DMK GC resolutions are to hide its failure: Murugan
Chennai: Union minister of state for parliamentary affairs L Murugan said the DMK had passed resolutions attacking the BJP during the party's general council meeting in Madurai in a bid to hide its failures.
In a statement on Monday, Murugan said the Dravidian major was adopting diversionary tactics by condemning the BJP govt at the Centre.
"CM M K Stalin seems to believe that if they pass resolutions condemning the BJP govt at the Centre, the public will forget about the corruption and failures of his own regime," Murugan said.
During the general council meeting on Sunday, the DMK had passed multiple resolutions criticising the BJP from bringing the Waqf Act to withholding of funds and projects to TN.
Murugan alleged there was widespread corruption in DMK govt which Stalin wants to hide.
"The legacy of systematic corruption evolved under the DMK regime has evolved into brazen looting," he alleged adding the real aim of the general council meeting was to reaffirm that his son and deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin was the heir apparent and party cadres must blindly follow him.
Meanwhile, BJP Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan criticised Stalin for his remarks that 'No matter which Shah visits Tamil Nadu, they cannot rule us,' made at the general council meeting.
"If the DMK thinks TN is behind them, why is the CM always worrying about the AIADMK-BJP alliance," she asked.

'Those who murder elected PM': Priyanka Chaturvedi mocks Bilawal Bhutto's ‘buzdil' speech; slams Pakistan in Brussels
NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Wednesday delivered a scathing rebuke of Pakistan and its political-military establishment during a public address in Brussels, targeting former Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari without naming him. Referring to Bhutto's remarks, Chaturvedi said, 'The person who is leading the delegation, in his parliamentary speech, said 'Kon raat ke andhere mein hamle karte hain, Buzdil raat ke waqt hamle karte hain'... 'Buzdil' are those who do a coup on an elected government and after sending them to jail, murder the elected Prime Minister, so that the army can control the government.' Her comments referenced Bhutto's remarks on India's military response to Islamabad's terror attacks. Chaturvedi flipped that accusation, linking true cowardice to Pakistan's history of military coups and political assassinations, including the killing of Benazir Bhutto and the ousting of Imran Khan. In a sharp critique of the Pakistani state's support for terrorism , she called on the international community to confront Islamabad's role. ' She highlighted India's resilience against Pakistan across fields—from military conflict to cricket—saying, 'We have decades of experience of showing them their place. Our armed forces have defeated them, we have defeated you in cricket, trade... How many more times do they want to get humiliated by us?' Her remarks came as part of an all-party parliamentary delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad currently touring Europe, including Belgium, to raise concerns about terrorism and highlight the Indian position on global platforms. The delegation includes BJP and Congress leaders, along with former diplomats, and is engaging with EU officials, think-tanks, and diaspora communities. The diplomatic effort follows the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and India's subsequent airstrikes on terror bases in Pakistan and PoK.

Opposition must unite to dismantle DMK government: Nainar Nagendran
All Opposition parties in the State, including actor Vijay's party, must come together to remove the DMK government, citing deteriorating law and order, rising drug use among students, and financial burdens on citizens, said Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran. 'Property tax rates and electricity charges have become unbearable. All Opposition parties must unite to dislodge the DMK government,' he said while meeting with the media persons here on Wednesday. Mr. Nagendran also clarified that the BJP does not interfere in the internal affairs of any political party. Responding to allegations of BJP involvement in the recent internal rift within the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), he said, 'Not just the PMK, the BJP will not intervene in the internal matters of any party.' On the status of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu, he said both O. Panneerselvam and T.T.V. Dhinakaran are already part of the alliance. 'I believe all NDA constituents will work together with former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, who is also part of the alliance,' he said. On the ongoing sexual harassment case involving a student of Anna University, Mr. Nagendran said, 'The public is still asking, 'Who is that sir?' The police have not conducted a proper investigation. While I will not comment on the court's verdict, the Chief Minister must clarify the issue and respond to public concerns.' When asked about Congress State president K. Selvaperunthagai's statement suggesting that PMK and DMDK should join the DMK-led alliance, Mr. Nagendran dismissed it as a personal opinion. 'There are still 10 months left for the elections. We will consider talks regarding PMK and DMDK joining the NDA,' he said. On actor Kamal Haasan's recent remarks about the origin of the Kannada language, Mr. Nagendran said, 'If he had spoken only about Tamil, everyone would have supported him. But linking it to other languages is unacceptable.' He also announced that around five lakh devotees are expected to attend the Murugan Devotees' Conference in Madurai on June 22. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Madurai on June 8 to meet BJP functionaries, he added.

'Don't Politicise': BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla Reacts As Stampedes Kill 11 In Bengaluru
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice president and Congress MP Rajeev Shukla believes the ruling party, Congress, "should not be blamed" for the stampede that broke out outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL winning celebrations on Wednesday. After the stampede incident, Karnataka Legislative Council member, BK Hariprasad, said that 11 people, including a woman, died in the stampedes during the event. Shukla feels the stampede outside the stadium should not be "politicised" and revealed he spoke to the franchise. According to Shukla, RCB didn't expect such a huge crowd to attend the celebrations. He also assured that efforts are being made to provide maximum help to the families of the victims. "This can happen in any state, and the ruling party should not be blamed for it. It should not be politicised. If this happens in a BJP-ruled state, we should not blame them. The crowd was huge. I spoke to the franchise, and they also did not think that such a huge crowd would come, and this incident happened suddenly. Efforts are being made to provide maximum help to the families of the deceased," Shukla told reporters. "The government did stop the roadshow in order to avoid a stampede or any such situation. But it was not anticipated that a stampede would happen outside the stadium. Everybody should work together on the damage control," he added. Opposition parties in the state, including the Janata Dal (Secular), have squarely blamed the Congress-led state government for what they describe as a complete failure of planning and public safety. Union Minister of Heavy Industries HD Kumaraswamy said the primary reason for this "massive tragedy is the lack of proper planning and complete failure to take precautionary measures". Kumaraswamy, a former Karnataka Chief Minister, said the state's Congress government must take full responsibility for this disaster. "The tragic incident of a stampede near Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium during the RCB victory celebrations, resulting in the unfortunate death of people, has left me deeply shocked. It is extremely painful to see innocent lives lost even before the celebrations could begin," he said.
