PSL star sends a serious message to Orlando Pirates midfielder

Sipho Mbule, one of the most beloved players in the local game, has joined Orlando Pirates ahead of next season's Betway Premiership term.
As a measure to manage Mbule's reported ill-discipline towards alcohol, Sundowns loaned the 27-year-old to Sekhukhune United before the start of last season. Three months before the end of his loan spell, Sekhukhune released the Bethlehem-born star for continued unprofessional behaviour.
In came Orlando Pirates with a surprising announcement of the player known as 'Master Chef.'

'I only congratulated him, wished him well, he's a good footballer, I'm a fan of his talent and what he is capable of doing,' Linda Mntambo told iDiski Times .

'Hopefully he gets there and takes care of himself, does well and just pay back to the people who love to see him play, the people who are supporting him, like myself, I want to see him winning,' Mntambo.

Monnapule Saleng says his football will do the talking

Monnapule Saleng Monnapule Saleng's return to Orbit College marks a pivotal moment in his career after Orlando Pirates agreed to a loan move. Image: BACKPAGEPIX Monnapule Saleng will spend the upcoming Premiership season on loan at newly promoted Orbit College from Orlando Pirates — and the midfielder is delighted to return to familiar surroundings. The move comes after months of uncertainty about his future, following a 2024/25 campaign in which he missed most of the action with the Buccaneers. The midfielder makes his return to his former side on a season-long loan, having recently signed a two-year contract extension with Pirates. He moves in search of regular game time after falling out of favour with the Sea Robbers last season. Orbit made history by earning promotion to the Premiership through the PSL play-offs, overcoming Cape Town City and Casric Stars to secure their place among the elite. As they prepare for their first season in the top flight, the addition of Saleng offers a major boost — bringing in a player who not only knows the club well but also has valuable experience at the highest level. 'I am very happy to be back home, and I thank God for giving me the strength to find my way with Orbit. I am happy they got a promotion, and coming back home brings me a lot of joy,' Saleng said. 'It wasn't an easy decision to come back, especially after having had a long season without playing. I kept on pushing myself even though I was not playing, and I kept supporting the team while waiting for my opportunity, but fortunately I got the opportunity to come back home.' The 27-year-old added that during that challenging spell, drawing strength from his roots kept him going. 'Looking at where you come from, that is where you keep pushing and not break easily. There was motivation here and there, there were talks, but I pushed until I got the opportunity to come to Orbit and get the game time so that the next time I come back, I am fit.' The move comes at a vital time in his career — not only does it offer a chance for regular football, but it also gives him the opportunity to push for a return to the Bafana setup ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations later this year. Orbit will be the only club representing the North West province in the Premiership, becoming the first to do so since Platinum Stars were relegated at the end of the 2017/18 season. Although Saleng knows the club well, he's aware that breaking into the starting lineup won't be guaranteed. 'The style of playing hasn't changed that much compared to three years ago,' he continued. 'There has been a few player changes but the style hasn't changed. "The coach has shown me how he wants us to play and it has made it easy for me to adjust and the players around me have been supportive of me. My performances will talk, I know AFCON is around the corner, but my performance will do the talking.'

'Sad drunk' Paul Gascoigne collapses at home, rushed to hospital

Paul Gascoigne is recovering in hospital after the former Tottenham and England star collapsed at his home. Gascoigne was rushed to hospital by his driver and assistant Steve Foster, who found the 58-year-old in a semi-conscious state in his Dorset house. 'Paul is in hospital, which is the best possible place for him to be right now,' Foster told The Sun newspaper. Gascoigne was reportedly admitted to an intensive care ward after being discovered on Friday, but later moved to an acute medical unit, where his condition is said to be stable. Foster said Gascoigne would 'like to thank everyone for the support he's received so far from so many old friends who wish him well and want to see him back to his best.' One of the most naturally gifted footballers of his generation, Gascoigne played for Newcastle, Tottenham, Lazio, Rangers, Middlesbrough and Everton. He was capped 57 times by England, becoming a global star after his brilliant form at the 1990 World Cup in Italy reached a tearful crescendo with his emotional reaction to a yellow card, which would have ruled him out of the final, in a last four loss against West Germany. Gascoigne also starred for England during their run to the Euro 96 semi-finals, where they again lost to Germany on penalties. The midfielder's issues with alcohol addiction and depression are well-documented and he has suffered a series of health problems in recent years. In 2020, Gascoigne said he had turned his life around after having anti-alcohol pellets sewn into his stomach. But last year, he admitted on the High Performance podcast that he was a 'sad drunk' living in a spare room at the home of his agent. Orlando Pirates news: R120 million, exit looms, new deal revealed

Orlando Pirates secured a 2-0 victory over Granada on Saturday to conclude their European pre-season tour. 20-year-old phenom Relebohile Mofokeng was one of the names on the scoresheet in what could be his final game for the Buccaneers amid substantial interest from several clubs across the globe, including Ah Ahly, FC Cincinnati, and Dutch giants PSV. According to reports, the latter is willing to pay over R100 million for the Sharpeville-born star. 'R100 million is like a round figure. It's more than that! The amount they were negotiating for was initially R120 million,' an inside source revealed. 'You know it's not exactly what you want that you get, and that's why they are talking about the R100 million, but it's believed to be more than that.' A second source confirmed PSV's intentions, alluding to the fact that the Orlando Pirates star is the preferred choice over their initial target Iqraam Rayners. 'There are different scouts from Holland who are believed to be working with recruiters for PSV. They enquired about Iqraam Rayners but it is believed that they are looking at a long-term investment now, and that's why they have opened up negotiations with Orlando Pirates for Rele Mofokeng,' the second insider revealed. Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates have reportedly offered 35-year-old maestro Makhehlene Makhaula contract discussion. Talks have been in motion for a couple months the players agent, Sizwe Ntshangase, confirmed in June. 'What I can confirm is that our discussions with Pirates have gone very well, to the satisfaction of both parties. It is up to Pirates to issue an official statement on Makhaula's contract and its duration,' Ntshangase said. 'I don't like to talk too much (to the media) about the contract of a player I represent, but I leave a lot to his team once we have concluded negotiations with them.'
