Nelly Furtado stuns in tiny hotpants as wows crowd at Boardmasters Festival

Daily Mirror2 days ago
The I'm Like A Bird singer took to the stage at Boardmasters Festival in a quirky and colourful outfit as she performed some of her biggest hits
Pop icon Nelly Furtado wowed audiences with a quirky choice of outfit at the Boardmasters Festival in Cornwall on Saturday. The 47-year-old made sure all eyes were on her as she stunned in a pair of high-waisted green ruffled hotpants.

She paired it with a matching green wrap-around top and some giant furry sleeves as she sang some of her greatest hits including Maneater and I'm Like A Bird.

Nelly wore a pair of white boots with a chain detailing and accessorised with some tinted green sunglasses and silver earrings, necklace and bracelets. The performer was all smiles as she interacted with her fans in the audience. It comes after an exciting heatwave forecast with maps revealing the exact date a 39C heat plume will scorch the UK.

The singer is just one of the big-name acts performing at the sunny three-day festival, with several other huge names performing, including Raye, Leigh-Anne, Kaiser Chiefs, Krept and Kronan and The Prodigy.
The Canadian songwriter's colourful appearance comes after she revealed last year that her skin was often lightened in magazine photoshoots.

Nelly, whose parents immigrated from Portugal, told People: '"I have olive skin, and they'd kind of lighten my skin a lot in photos and kind of take my hips down all the time they would always cut off in editorials.'
She also mentioned that there was a 'lot of airbrushing' during her peak fame years. This isn't the first time she opened up about the worrying trend as her 2003 song Powerless had lyrics that stated: 'Paint my face in your magazines, Make it look whiter than it seems, Paint me over with your dreams, Shove away my ethnicity.'
Reflecting on her experience, she continued: '"By my second album, I guess I was kind of angry about it."

Despite these challenges, Nelly said she felt 'so lucky and blessed' and had a good team around her who were looking out for her best interests.
She's one of the most successful Canadian artists, having sold over 45 million records, including 35 million in album sales worldwide. Nelly first shot to fame when she released her trip hop inspired debut album, Whoa, Nelly! In 2000.
Her debut project was both a critical and commercial success, with two singles hitting the Billboard Top 100, namely I'm Like A Bird and Turn Off The Lights.
She released her second album, Folklore, in 2003 and this time around, she experimented with and explored her Portuguese heritage.
The legend went on to release a further five albums over a 14-year-span, with her latest offering, 7, releasing just last year.

Rap icon cancels gig one hour before performance after 'unforeseen illness'

A fan favourite rapper was supposed to tear up the Budweiser Stage in Toronto on August 11. Instead, fans were left staring at a screen announcing the show was postponed due to an 'unforeseen illness.' Lil Wayne was scheduled to perform for his Canadian fans as part of his Tha Carter VI Tour, which kicked off in June and is set to run until October. No one saw it coming – the venue had already filled up, and the announcement dropped at 8 pm, a whole hour after the show was meant to start. The screen lit up with a message saying Weezy was too sick to perform, but he 'loves putting on nothing short of the best performances.' It promised that all tickets would still be valid for the rescheduled date, but as of now, that date is a mystery. There's been no official follow-up or apology from the 42-year-old's team, but fans online were clearly disappointed. One fan, @fridayrickdred, took to X to say: 'Lil Wayne cancels Toronto concert last min! We gotta talk about Wayne possibly destroying his legacy. He might be inching towards COOKED status! Or is he already there?' 'You still the best rapper ever though but you broke my heart tn,' @lefthooklili added. Tha Carter VI Tour is set to cover over 30 cities across North America. That includes stops in New York, Detroit, Vegas, and more – and yes, Toronto was one of the more hyped ones as it was his first show back in Canada since 2023. Wayne is touring off the back of his new album, Tha Carter VI, which dropped on June 6 and features an insane mix of guests – Bono, Andrea Bocelli, Big Sean, Jelly Roll, and even his own sons. The album marks his 14th studio release, and for a rapper with over two decades in the game, he's still pushing his sound. The song Island Holiday even samples Weezer's Island in the Sun, bringing in a whole different vibe. Another standout is Bells, a track that flips LL Cool J's Rock the Bells – and yes, LL joined Wayne on stage at the Madison Square Garden tour opener to perform it live. The performance was a big deal for the rapper, as it was Wayne's first time headlining the iconic venue. The next scheduled show is in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, on August 16 – and as of now, it's still on. More Trending Meanwhile, Wayne's got more going on than just the tour. He's headlining the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Vegas this September alongside Maroon 5, LL Cool J, and Bryan Adams – a pretty wild lineup. He's also popping up on other people's tracks – like Chance the Rapper's new single Tree, which dropped last week and features a solid Wayne verse. Wayne may be nearly 20 years removed from Tha Carter II, but he's proving he's still a major player in 2025.. Got a story?
