Broncos LB Alex Singleton on track to return for Week 1

NBC Sports06-05-2025

Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton played 190 defensive snaps last season, with 49 coming after he tore an anterior cruciate ligament.
Singleton injured his knee on the eighth play of the Week 3 win over the Buccaneers on Sept. 22. He didn't miss a snap in the game, but the injury did end the rest of his season.
He gave Zac Stevens of DNVR a promising update Tuesday.
' It's good . I feel like I'm on schedule. It's feeling really good,' Singleton said. 'I'm working my way in to doing things with the guys, which has been the most important thing to kind of be on that timeline with everyone else during the offseason. I'm able to do that. Full speed ahead for me. We're going to just keep attacking this like everything else. Excited for this season.'
Singleton doesn't have a timeline when doctors will clear him to return for football activities, but he promises to be on the field for Week 1.
'I still can't technically fully say, but let's just say that there should be no worries about '49' playing this year,' Singleton said. 'I'll be out there.'
Singleton has worked with the team's vice president of player health and performance Beau Lowery every day since his surgery Oct. 15. He posted video to his Instagram of him running full speed.
'Let's just say we're in a really good spot,' Singleton said. 'You get three more months. Three more. So we're good.'

Urban Meyer unable to properly count Georgia's number of home games

Former Florida Gators and Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer discussed the Georgia Bulldogs' prospects for the 2025 college football season on "The Triple Option" podcast. The podcast features Meyer, former Alabama Crimson Tide running back Mark Ingram and fellow FOX college football analyst Rob Stone. Meyer emphasized the importance of scheduling and how it impacts a team's success. Advertisement "I am sitting here looking at Georgia's schedule. They are playing nine, this is an SEC schedule man, nine games at home," said Meyer. There's no doubt that Georgia scheduled a soft nonconference schedule in 2025. "Marshall, Austin Peay and Charlotte and they've got nine. Count them. Nine home games," added Meyer. "Come on Kirby (Smart) what in the world was that." Meyer fails to mention that Georgia plays Georgia Tech, as usual, in nonconference play. Ohio State Buckeyes former head coach Urban Meyer Well, we counted. We have a copy of Georgia's schedule and can clearly see that the Bulldogs play seven home games, which is very common in this era of college. Georgia does play a pair of neutral site games against Florida and Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs only have three true road games, so that's what Meyer is trying to get at. Advertisement It is a little embarrassing that Meyer, who obviously coached at Florida, did not realize that the Georgia-Florida game is played a neutral site on UGA's schedule. We also can see Ohio State's schedule from their 2024 national championship season, where the Buckeyes did actually play nine home games (includes one home game in the College Football Playoff). The Buckeyes played a three-game regular season nonconference slate of Akron, Western Kentucky and Marshall and had eight regular season games at home, which is a lot. As for Florida, the Gators had a challenging 2024 schedule that still featured seven home games. The Gators have six home games in 2025 while Ohio State had seven home games in 2025, which is the same amount as Georgia. Despite a weak nonconference schedule, Georgia's schedule is by no means easy. The Bulldogs play Alabama, Texas and Ole Miss at home and have road games against Auburn and Tennessee. Neutral site contests against Florida and Georgia Tech present significant challenges as well. Haason Reddick Gives Bizarre Buccaneers' OTA Update

Haason Reddick Gives Bizarre Buccaneers' OTA Update originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The month of May is usually a time for organizations around the league to hit the practice field for offseason workouts. It's usually a good time for disgruntled players to also try and make headway on new deals with their team. Advertisement The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in a unique situation in regards to that. They don't really have any player in line for major contract extensions, yet have a very clear absence from OTAs that is turning heads. Haason Reddick, the former All-Pro with the Philadelphia Eagles, is on his third team in as many years. He signed a free agent deal with the Buccaneers for over $14 million - a stark decrease from the amount he has been looking for over the last few years. Even still, Reddick missed most of the 2024 season while holding out for a new contract with the New York Jets. It would make sense for him to show up and be dominant with his new team in Tampa Bay. That isn't what is happening, though. Reddick has remained away from the Buccaneers organization during voluntary workouts. Advertisement Bordering on the even further bizarre, Reddick posted a story on his Instagram of him working out titled "Great work day". Here's a question - why exactly isn't Reddick working out with his new team? Tampa Bay runs a different scheme than the Jets and Eagles do. Why does Reddick think he'll be able to pick that up easily? The reality is that Reddick has become a major enigma in NFL circles. The more he stays away from the team during the voluntary workout phase, the weirder this whole situation looks. How NFC Trade Helps Buccaneers' Super Bowl Hopes

How NFC Trade Helps Buccaneers' Super Bowl Hopes originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When the Philadelphia Eagles chose to trade edge rusher Bryce Huff to the San Francisco 49ers last week, the expectation was that there wouldn't be major shake-up among NFC contenders. Advertisement The reality, though, is that this move says a lot more about the NFC Playoff picture than originally perceived. And it's great news for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Let's start with the defending champs. The Eagles have struggled mightily to beat the Buccaneers over the last few years. They also have a pass rush that has now seen four players from last season all find new homes (one of them did retire). The departure of Huff won't make things easier for Philly going forward. Then there is the 49ers. After a dismal six-win finish in 2024, the team said goodbye to several starters on the defensive end. While Huff was most productive under head coach turned defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, he still has major weaknesses against the run. Advertisement That kind of weakness shows the 49ers won't be very good against the run next season. ... Especially in Saleh's wide-nine approach. Both teams are expected to be contenders alongside the Buccaneers this season. The fact that the competition may have have taken major steps backward in their run defense is great news for Tampa Bay. ... Especially with a 1,000-yard runner in Bucky Irving already on the team. Tampa's rushing attack will make things very difficult for both Philly and San Fran, And it could fundamentally shift the balance of power in the conference going forward.
