All the key Jay Slater evidence from final inquest session as coroner's investigation comes to a close
When the inquest started on May 21, 2025 it was dramatically halted after Jay's mum Debbie asked for extra attempts to be made to locate witnesses who had failed to respond to a request to give evidence.
After just over 12 months, Jay Slater's family now have answers about how the 19-year-old died and the circumstances leading up to his disappearance, Lancs Live reports.

It comes after the apprentice bricklayer from Lancashire went missing on June 17, 2024 in Tenerife after leaving a party in Playa de las Americas and heading north to a remote Airbnb in Masca, before attempting to return on foot.

The inquest resumed today with evidence being heard from Brad Geoghegan and Lucy Law - the two friends who were with Jay in Tenerife when he disappeared.
A third friend Brandon Hodgson did not make contact with the coroner's service, and Steven 'Rocky' Roccas - one of the two men who rented the Airbnb where Jay was last seen - could also not be found.
The entirety of the evidence has now been heard with the coroner, Dr James Adeley, due to give his summing-up and conclusion on Friday morning.
During proceedings the court heard from Brad Geoghegan, who described how he and Jay "might have took it a bit too far" with the drink and drugs as their trip to Tenerife last summer was their 'first boys' holiday".
Although Jay, from Oswaldtwistle, had been drunk, on the night of Sunday, June 16 - the last night of the NRG music festival - he was still coherent and not "in a state", Brad said. This was corroborated by Ayub Qassim, the other man who had rented the Airbnb where Jay was last seen.
Ayub, who gave his evidence via video link from a foreign country, said that Jay was "on a buzz" but could still stand up and talk.
Jay had asked Ayub and Rocky if he could go back to their Airbnb, the inquest heard. Ayub warned Jay it was "far away" but promised to drop him back off in town the following morning.
A picture of Jay, taken by Ayub after they parked up at the Airbnb in Masca, showed him smiling. Ayub left Jay with a blanket, a towel and a "deck of fags" and then went upstairs to bed.

He was later woken by a neighbour ringing the doorbell to get Ayub to move his car which had blocked in their van.
Jay then told Ayub he was going to catch a bus back to town. Ayub told Jay "it's not the kind of place where there's a bus every 10 minutes" but Jay insisted on setting off.
Ayub repeatedly insisted that Jay "didn't steal no watch", referencing a Snapchat message Jay had sent to a friends in which he claimed to have stolen a Rolex or an Audemars Piguet watch. Ayub suggested this could have been a case of Jay exaggerating or trying to show off to his mates.
Jay's other childhood friend, Lucy Law who he had met at secondary school, was seen as the "sensible" member of the group. When Jay called her on the morning of Monday June 17, and said he was walking home but needed a drink, she urged him to "go back" to the Airbnb "before it gets boiling".
Jay's mobile phone battery then died, at around 8.43am, and he was reported missing shortly afterwards at 9am. His body was found in a ravine, on July 15, by a mountain rescue team who said Jay's bag had been found around 20 metres higher up - suggesting that was where he fell from.
The inquest will continue from 10am on Friday, July 25 when the coroner will sum up the case and then deliver his conclusion.

Florida AG Uthmeier announces record-breaking sting, arrests 48 child predators, ICE flags six foreign nationals
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced Wednesday the arrest of 48 individuals and the filing of 153 charges during a six-day undercover operation targeting online child predators in Central Florida. The operation, led by the Marion County Sheriff's Office and supported by the Office of Statewide Prosecution, involved nine law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels. According to Uthmeier, it marks the highest number of arrests in the history of this annual initiative. Among those arrested were six foreign nationals who were flagged with detainers by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Authorities said they traveled to Florida from Jamaica, El Salvador, Dubai, and India with the intent to exploit children. "They came after children, but Florida and federal law enforcement were waiting for them," Uthmeier said. "Thanks to the Marion County Sheriff's Office for putting this operation together so these men were stopped before they could harm a single child." Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods urged parents to remain vigilant. "Parents, we will never arrest every single one of them," Woods said. "You have to know what your child is doing online, and children have to know what dangers are lurking online." Officials said the suspects used various platforms, including Snapchat, to try to contact minors who were actually undercover officers. The Attorney General's Office is suing Snapchat, alleging the company violated Florida law by misleading parents about the platform's risks. "This is one of the best operations I've seen," said State Attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit Bill Gladson. "Sheriff Woods and his deputies did an outstanding job catching and removing 40 predators from the Central Florida community." The 153 charges filed include: • Traveling to meet a minor for illegal sexual conduct (34)• Human trafficking (5)• Using a computer to solicit a child for sexual conduct (48)• Unlawful use of a two-way communications device to facilitate a felony (40)• Transmitting material harmful to a minor (14)• Traveling to meet a minor for illegal sexual conduct facilitated by a guardian (1)• Using a computer to solicit a guardian for illegal sexual conduct with a child (1)• Fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer (1)• Resisting arrest without violence (2)• Drug charges (4)• Possession of drug paraphernalia (1)• Reckless driving (1)• Violation of probation (1)

