Jett Lawrence graces 2025 Met Gala red carpet with classic style
Occasionally, an athlete emerges in an established sport with the capacity to change how it is viewed. On Monday, May 5, 2025, Jett Lawrence joined another groundbreaking racer, Lewis Hamilton, at the iconic Met Gala in New York City.
Lawrence was the first SuperMotocross athlete to walk the red carpet at the exclusive event.
'It's honestly an honor,' Lawrence said before being called onto the carpet. 'It shows that moto's expanding into new spaces, and I get to help lead that. I'm proud to rep the sport and show the world we've got style too.'
The theme of the 2025 Met Gala was 'Superfine Tailoring: Black Style, Black Dandyism' which called for fearless expression and boundary-defying elegance. Jett delivered with his boyish good looks and sense of style, showing a sophistication that dirt bike racing often fails to evoke.
Lawrence's suit was tailored by David August, crafted from a deep aubergine self-floral jacquard. The double-breasted suit harkened to an earlier epoch of style, but was modernized with a hidden fly front, sculptural exaggerated peak lapels, and sleek jetted flat pockets.
Standing in the gap between ageless icons of SuperMotocross like Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen and new additions to the 450 division such as Justin Cooper and Christian Craig, Lawrence's Gala experience was a turning point for the sport.
Lawrence was joined by other superstar athletes, including Hamilton, who co-chaired the event, Saquon Barkley, Simone Biles, Joe Burrow, Serena Williams, and Jalen Hurts, plus several others.
Lawrence will return to SuperMotocross for Round 18 of the SMX World Championship and Round 1 of Pro Motocross from Fox Raceway in Pala, California, in two weeks on May 24, 2025.

Late announcer Jim Fagan's voice will return with the NBA to NBC, courtesy of AI
Many people remember the late Jim Fagan as the rugged voice that proudly informed 1990s and early-2000s basketball fans that they were watching the NBA on NBC. The distinct sound of Fagan's voiceovers, with John Tesh's rousing "Roundball Rock" playing in the background, will be forever linked to the era when Michael Jordan dominated the sport and players like Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal and Tim Duncan were just starting to build their legacies. Advertisement Fagan died in 2017 at age 72 after battling Parkinson's disease. His voice, however, will soon be more than just a fond memory for basketball fans. Fagan's voice will be used to "supplement traditional voiceover work by other artists hired by NBC Sports," the network said in a news release. That announcement came days after NBC Sports revealed that it was bringing back "Roundball Rock" as its NBA anthem. On Tuesday, the network dropped a promo video featuring both the classic song and Fagan's AI-generated voice. Any nostalgic vibes felt by old-school NBA fans definitely were not coincidental. 'For many basketball fans, Jim's unique and recognizable voice immediately conjures a deep sense of nostalgia for a special time in NBA history,' NBC Sports president Rick Cordella said in the news release. 'His voice perfectly captured the magnitude of the heavyweight matchups and stars that he was introducing. It's been a joy to work with Jim's family to recreate his voice and honor his legacy. I'm excited we're able to introduce his voice to a whole new generation of fans.' Advertisement Four hours after the promo video was posted on YouTube, it had received 25 comments, most of which criticized the decision to use AI to generate the voice of someone who is no longer alive. But Fagan's daughters, Jana Silvia Joyce and Risa Silvia-Koonin, said in NBC's news release that their father would have been "thrilled." Shrinking Boss Bill Lawrence Tees Up Reunion With His ‘Hero' Michael J. Fox, Shares Favorite Spin City Memory
You know the old saying, 'Don't work with your heroes'? Well, perhaps it actually should have been 'Don't work with your heroes… unless your hero is Michael J. Fox.' On Saturday, I moderated the Bill Lawrence & Friends panel at ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas — a panel that also featured Zach Braff (Scrubs), Josh Hopkins (Cougar Town), Brett Goldstein and Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso), and Charly Clive (Lawrence's forthcoming HBO show) — and I asked Lawrence about his reunion with the Spin City star, who has already filmed scenes for Season 3 of Apple TV+'s Shrinking (premiere date TBA). Lawrence pauses, then continues: 'I didn't expect to have career highlights at this point in my career, and I was on set about 10 days ago watching Harrison Ford, Mike Fox and Candice Bergen — oops, spoiler! — acting together. For me, that was my childhood.' Additional details surrounding Fox's guest stint — which marks his first acting gig in five years — are being kept under wraps, along with any information about who Bergen is playing. But the fact that Fox is sharing scenes with Ford — whose character, Dr. Paul Rhoades, also lives with Parkinson's disease — is certainly telling. As a follow-up, I ask Lawrence if he has a favorite memory of Fox from their time working together on the aforementioned Spin City. What followed was an anecdote from the very beginning of the ABC sitcom's 1996-2002 run: I remember when Mike first made me feel comfortable. I was lucky enough to have a mentor [Family Ties mastermind Gary David Goldberg] with whom I co-created Spin City. I was 25 years old, and Mike Fox was saying things I wrote, and I was so scared to give him notes. What finally broke the ice — and I think he did this on purpose — was there was a joke that I was convinced was going to be f–king funny. Mike's like, 'Dude, not funny,' and I'm like, 'It's gonna be funny,' and he's like, 'All right, I'll do it.' It's the first scene with a huge audience, it's crackling with electricity, and we get to that joke, and he says it, and there's f–king crickets. And instead of going on with the scene, he just looked over at me and goes, 'You f–king happy now?' [Laughs] He was letting me know that it was OK [to give him a note], and it gave me so much confidence. But he was also letting me know that those of us who write don't have to have that kind of egg on our face if it goes south, so one of the things we always tell everybody [on my shows] is if you do something silly and big and bold and go for it, and it doesn't work, I promise it won't be on the show. But yeah, I hope you guys like seeing Mike on TV again. He's my hero.
