Minister stresses tech-driven farming
Kurnool: Industries, Commerce, and Food Processing Minister TG Bharath directed agriculture officials to raise awareness among farmers about the effective use of drone technology in agriculture.
Speaking at Zilla Parishad general body meeting in Kurnool on Saturday, chaired by ZP Chairman Errabothula Papireddy, the Minister urged officials to expedite the formation of farmer groups to meet the target of deploying 35 drones, with only 17 sanctioned so far. He instructed mandal-level agricultural officers to educate farmers on drone spraying to boost productivity and efficiency.
The meeting addressed several key issues, including NTR health scheme. Responding to the complaints from Adoni MLA Parthasarathi about network hospitals charging patients, Bharath ordered the health department to establish a vigilance committee to ensure proper implementation. He also directed the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) to investigate high oxygen procurement costs in government hospitals and recommended adopting Comprehensive Maintenance Contracts (CMC) over Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) for critical equipment like ICU setups.
On sanitation and education, the Minister emphasised the need for a centralised, high-quality supply of bleaching powder State-wide to maintain hygiene standards. He instructed the District Education Officers (DEOs) of Kurnool and Nandyal to inspect school buildings over 20 years old and implement safety measures. Additionally, he sought details from irrigation officials on pending flood risk mitigation proposals along the Handri River, requesting a copy of the submitted plans.
District Collector P Ranjith Basha and Nandyal Collector G Rajakumari addressed local concerns, including counterfeit seeds in C Belagal mandal, horticulture crop expansion, cotton seed subsidies due to high rainfall, and health infrastructure upgrades in Adoni. The Collector announced that the Mega DSC exams would conclude by July 2, with results expected by July 15, facilitating teacher recruitment. He noted that the district's 10th-grade pass rate improved to 88.88% with virtual classrooms. Proposals for new KGBVs, BC hostels, and model schools have been submitted to the Central government.

Visakhapatnam: Housing minister Kolusu Parthasarathy has announced that the state govt will construct permanent houses with all facilities for the poor and complete the pending works in NTR colonies. The minister visited housing layouts at Gidijala in Visakhapatnam district and Paidivada Agraharam in Anakapalli district, to inspect the progress of construction and interacted with beneficiaries. The minister inspected the housing layouts in Gidijala and Paidivada Agraharam, where 2,098 plots were laid on 45.76 acres and 10,228 plots were laid on 320.83 acres, respectively. He stated that the housing scheme would be implemented robustly without any room for political differences and warned that a thorough investigation would be conducted into any irregularities in housing layouts and house constructions. Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Pendurthi MLA Panchakarla Ramesh Babu requested the minister to provide basic facilities promptly, sanction additional financial assistance, and cooperate to inaugurate the houses in a festive atmosphere. Smart and invisible policing helping police prevent crimes, says A.P. Home Minister
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said that 'smart and invisible policing' are helping the police to prevent crimes and provide more security to the public in the State during the launch of 'Suraksha 360' aimed at providing CCTV surveillance for the entire NTR Police Commissionerate, on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that mobile phones can be used as weapons for protection, and urged women to use 'Sakthi App' for their safety. 'There is no scope for crimes in Andhra Pradesh. Government is taking all steps to prevent crime. Drones and CCTV are being used to check anti-social elements, particularly in VIP zones,' Ms. Anitha said. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Shivanath praised the NTR Commissionerate Police for launching Suraksha 360 which will help to check crimes in Amaravati region. The MP also had words of appreciation for MLA Sujana Chowdary, who installed ₹30 lakh worth of CCTVs in Vijayawada West Constituency. District Collector G. Lakshmisha said that NTR district will become a role model for taking initiatives that help create a peaceful atmosphere. He thanked the donors who helped to install CCTVs in the district. Mr. Sujana Chowdary, meanwhile, thanked the police for solving traffic problems at all major junctions by using 'Astram App'. He directed the police to take measures to provide safety at all schools and colleges. Police Commissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu said that CCTVs helped the police to detect crimes.