'BBC's new Traitors-style show Destination X has one big problem'
OPINION: The Destination X contestants do miss out on the very best elements of Race Across the World BBC's new travel show Destination X steals some of its elements from The Traitors and Race Across the World, making it addictive TV. Put yourself in the shoes of Destination X's contestants who are being guided by the gamesmaster, Rob Brydon. Imagine being blindfolded and led onto a luxury coach that has blacked-out windows, travelling through Europe. You must try to work out where you are — Destination X — with only vague and confusing clues to help you. There is £100,000 at stake. The money on the table is much higher than the £20,000 winnings for Race Across the World and even better than The Traitors 2025's jackpot of £94,600 (this was split two ways at £47,000). Immediately, it sounds enticing. Think The Traitors meets Coach Trip. You can play along at home too, although without the attractive monetary reward. Destination X misses the best parts of Race Across the World "It struck me as the best bits of The Traitors with the best bits of Race Across the World," its gamemaster Rob Brydon teased ahead of it landing on BBC One. The Would I Lie To You? host is good fun and he has been taking inspiration from Claudia Winkleman's terrific hosting on The Traitors. But Destination X does have one big flaw. The Destination X contestants do, in fact, miss out on the very best elements of Race Across the World. The majority of the filming so far takes place from the inside of the coach. This does prove to be a limit of the new BBC series, especially where it has been pitched as a travel show. The Destination X contestants don't get to interact with the locals or have the opportunity to freely explore within the countries they are travelling through. Perhaps it would give away too much. All of the clues the contestants get are tightly controlled by production through challenges. It would be great to see more of the Destination X contestants dropped in the middle of nowhere with the freedom to explore some of the surrounding area. Almost like a real life Geoguessr, where players have to work out the location from Google Street view. Race Across the World contestants often tell Yahoo UK that exploring the countries and speaking to strangers are the two most rewarding things to get from the experience. Being confined to two coaches (one for sleeping) on Destination X is like trapping all of the contestants of The Traitors in one room of the Scottish castle. Or putting them on a long overnight bus on Race Across the World. Race Across the World's 2024 winner Alfie previously complained to Yahoo UK that boredom on those endless coach journeys was the toughest part of the show. It seems a shame not to make more of the stunning locations Destination X's coaches are travelling through. I want to see more moments like the second episode's cable car challenge in the Switzerland mountains. It's gripping and the scenery is spectacular. Rows and casting But the claustrophobia on the coach does have its advantages. It will work well for escalating the tension among the cast. I expect explosive rows to break out in that small space as the trip goes on, nearing its final destination. There are a lot of different personalities onboard you could see clashing. Destination X's bosses have cast a variety of different characters from endurance athlete Nick who isn't afraid to speak his mind even when he doesn't agree with others, to E-commerce Manager James who doesn't mind stirring up the drama, to relaxed and trusting London taxi driver Daren. Like The Traitors, everyone plays the game differently. Some people onboard are quick to form secret allegiances. There are the people who tell the truth and others who want to tell lies. You can't help but wonder how you would play the game. But there are no banishments here; its the person who guesses the furthest away from the location who will be sent packing. Understandably, the first episode feels like a slow burn until the contestants board the coach to embark on their adventure. Once it gets underway, Destination X promises to be a thrilling ride. Watch Destination X's first two episodes on BBC iPlayer.

King Charles' Warning About Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in New Show
King Charles' Warning About Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in New Show originally appeared on Parade. The drama surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has made its way to reality TV, spilling over into the world of The Real Housewives of London. In a newly released trailer for Hayu's upcoming reality series, Panthea Parker teases a potential showdown with none other than King Charles III himself. As she and her husband, Lawyer Ed Parker, head to a royal event, Panthea, 50, boldly hints at asking the king about the ongoing rift with Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43. 'I'm going to go up to the king,' she declared in the clip. 'I'm going to go, 'How do you feel about Harry and what he did?'' But Ed wasn't so sure that's the best approach at a Buckingham Palace garden party. 'It says, specifically, 'Do not ask the monarch about Harry and Meghan,'' he responded to his wife, referencing a booklet he was holding referring to the 76-year-old Monarch's request. The Royal Family has been embroiled in tension since Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal duties in 2020, particularly over the couple's security after they moved to California. Things remained strained, even after Harry's BBC interview earlier this year, where he expressed a desire for reconciliation. "There's no point in continuing to fight anymore, life is precious," the Duke of Sussex declared to the outlet. Alongside Panthea, the ladies of London — including Juliet Angus, Amanda Cronin, and Karen Loderick-Peace — are set for a thrilling season of drama, with appearances from The Real Housewives of Dubai's Caroline Stanbury and The Real Housewives of New York City's Dorinda Medley. Fans of the beloved U.S. versions of the show were quick to comment on the trailer after it was shared to YouTube on Tuesday, July 15.'Oh this is going to give the other RHs a run for their moneyyyyy,' one fan declared, 'This might be the best thing to happen in 2025 so far.'Not everyone thought the new show looked appealing, however.'The trailer is rubbish. Seriously none of these ladies represent London . Boring,' one stated, 'This is going to flop I'm sorry. They already tried Ladies of London and Real Housewives of Cheshire in the UK, it all comes off too scripted…' The Real Housewives of London premieres on Hayu on August 18 in the U.K., but a U.S. release date is still pending.
