Telangana asks Centre to reject AP's Godavari link project
Hyderabad: Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy has urged the Centre to immediately reject the pre-feasibility report (PFR) of the Godavari–Banakacherla link project proposed by the Andhra Pradesh govt.
He also demanded the stoppage of the detailed project report (DPR) and a halt to any tendering process related to the scheme.
In a letter to Union jal shakti minister CR Patil, Uttam asserted that the Centre's move to entertain AP's DPR violates the Godavari Water Disputes Tribunal (GWDT) Award of 1980 and the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, and endangers Telangana's rightful share of river waters.
"The project is a direct assault on Telangana's legal entitlements and violates interstate water-sharing protocols.
Allowing such a project would undermine the equitable and judicious management of interstate river waters and sets a dangerous precedent against the principles of equity and natural justice," Uttam said.
He flagged developments from a June 2 meeting chaired by Union finance ministry official Sajjan Yadav, where the AP govt was reportedly asked to submit the DPR. "This implies that the project is deemed approved.

But how can the Centre ask for a DPR without first approving the PFR?" he questioned.
He argued that any such move would be procedurally flawed, as DPRs must follow a PFR vetted by the Central Water Commission. Skipping this step would undermine the regulatory framework governing inter-state river projects, he said.
He also dismissed criticism that the Congress govt in Telangana had been slow to respond. "When the AP chief minister sought funds from the Centre, I formally objected on Jan 22. Again on June 13, I reiterated our opposition to the PFR, DPR, and tender process. Telangana Congress acted from day one," he said.

"The policies made by the Nehru govt at that time did not have the fragrance of the country's soil. There was no proclamation of our ancient culture in them. They were inspired by Western values. There were many leaders at that time who did not agree with these policies. One of them was Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee, who was the Union minister for industry in the Nehru Cabinet," Shah said. "When Pt. Nehru imposed Article 370 in Kashmir because of the Nehru-Liaqat Pact, Dr Shyamaprasad Mukherjee resigned from the cabinet. Speaking on Article 370, Amit Shah recalled that Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee had proclaimed that 'do vidhan, do nishan, do pradhan' cannot work in one nation. "He marched to remove Article 370 and was murdered. While agitating against Article 370, Dr. Mukherjee protected every inch of the country's land. Ban on cow slaughter, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi program is a symbol of cultural nationalism," he said. Shah said that Madhya Pradesh BJP has a glorious tradition. "Late Kushabhau Thakre had dedicated every moment of his life to the party and the organization received the blessings of great leaders like late Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia and late Sundarlal Patwa ji," he said. "We are all party workers and the party has promoted us based on our ability and capacity, made us MPs and MLAs," he reasoned. The session began with condolences and homages were paid to the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash. Assassinating Supreme Leader Khamenei ‘not off limits', Israeli officials say
This could be an indication that the Jewish nation is now looking at potentially eliminating the country's entire leadership and dismantling the theocratic regime read more In this photo released by an official website of the office of the Iranian supreme leader, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei speaks in a meeting with a group of air force officers in Tehran, Iran, Friday, Feb. 7, 2025. (Office of the Iranian Supreme Leader via AP) Several Israeli officials and politicians have refused to rule out the possibility of assassinating Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei amid escalating tensions between the two nations. A top Israeli official was quoted as saying by the Wall Street Journal that killing the supreme leader was 'not off limits'. The official said that the conflict 'would only end either with Iran voluntarily dismantling its nuclear program or Israel making it impossible for Tehran to reconstitute it.' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Channel 12 also quoted a top Israeli political source as saying that the possibility can't be ruled out. 'Israel is not ruling out the possibility of eliminating Ali Khamenei, but it depends on many things,' the source said. This could be an indication that the Jewish nation is now looking at potentially eliminating the country's entire leadership and dismantling the theocratic regime. In initial strikes under its Operation Rising Lion , Israel killed Iran's highest-ranking military officer, the head of its elite Revolutionary Guards Corps and its air force and a former national security chief. The Israeli official quoted by the WSJ said that Israeli strikes have already dealt a blow to heavily fortified Natanz enrichment facility, where structural collapse was reported. Israeli also claimed to have killed at least nine nuclear scientists of the Shi'ite nation. On Sunday, additional Israeli strikes on Iran were reported , where the Israeli military targeted Ministry of Defence headquarters in Tehran as well as an oil depot. Khamenei meanwhile has vowed retribution. In a televised address, he said, 'We will not permit them to evade consequences for this significant wrongdoing they have perpetrated.' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The ongoing exchange between Israel and Iran has sparked widespread international concern, especially regarding the targeting of political leaders and the risks to deeply buried nuclear facilities. Although there are doubts about Israel's ability to completely dismantle Iran's nuclear programme, an official has claimed that the recent strikes have already 'set back Iran's capabilities significantly.'

FBI announces $50,000 bounty on Minnesota shooting suspect, who served state board; Manhunt underway
The main suspect in the Minnesota shooting incident that killed a state lawmaker was a former state board member named Vance Boelter, 57. The FBI announced a $50,000 bounty on him as the manhunt continues read more This image provided by the FBI on Saturday, June 14, 2025, shows part of a poster with photos of Vance L. Boelter. FBI / AP The authorities have identified the suspect behind the shooting of two Democratic state lawmakers in Minnesota on Saturday. The suspect was identified by the authorities as 57-year-old Vance Boelter. What makes the revelation shocking is the fact that Boelter had served on a state board with one of the victims, records show. He was appointed by multiple Minnesota governors to the Workforce Development Board, where he served with State Senator John A. Hoffman, who was shot and survived the incident. According to The New York Times, Boelter and Senator Hoffman attended a virtual meeting together as recently as 2022. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The two held a discussion about the job market in the aftermath of the Coronavirus pandemic. In the Saturday shooting incident, the suspect killed Minnesota State Speaker Rep. Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband. Shortly after the attack, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) launched a manhunt for Boelter with a $50,000 award for providing information leading to his arrest. 'Anyone with information about these shootings or Boelter's location should call the Minnesota Department of Public Safety's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) tip line at 877-996-6222 or email the Minnesota state office said in a separate statement. The office also warned members of the public to be cautious and not seek to contact Boelter. 'The public is asked to call 911 immediately if they see Boelter. Do not approach him,' the release said. An insider's job According to the state records, Boelter was appointed to the board in 2016 by Mark Dayton, a Democrat who was then the governor of Minnesota. He was recently appointed by the state's current Governor, Tim Walz , also a Democrat. The board Boelter was part of a board which usually has 41 members who are appointed by the governor, and its goal is to improve business development in the state. The 2016 state record listed Boelter's political affiliation as 'none or other,' and another report in 2020 listed him as having 'no party preference.' It is pertinent to note that voters do not declare political affiliation when they register in Minnesota. The police told local reporters that the suspect in the attacks disguised himself as a police officer and went to the homes of two state lawmakers in the Minneapolis suburbs. He eventually shot and wounded Senator Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, and fatally shot State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark. The shooter still remains at large.
