but he's a nasty motherf–ker! Am I right? Especially for our community — white people, it's cool, but Black people, like, that was our hero. All that goddman baby oil, boy.' Foxx, 57, then brought up Combs' ex-girlfriend Casandra 'Cassie' Ventura's testimony about how the disgraced rapper allegedly made a male escort urinate in her mouth. 'And then the urine,' he added, before his 31-year-old daughter, Corinne Foxx — who was moderating the Netflix event — interrupted him. 'Oh, that's right. Just let it be. My bad, I'm sorry,' the comedian said. However, Jamie didn't let it go and continued questioning the alleged sexual acts Combs, 55, was involved in. 'Why you so nasty, Diddy? Old nasty motherf–ker,' he continued. ''Take that, Take that.' That makes you listen to that differently now. What are we taking? 'Cause I don't want any of that,' the Grammy winner continued on, referring to the phrase the Bad Boy Records founder famously uttered. 'For the Black people in here, you know how that hurts us. 'Cause Diddy was, 'It's all about the Benjamins.' That was our whole culture. Now, 'It's all about the baby oil.'' Page Six has reached out to Combs' rep for comment but did not immediately hear back. The dad of seven is currently on trial facing three charges: racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs has pleaded not guilty and denied all culpability. Last month, Jamie finally set the record straight about rumors that the 'I'll Be Missing You' emcee tried to kill him when the singer had his medical emergency in 2023. '… I snuck in my phone because I didn't know what the outside world was saying and I couldn't get my mind around the fact that I had a stroke. I'm in f–kng perfect shape,' the 'Ray' actor recalled during a Hollywood Reporter roundtable of his time being hospitalized. '[I see things like,] 'Puffy tried to kill me.' No, Puffy didn't try to kill me,' he stated. Jamie revealed in December 2024 that his medical emergency was due to a brain bleed that led to a stroke.

Fashion Designer Testifies Diddy Dangled Her Off Balcony, Called Himself 'The Devil'
Back in November 2024, a fashion designer who worked with Sean 'Diddy' in the past sued the mogul, saying he threatened her life and dangled her from a 17th floor balcony in 2016. The woman, named Bryana 'Bana' Bongolan, testified in court Wednesday (June 4) and spoke about her interactions with Combs and what she witnessed in regard to his relationship with Cassie Ventura. While on the witness stand, Bongolan said the balcony incident 'left her with night terrors' and added that there were times where she 'would scream in her sleep,' per NBC. The lasting psychological impact included feelings of paranoia, sometimes leading her to 'peek her head out at her own home just to make sure the area was clear.' She said he held her over the ledge for '10 to 15' seconds and yelled, 'You know what the f**k you did.' The witness also said the father of seven allegedly told her 'something along the lines of, 'I am the devil and I can kill you.'' It's worth noting Ventura included the balcony event in her 2023 lawsuit against Combs without mentioning Bongolan, her friend, by name. The designer claims she witnessed several instances of abuse from Diddy towards Cassie throughout the years. She also testified both she and Ventura were regular drug users during the years they were immersed in Diddy's social circle. She confirmed during cross-examination that she did ketamine, marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine and Vicodin in this time of her life. Per court documents obtained by Rolling Stone last year, Bongolan sued the Bad Boy founder for sexual battery, infliction of emotional distress, and false imprisonment, among other claims. The 17-page lawsuit read, 'Ms. Bongolan refuses to allow this fear to control the rest of her life and brings this action to demand that Mr. Combs takes responsibility for the trauma he intentionally and maliciously inflicted.' Diddy is facing one count of racketeering conspiracy; two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was arrested in NYC on Sept. 16, 2024, and held at MDC Brooklyn without bail. His trial is expected to last all of June and into July.
