Senior Minister for Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, visited the ongoing construction work of the Yellow Line BRT project and inspected its progress.
During the visit, the Secretary of the Transport Department, Asad Zaman, Yellow Line Project Director Zameer Abbasi, engineers, representatives from construction companies, and consultants were also present.
The consultants briefed the Senior Minister on the project, highlighting the progress, obstacles, and the expected completion timeline.
Sharjeel Inam Memon instructed that there should be no delays in the completion of the Yellow Line BRT, and it should be completed ahead of the deadline. He further emphasised that the project, which was initially set to complete by September 2025, will now be completed by May 2025—five months ahead of schedule.
Speaking to the media, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Sindh government is working tirelessly to provide maximum convenience to the people, and the Yellow Line BRT is an advanced project being built for the citizens of Karachi. He acknowledged that utility-related challenges are common during construction but assured that the government is committed to overcoming these obstacles.
Regarding the Red Line BRT project, he mentioned challenges due to civil aviation, the Water Board, and the K4 project, but assured that these issues would be resolved soon. He praised the Transport Department officials for their excellent performance and efforts to complete the projects on time.
On the Green Line BRT, he confirmed that the fares would not be increased and additional facilities would be provided to improve the public's travel experience.
Sharjeel Inam Memon also appealed to the Prime Minister to honour his commitment to provide 180 buses for Karachi, as this is the right of the city's citizens. He urged that the Prime Minister must fulfil this promise to ensure better travel facilities for Karachi's residents.
As part of special initiatives for women, he announced that pink scooters would be provided for free to working women. Additionally, a pink taxi service would soon be introduced to offer safe and comfortable travel options for women. Furthermore, the Sindh government has launched the "I Work for Sindh" app and portal, which will provide employment opportunities for unemployed youth.
Sharjeel Inam Memon concluded that all these projects are for the people of Karachi, and they will be completed on time to ensure modern travel facilities for the city.

He added that political parties seek publicity for good work, and mega projects are under consideration for Karachi. Karachi is larger than many countries around the world. Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan are also our provinces, and people from there come to Sindh in search of employment, he said. Our province has opportunities, and if there are any shortcomings, we will accept them, he said. He said that the best healthcare facilities in the country are available in Karachi. Sindh's public health services are better and free compared to other provinces. Memon said that the solution to Karachi's heavy traffic problem is the Northern Bypass. He said load shedding is taking place across Sindh; rural districts face more load shedding than Karachi. HESCO, SEPCO, and K-Electric are collectively punishing people, he said. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah becomes emotional over Sindh's issues and taking a zero-tolerance approach, spoke clearly with the federal government. He said. 'He is the one who raises Sindh's issues most frequently at the federal level. During the floods, 2.1 million homes were destroyed in Sindh, and 850,000 homes have already been rebuilt for flood victims.' On this occasion, Sharjeel Inam Memon also announced launch of a bus services on SITE Area routes. He stated that the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project has faced many issues, including encroachments. A mechanism has been established for heavy vehicles registered outside the province. These vehicles will now need to be registered locally. He said 1,500 heavy vehicles that were not roadworthy have been confiscated, he said. He further said that the culture of sit-ins (dharnas) on roads must end, as they harm the public. While protesting is a constitutional right, blocking roads is not permissible, he warned. KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the Sindh government is taking comprehensive measures to empower women. He emphasized that the Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) has always advocated for women's rights. He highlighted that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto took historic initiatives such as establishing the First Women's Bank, setting up Women's Police Stations, and distributing land to landless women farmers. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) and the renowned international food chain KFC at a local hotel in Karachi. The MoU was signed by SMTA Managing Director Kamal Hakim Dayo and KFC CEO Raza Pirbhai. Sindh Senior Minister for Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon, Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, and other senior officials were present at the ceremony. Under the agreement, the Sindh government, in collaboration with KFC, will establish training centers in all divisional headquarters across Sindh to provide scooter driving training for women. Addressing the ceremony, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that President Asif Ali Zardari launched the country's largest income support program, which provided financial assistance to millions of women. He added that during the PPP's tenure, women were issued national identity cards and granted the right to vote. He stated that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari pledged to rebuild two million houses destroyed in the recent floods, with ownership rights being granted to women. He noted that this initiative represents the world's largest housing project. Sharjeel Memon said that the Pink Bus was Pakistan's first women-only public transport project, which received praise from international media. He added that the government has now decided to provide free Pink EV Scooties to women to help them become more independent. He stated that so far, 8,000 women have applied for free scooters, out of which 140 already hold driving licenses. KFC has offered to provide driving training for women and cover their license fees. Raza Pirbhai added that the training will be conducted at divisional headquarters. Sharjeel Memon stated that the bidding process for this project will be transparent, and scooters will be distributed purely on merit. He added that the Sindh government will soon launch a Pink Taxi Service, and more buses, including double-decker buses, are expected to arrive in Pakistan next month. Sharjeel Memon said that the Sindh government has also introduced Pakistan's first electric buses. He added that the country has recently overcome a major challenge, and now it is time for all of us to work together to move the nation forward. On the occasion, KFC CEO Raza Pirbhai hosted a reception in honour of the distinguished guests and expressed pride in being part of this important initiative to empower women in collaboration with the Sindh government. KARACHI: A special Thanksgiving Day ceremony was held in Karachi under the auspices of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) to celebrate the success of Operation 'Bunyān Mursas'. The event was graced by Sindh's Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon as the chief guest. Sharjeel Inam Memon, Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, stated: "Alhamdulillah, Pakistan has won this war with pride—this is a historic victory for the nation." He added that May 10th would always remain a memorable day for him at the age of 51. He emphasized that Pakistan's armed forces and political leadership united to deal a historic defeat to the enemy, and this victory belongs to the collective struggle of 250 million people. He further stated that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto laid the foundation of Pakistan's nuclear program, and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto made the country's defense invincible by introducing missile technology. Sharjeel Inam Memon remarked that today, travelling abroad on a Pakistani passport is a matter of pride. Criticizing the Indian media, he said that it was only spreading lies and that defamation cases should be filed globally against such organizations. He praised the Pakistani media for broadcasting verified news and said that our fighter pilots made the enemy taste bitter defeat. Senator Sarmad Ali said that by the grace of Almighty Allah, Pakistan achieved success on every front, and under the leadership of Field Marshal General Asim Munir, the enemy was thoroughly defeated. He also commended the Pakistani media for acting responsibly and praised Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for effectively projecting Pakistan's stance on the international stage. The participants paid glowing tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces, saying that Operation 'Bunyān Mursus' delivered a strong and decisive response to the enemy. Saqib Fayyaz Maggoon said, "We thank Allah that the Pakistan Army upheld the nation's honour and proved that 'Pakistan is a formidable defensive power." Faisal Zahid Malik paid a heartfelt tribute to 'Field Marshal General Asim Munir', stating that he united the nation as one he remarked that a few months ago, a divided nation had now transformed into a solid, unified front. During the ceremony, participants also paid deep tribute to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Field Marshal General Asim Munir and the martyrs of the nation, stating that Pakistan not only won the war but also asserted its dominance on diplomatic, political, and media fronts.
